Southwest canceled our later flights.
So now the latest we can get is 5pm.

is this realistic in current park times:

AK rope drop 9am
Ride FOP
Ride Navi river
Ride Everest

lunch at yak and yeti at 11 or so

leave AK 1230-1pm

arrive back at pop by 2 (At the latest) to catch magical express to the airport.

I guess my biggest question is should I ditch yak and yeti..

Isn’t ME pick up still 3 hours before? they do get you there early, and other stops along way so ..u can go private instead.
boarding will start by 430. But thru security before that and never know with mco. If I had a 5 flight I’d be at airport by 230 at latest, that’s just me.
Safe travels and enjoy ur visit!

When was at MCO about a week ago was able to get through bag check and security really fast. Pretty much no line for security, so if you want to buy extra time you can use another method other than ME.

As for dinning, table service can eat up a bit of time depending on a number of things. Doing QS will save some time, but that is up to you if you want a sit down meal. Getting all those done before 11 may be possible depending on crowds that day. When I was there posted wait times always seemed higher than actual, by like 10-20 minutes. That isn’t to say they started to better estimate more accurate wait times since the.

If you can leave AK by 1215 and be willing to take an uber if something crazy with the buses happens; I'd be pretty comfortable with that. Or just plan on taking an uber and leave AK around 1245ish...I'd try to be back at resort by 1/115 because I imagine you'll have to geab your luggage and then you may have a pickup time of 145 and I always try to be at stop 10 mins prior.

I will also add that we personally always give a flight number to magical express that 30-45 mins later that our actual flight because even with that we always have more than enough time to get through security. eat and get to our gate. Now, with having to check bags, we'd probably only b comfortable doing 1/2 hr later, although with the light crowds at mco we'd probably be fine either way. I know there will be some that talk about all the whatifs etc. but our extended party of beyween 8-12 traveling on at least 3 different flights each time have been doing this for years and years. sometimes multiple times a year and we have never had an issue or ever came close to cutting it close. I'm not saying anyone should do this whos not comfortable, but I truly appreciated when someone on here tokd me about it all those years ago, so I just wanted to put it out there.

You can probably do it. Waits were very short at AK when we were there last month. To ease stress, I do recommend you ditch Yak & Yeti. Stop at Flame Tree Barbeque before or after Everest (it's close by), instead. Then leave the park as soon as you've had lunch & accomplished your mission list.

Haha, I think you combined two restaurant names together. It's Flame Tree Barbecue (or Rainforest Cafe).

OP, I think you should be ok with your plan.

I wouldn't do a TS lunch, especially if the rides are a priority for you. If this is a Saturday, wait times are longer than a weekday. We did AK the day we left (8/8)...got there at 9:30? FOP was an actual 30 minutes while we were there. DH and DD16 did it first thing, and I did it with her before we left the park. We all did safari together, listed 30 minutes, was 15. DD20 and I did Kali at 10 with no wait, cleaning cycle right after we got off put wait time to 25 min. Everest has seemed pretty short, maybe 10-15 minutes, didn't do it this trip though. We left park at 12:45pm. Stayed at AKV, so we knew bus turnaround would be quick. Our DME was at 2pm for our 5pm flight. Grabbed a quick lunch from store at AKV while retrieving luggage.

Yes. I really don't think that should be an issue at all, unless crowds increase significantly in the near future.

IMHO any time someone asks if their timetable is too tight, chances are it probably is, or they wouldn't be asking. Maybe instead of the table service Yak and Yeti, you could do the quick service Yak and Yeti food stand. I don't think it's worth the stress of rushing through an over-packed vacation schedule.

I look at it like this.
5pm flight
3pm Airport Arrival
2pm get on ME
12am Start leaving the parks.

Disney Vacations are like planning a war/battle. It's all about logistics!

The big thing is the time it takes to get out of the parks and back to your resort.
20-30 minutes to walk out and get to the bus stop unless you're b-lining it out so maybe 10-20 minutes
Waiting for a bus 0-20 minutes.
Walking from the bus to your room/checkout/manage bags is 5-20 minutes?
Catching the next ME, 0-30 minutes?

I'd add a 20% buffer on time just in case. Use the bathroom? Buy a last minute gift? Grab a snack? That's why I put 2 hours between leaving the parks and getting on the ME.

Hopefully traffic isn't a major issue.

That was sleep deprivation. I'm a teacher & we just started virtual school using multiple new platforms that they introduced us to at the very last minute. I've averaged 3 hours of sleep per night for the last 3 nights, just figuring out the programs and creating all virtual lessons.

Haha, it just gave me a good little chuckle this morning, no worries. Definitely something I would do, too.

In past trips I always take a 5:30 flight back home so I can spend the day in the parks. My tradition was to hit all four parks and ride at least one ride. I always managed to do it and get back to the hotel by 2PM.

Your plan is very doable based on my experiences even with lunch. As others have pointed out the chances are you'll get a DME time of 2PM so if you get in line at the AK bus stop at 1PM you should have enough time. For safety you might want to budget for a Lyft/Uber because the bus situation is a little odd these days.

Delta moved my 5:30PM flight to 9AM. I'm going to miss my Last Day Tradition this trip.

This exact thing happened to us although the flight changes again after that to an 11am one so we added another day and picked a nonstop one the next day. We skipped AK our last trip and didn’t want to miss this time

I feel like you may live in my town? :) Although I'm sure this is happening all over the country. This has been a WEEK for us getting two kids up and running on these platforms. I'm so thankful for every single teacher out there who I know is working around the clock!

Agreed. I think it is very doable with the expected 2pm MDE pick up at the resort. If you do the lunch and are running late and don't want to risk Disney transport back to the resort, you should be fine with a ride share.

Our trip 2 weeks ago we did sit downs every day and were in and out very quickly with the limited capacity. Not our experience pre-COVID.
