Is this too much to hope for?

My friend and I (and our families) have booked WL standard rooms at the AP rate of $135.00 per night. We have now found out that we cannot get connecting standard rooms, but CRO went ahead and connected our ressies with a grand gathering number. Am I hoping for too much that we will get assigned to upgraded woods view connecting rooms? Is this possible?

No biggie if not, but our kids love to play together and connecting rooms would make life a bunch easier.

BTW, this is our first stay at the WL and we are sooo excited

When you check in you should probably inquire if they are connecting rooms or if they are at least side by side. Last Dec. we stayed at POFQ with my sis-in-law, and family, and we had requested connecting rooms. We ended up getting neighboring rooms and it worked out fine, probably better because it wasn't a hassle getting the kids seperated for bedtime. Since we had wanted to stay at WL we joked with them that had we stayed at WL we would have had the connecting rooms that they wanted. ;)

Even if you booked a room category where connecting rooms are an option, connecting rooms are simply a request and there is no guarantee that you would be assigned connecting rooms. As a Grand Gathering your reservations will be linked when they are downloaded to your resort (approx 3-5 days before your arrival) and the room assigner will make every effort to keep your rooms as close together as they can. You should not expect to be upgraded to a higher room category simply to fulfill what was only a request to begin with.

For me a big down fall for connecting rooms is that you have to wait til both are vacated before they will give you the room numbers. We had connecting rooms at Movies one time and the family before us got a late check out we weren't given the room til after 5. My friend was going with us and she was sharing the room with my 18yr old. After that we never asked for connecting rooms again.

We stayed at POFQ last May under a grand gathering number with my bil's family. We did not get connecting rooms, but rooms next to one another. I think it was for the best. I didn't want my bil walking in while I was in my pjs or just out of the shower. It also kept the kids from running wild between a door.

We had just the opposite experience at POFQ. We had connecting rooms with my Mom. Her room was not ready but ours was. They gave us our room keys and we were able to go into our room and leave our bags. She left her bags in our room and when her room was ready she just opened it and wheeled her bag right in.

We had the same request at AKL in January with a Grand Gathering number . . . no luck - in fact opposite directions in the hotel. I would say not to hope for it and if it happens great!
