Now that is way, way more information then anyone needs. I never thought I would see the day that I looked, with ease, at encountering a "formed stool".

I have a bar stool at home is that the same thing?

Two trips ago, this happened in the Hippie Dippie Pool in Pop Century. As soon as the lifeguard saw it, everyone was told the pool will be closing and everyone had to get out. Everyone basically knew what happened, so everyone got out.

They removed the (poop) and they tested the pool about four times waiting about 15 to 20 minutes before each testing. Then when the guy testing the pool water said it was o.k. everyone was allowed in.

However, the one thing you have to realize is number one the chemicals in the pool are very effective and number 2 unless you swallow the water, nothing will happend to you. Also, with the amount of water it really is not an issue. It is not like you are in a small pool, there is so much water, the problem really is not an issue. However, I still think it is gross.

......number 3. Even if you drank pure urine it wouldnt do a thing to you. Sure, it may not taste like a fine wine but it is completely harmless and sterile even without the huge dilution factor of the pool and all the chemicals in it.

Oh yea, I'd also suggest NEVER getting in a stream, river or ocean then.. Do you KNOW what those fish DO in that water?!?!?! And it's not chlorinated!!

On DCL, I think they shut down for urinary accidents, as well as poo. They drain, scrub, and then refill the pool.

I think the reason DCL is so strict has something to do with how much chemical they can use. I know kids HAVE to be potty trained for DCL. No swim diapers allowed at ALL.

Just because I have OCD and think about stuff like this ALL the time and want to share my neuroses with all of you (cuz I love ya!): Okay, so everyone says they should have shut everything down for a piece of poo in the pool. Granted, I would agree. However, what about a kid in a swim diaper? If a child poos in a swim diaper while in water to his waist....the bacteria from said poo is just seeping into the water, too, isn't it?? More so than free floating poo, which would be spotted and removed quickly (I would hope). So at any given time, there may be mucho poo bacteria hanging out.

Think about that for more than a minute and you have a short glimpse into the fear-ridden chaos that is my brain.

Seriously though, Disney uses the maximum chlorine load allowed in those pools, more than most public pools. The guy with the foot sores....I can't think about that or I will never swim again.

Parents should change a swim diaper the moment they realize that there has been a BM (well, when it's finished). They are pretty disgusting things (swim diapers) but they beat the alternatives.

In terms of the foot sores, I bet he meant open cuts. I don't see the big deal.

It's not the fish you need to be worried about. It's the runoff from the farms, the lawns, the powerboats, the landfills, and the major corporations along the river. Many of our waterways are so polluted that the fish and shellfish are not safe to eat. But then it's also the bacteria and algae that are of concern....

As far as Disney pools are concerned - I KNOW they are regulated numerous times a day. I know that if there were a major outbreak at WDW due to a problem at a pool, it would proably cost WDW lots of money. I think they'd much prefer to spend a few dollars each day on chlorine.. But the chemicals are probably the main reason why you shouldn't drink the water.

Urine is sterile. If you are in a remote place and you cut your hand open - urine is one way to clean the cut. Drinking urine is not wise though as it contains the toxins your body is trying to remove (Like drinking ammonia)

My local pool also closes if there is poop in it. Not only that, but the offender, if caught, is barred from the pool for the rest of the season.

Further, the water we drink and the water that comes into our houses is also only treated SO much. There's a balance between the danger of bacteria and the danger of the chemicals they may add to purify the water.....I'd rather have some harmless bacteria then toxic chemicals in my water. Furthermore, your body is well adapted to dealing with human bacteria - not so much industrial chemicals.

Last, and here is the aprt that will really freak you out - read the label on your lotions and creams that your slathering all over your body. The ingerdient "urea" is the same chemical that is found in urine.

Even take out all the man made stuff in the water, forget that, the fish still crap, have sex in, have babies in, die in, rot in the water..

Oh and I like to think of urea more as chicken poop..

I was at a theme park several years ago and someone did go to the bathroom in the wave/tube pool and they shut the whole thing down so that they could not only empty it, but sanitize it and I believe there were more HAPPY people than unhappy ones...They had a special cleaner that as the pool was emptying, the cleaner was emptied and the pool quickly filled back up. I don't think it took more than 30 minutes tops to do the whole thing..
