I have some young verbena plants in the garden. After watering them with a sprinkler some of the stems are flopping over. Is this normal for this type flower? Is there some nutient that will help with stronger stems?

Hi debknight, welcome to the Garden! :D

I don't know where you're located, but I'm going to assume you're referring to annual verbena. I have the upright and trailing kind, is your verbena the upright one, or does it look like this....Click Here! ?

When I planted verbenas and watered them...the flowers always flopped over....just too much direct spraying. Try to mist the flowers and get closer to the roots with the real watering. They do pop back after some of the water is off the petals but you run the risk of breaking off the tops of them over time.

I always think verbena are such cheerful flowers!
