Looking for advice.....I have scheduled a Sleigh Ride at the WL on 12/11 at 7:30pm. This is the only night we will be able to see Spectromagic and it is scheduled at 9pm. Do you think I will be able to find a good viewing spot for Spectromagic if I do not get there until 8:30pm? I figure the carriage ride will take 30 minutes and then we will take the boat to MK. I have a 2 year old, so a good viewing spot is essential and I know she will love this parade. Do you think I need to cancel the Sleigh Ride....we can't go any other night as we are only going for 3 days and have MVMCP on the 12th. Any thoughts or idea on where I can find a good spot for Spectromagic??

Thanks so much!! :flower1:

Yes. Your best bet will be right in front of Harmony Barbershop or the Firestation. These two spots are across the street from one another right at the beginning of the parade route. Generally, they are the last to fill up.

Some say viewing the parade is "less magical" from this location since you see the floats emerging from backstage. (However, you really don't see this if you are on the firestation side.)

Personally, I prefer to show up right before the parade starts and still get a front row seat. Most nights (when only one parade is running) these are the only spots where you can do this.

gcurling, since I am a sit for three hours to get the best seat kind of gal and you seem to be the opposite I wonder if you might know if it is possible to sit on the steps at the RR station to get a good view of the parade, being careful not to block anyone of course.

We saw Spectromagic for the first time the end of August and then again this past October 30 and both times the people were already starting to sit for it an hour and a half beforehand.

I like getting a seat on the curb on Main Street where I can see the Castle. For that kind seat I'd say getting there a half hour before it starts, you'll have slim pickings. Even if you are not picky, I'd say you'll have slim pickings. Both times I saw it, we sat down in our seats over an hour before it started.

Good luck!

If you don't mind trying to get through the crowds, the best place to watch Spectromagic is over in Frontierland. Because it gets there later than Main Street, the spots don't fill up quite so fast. I don't know if the railroad is running that late at night, but that would be the easiest way to get there, otherwise, stay to the left as you enter MK and walk straight through the stores. Follow the path to the left of Casey's Corner, by the Crystal Palace. You can do it, but it might cause you a little stress. I'd try to reschedule either an earlier sleigh ride if possible or consider cancelling if the parade is important to you. The MK will be very crowded that night.

The railroad platform is normally an awesome spot for a great bird's eye view of the parade. However, someone else suggested that the Christmas tree at MK will block most of the view. If you're interested, try checking it out earlier that day and see what you think before you spend a lot of time to snag the seats and find out they're no good.

Thanks everyone for your replies! Still not sure what to do. I think I will call and see if there are any openings for an earlier Sleigh ride and go from there. If anyone else has any suggestions I would love to hear them!!
Thanks again!!

Twice in the past year, on a week night, we've stood in the 1st or 2nd row by the fire house when we walked in 5 minutes before the parade. However, you're talking about a Saturday night ---- the busiest night in MK.

By the time you walk to the boat from the sleigh ride (and possibly wait up to 20 minutes for the boat), ride to MK, and get into MK, it could be 8:45. That's probably the worst case scenario, but just giving you info to help you make your decision.

That's where we watch the parade too. We'll also watch it near the silhouette stand in Liberty Square as it comes over the bridge.
