My birthday was in August, and we are going to Disney thanksgiving week but it is sort of my b-day time too, my mom said that because she didnt give me a party like she usually does each year so i was wondering should i be able to get a b-day button or should i not get one since the trip is 3 months later?

We're going to do that with my oldest son. Last spring, we went to Disney about a month before his brother's birthday. Since we couldn't go close to my oldest's birthday in August, we're going to let him have a birthday day the Sunday before Thanksgiving.

ok. I learn something wonderfully new everytime I log on. I have loved WDW my whole life, have been 7 times and still learn so much from this board. What is a B-day button? We are going 6 days after my niece's b-day for Christmas and I would love to do something special for her. Where do you get the buttons? What are the perks of having one? Thanks so much.

P.S. We were scheduled to go the day before, but could not get the Wilderness cabins for that time period.

i belive it looks something like this:confused3 http://www.minandbills.net/gallery/200310/200310-x-pin-micminbirthdayballoons.jpg

and i read somewhere else that when they wore it the cms might do something special for you like take you to the front of the line for a ride or something of the sort and it is a great soveiner

And (correct me if im wrong) you get them at guest services?
Are these pins diffrent at every park?

My son got one at MK's Crystal Palace during breakfast (I think guest services also has them). Mainly he just got attention--no extras other than a few extra smiles. We didn't get in the front of any line, although he did get chosen to talk in the Monster's unlimited show (but part of that is due to his Stitch mickey mouse ears--he also got to talk to Crush on another day (same ears))

It does seem a little dishonest to go around wearing an "It's my Birthday" button and receiving any associated perks or attention that goes along with it when it is not your birthday. Just my .02.

how old are you?
ive done it for my DS who was 12/13 at the time

but you sound like youre older?

I too feel as if it is dishonest to suggest it is your birthday if it is not. If your family wants to celebrate why don't they buy you a special pin celebrating the occasion? One of my daughters has a birthday in August and we have celebrated many times at WDW, the other daughter has a birthday November 16 and while we have been many times over Thanksgiving we have never suggested she "pretend" it's her birthday when it isn't. (This year her birthday is the Friday before Thanksgiving so we are taking our girls out of school for one day and flying down early just so we can spend her 12th birthday in Disney!)
So if it is truly just a souvenir pin that you are looking for why not purchase your own and then your family can celebrate with you.

Well it's not like it's a promise to get you anything. My 40th b-day in 2 months after we go, but I'm not going to be able to take vaca around my real b-day, so I've considered calling this my b-day trip.

We are celebrating our children's bday's while we are there. My son turns 18 about two weeks before we leave. I have purchased a cake and we are celebrating at one of the restaurants. My daughter, I bought her the chocolate slipper to have at CRT. I have made it clear though that we are celebrating their bdays but it is not their bDAY when I talked to CMs about the arrangements...since you asked, I see no problem celebrating your bday, but not to wear the button saying it IS your bday....

Not to be harsh but it is a birth DAY and not birth months. If people abuse the special perks at Disney they might take them away.

I say "go for it"

but I believe the picture of the pin you showed us is a pin ppl buy
I believe its a button that guest services will give you

Im celebrating my 50th birthday starting next sat. I will be at wdw 14days and it really honestly will be my 50th birthday one of those days. If someone asks its my birthday vacation and yes its while im there

Happy, Happy Birthday!:bday:

I say go for it!!:thumbsup2 If that's when you're celebrating your birthday party. I see nothing wrong with it. DD(5) had a birthday in September, but we threw her a big shindig. Maybe next year we'll go for her birthday.
Happy Birthday!!

I gotta agree! I got turned off the birthday at WDW thing several years ago one night when we were at Chef Mickey's. There were a couple of tables there with birthday kids and the CMs brought them out cupcakes and had everyone take turns singing Happy Birthday to them. OK! fine that was cute, but suddenly every table in there had a birthday. I bet we sang Happy Birthday at least 15 times. The last one was ridiculous. The family at the table right next to us had three kids and the mom was arguing with the dad about telling the CMs that all three kids were going to have a birthday that week, just so they could be sung to and get a cupcake. The dad was rather loud and saying it was ridiculous and he was not going to lie. The mom got really loud and said 'do you think it's actually half these kids birthdays?' She then called a CM over (with husband glaring at her) and told the CM that all three of her kids were having a birthday that week. The middle child, said 'mom my birthday was in August' (this was in January). She just smoothly said 'but we are celebrating it now' and looked expectantly at the CM, who I guess was fed up by this point, because he rather obviously rolled his eyes, went to get three more cupcakes, and had his fellow cast members sing Happy Birthday one more time. The couple then spent the rest of their meal arguing over the lie she had told. Chef Mickey's was ridiculous that night!

I was there the first week in October this year. My birthday is in just a few days, at the end of 0ctober. It never crossed our minds to lie and say it was my birthday.

Oh goodness! That is ridiculous.:sad2:

We ARE CELEBRATING our children's bday's which are Oct 3rd and Nov 20th, we will be in Disney the 7th to the 16th, but we have BOUGHT our childrens' cakes. We are going all out, staying on site for the first time and even purchased the DDP. This is our Christmas too. We usually take them out to dinner for their bdays, but we are spending so much on the trip, we let them pick which ADR/restaurant they want to celebrate at in Disney. Our daughter is also having heart surgery next year, so again, this is a very special all out trip for us.

I agree that that children (within a week or two) who want to "celebrate" their birthday while there is perfectly acceptable. Pay for a cake, buy them a special souvenier, etc. Wearing a free pin that says "It's my birthday" when it's not, in order to get "free" desserts and treatment, is simply dishonest. We want my DS5 to have his birthday at WDW, so we will be at MK ON his birthday! He will get a pin, and we will order him a cake, THAT day. The next day, the pin comes off, and no more "flagged" ADR's. My other DS8 will be with us, and his birthday is March (just 3 1/2 months later!) why would I want people to believe it's HIS birthday when it's NOT? If you're an adult, claiming it's your birthday, when it's not, this just makes no sense to me! You can "celebrate" your birthday at WDW whenever you feel like it, as far as I'm concerned. Just don't wear a pin and mark your ADR's as a birthday, when you know it's a lie. It's true, you are taking away the "uniquness" from the few people who do go to WDW ON their birthday, anniversaries etc.

Maybe CM's at ADR check-ins and at Guest Services should check id for the ACTUAL birthday?

So, if due to work or availability of time off happens to conflict with my actual b-day, I'm not allowed to goto the happiest place on earth, that's filled with imagination and make believe and celebrate my b-day just because I cant go when my actual b-day is? It's been probably 16 years since I've actually be able to have my real birthday off. Now, if I would be going back on my b-day then no, it's not right. Heck we just had my brothers bday celebration at our whole family beach trip 3 months after he turned 50.

So you all can feel as you will, but if I want to celebrate my 40th bday a few weeks before my real b-day with my first trip ever to WDW.... well, I dont want party poopers like you at my b-day anyway :headache: :snooty:
