Is this tacky?

We have stayed at the Poly, BWI & the WL & on each trip along with our luggage we carted : 12 pack of Heineken, 12 pack of Coke, 12 pack of bottled water & a bag of Pampers ! Now I admit the 1rst time we did this I was a little apprehensive but I saw lots of people doing the same thing. Bell Services didn't even bat an eye, what was even funnier is I take this huge soft stuffed cow that the baby can't live without & that went on the bell service's cart as well ::yes:: This saves us tons of $ which we in turn spend on restaurants & shopping. Don't worry about it !

Yes, but have you taken a cooler on the airplane?

I have a cooler with wheels, I was debating filling with minor items, crackers, perhaps... then duc taping it (not extreme duc tape so airport security could open to see my food!)

or do I purchase one at the grocery stop???

I love my feather pillow, to bring or not to bring? (it could fit in that cooler see...)

Eeyore

Just put the pillow in the cooler and you'll be golden!!

Well, I am going to go against the crowd here. I think it is fine to bring in some snacks but I think bringing a cooler to a luxury resort is tacky. Sorry everyone but that is what I think. Also I can't imagine bringing one on a plane . Way too inconvenient. I think that if you must bring in a cooler you should do it in the evening.( when no one can see it) Can you imagine checking into the GF or the Yacht Club with everyone rolling a cooler behind them . Not a pretty picture. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

i think it would make a SWELL picture and would be a total hoot to boot.::yes::

I read that you can rent a fridge for $10 more a day. Is this available at the value resorts, too? I am thinking of getting one to put a 1/2 gallon or gallon of milk in, so the kids can have their milk in the morning and at night, and maybe store a few packs of lunchmeat or whatever for late night snacks. Can I do this? Thanks! :) -Amy

I have rented refrigerators before but haven't stayed at value resort yet. Much better than a cooler.

PCHPIE...Don't mess up my pristine views. The coolers are perfect for staying at Fort Wilderness:)::yes:: ::yes:: ::yes::

:hyper: ok everyone with coolers...don't dare check in before midnight. someone might see you.

i have never once looked to see what bell services was loading onto other carts.

Relax Bojangles:) Crazy Kanga asked for opinions. This is mine. So beware I will be on cooler patrol and looking for you ( you can check in whenever you like but I better not see you with your cooler before dark):teeth: ::yes:

you know pchpie, I'd let you take my picture,

"yes I am 'tacky' and I'm sorry... is there a support group for us 'frugal NUTS'??

I dont have a problem bringing in a cooler, I do not want to spend $70 renting a fridge, that may or may not be available at this high season... I do not mind bringing ziplock bags and filling them with ice and adding to the cooler, I do not mind putting my champagne and Gran Marnier (*gasp what if my frugal fav brands arent available at this store - its my anniversary darn it and I plan on enjoying it... now watch me be too tired to even open it ROFLOL I can just see me lugging it to FL and lugging it back to IL!! its my perogative tho!!) in my carry on luggage. I do not mind stopping at the grocery store and picking up milk and cereal and bagels and cheese... I will pack my fav bigelow tea and sugar,

ROFLOL hey, I dont even mind being whispered about as being "tacky" let me tell you I have been called worse by my sisters in law!!

I just was curious if anyone had experience carrying on a roll on cooler on an airline, and I expect it to be searched!!

No need. We normally stay concierge so we have a fridge in the room. :p However, I don't see a problem with anyone bringing one. I'm sure we'd bring one too especially if we had very young children and needed to keep formula and things cool in the car.

Hehe. . .well after paying $5.00 for a beer at the Poly pool in April, I'm *definitely* going to bring at least a six-pack, *just* in case I feel like I really want one. Won't have to feel so guilty ! :D

There's a thought. Anyone up to organizing a cooler parade through the lobby. Bet it would make the news, maybe the record book.::yes:: ::yes:: :wave2: :teeth:

We always bring a cooler with milk and have cereal in the room most mornings. We are not big eaters in the morning and don't like to waste money on eating breakfast out. This will be our first stay at a Deluxe and I don't want to look like a freak walking in with a cooler and groceries.

Eating a wholesome breakfast in your room is far from tacky. It's good sense.

Just my opinion and as Boardwalk Tigger stated, the question was Is This Tacky? I have to agree that to take a really large cooler through the lobby of a deluxe hotel is tacky.

Yes plenty of people do it. It does not bother me in the least they do it. But I do think it is tacky especially a really large one. A small one would just fit on the luggage cart and not be that noticeable. I have seen people bring in ones so large one had to wonder if they had butchered a cow.

But then I think it's tacky to not dress up for church and in nice restaurants, cell phones in restaurants and movies. etc.

If I wanted to have one in my room I would pack a collapseable one.

As to food packed on the plane, I read somewhere that due to the new stronger xray of bags for security they do not recommend putting food in baggage. If your food glows in the dark you will know why :)

Food does not retain radiation! Please don't make such uniformed statements.

Although food may not retain the radiation it doesn't sound too appetising. I think I will buy my snacks after I get off the plane. Many consumers don't want to eat fruit, veggies etc. that have been irradiated and have lobbied to have these foods marked in the supermarkets. When they were marked people avoid them. So it is logical that Sammie read this warning somewhere.::yes::

Those statements are illogical. However you have a right to follow poor logic. More power to you!:Pinkbounc
