Is this OK--what to do?

My family--DH, DS, DD, and my parents--have had a January vacation at POFQ planned for a year. Last spring my dad was diagnosed with cancer. Thankfully he is now doing well, but still very weak and on a feeding tube. He probably wouldn't go to a park at all, but would hang out at the hotel enjoying (hopefully!) some warm weather. He doesn't eat anything, and would most likely never leave the resort. HERE's the problem--everyone in the room needs to be on exactly the same plan. My mom will spend most of the day with us, and we (in our own room) will be on Park Hopper with Dining Plan. It is best if she is on that too, but it would obviously be a COMPLETE waste to have to enroll my dad in this too. Right now we only have my mom registered in the room (until recently it didn't look like my dad would be able to come), but now my dad is feeling a bit stronger and would like to just come with us. Can I not add him with the hotel? The room is the same, and he won't leave the resort--and would obviously have to buy a park pass if he did, but I'm not sure what to do. Any ideas?

The only "legal" way I can think of is to have your mom listed on the room with you, your hubby, and your daughter. And have you dad listed on the other room by himself. That way, you wouldn't have to worry about it. But you would end up paying the over 2 adult in a room fee. I think it is $15 a night at the moderates, but it could be $20.

Honestly, I don't think I would list your dad on the reservation. It is not like you are trying to sneak someone extra in to the room, and as long as he is not using the dining credits, what is the harm?

Here is a  for you and your dad. I hope he continues to get better!

I would say that would be OK since your family is in one room and your parents in another room so you wouldn't be exceeding the occupancy limit. That is usually the issue with not registering a guest. The only other thing is that should (God forbid!) there be a fire or other emergency at the resort, they look at those #s to make sure they have everyone accounted for. I would hope that if you let them know at check in your Dad will be there and explain the situation that it would not be a problem at all. I know my SIL booked a package for she and her son. One of her friends joined them just for a couple of days but not the entire stay. She bought her own ticket and paid OOP for meals while SIL and DN were on the DDP. They let the resort know so that she could get a room key but it was no problem at all. They just explained that she would not be there the entire length of stay and would not be on the DDP. She bought her ticket at the desk so they knew she had park admission.

I hope your father continues to do well and grows stronger every day!

Why don't you just call Disney directly and ask them? I'd bet that in this circumstance they might just make an exception especially since your father is on a feeding tube.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I'm sure Disney could make an exception for him. Call them.

If that doesn't work are you sure your Mom has to be on the dining plan? Depending on how much she eats she might be better off just paying OOP unless you plan on doing a lot of buffets. Personally that's the way I'd go. It's not like people on the dining plan aren't allowed to eat with those who aren't.
