Is this just plain wrong?

We are going for our first trip to Disney in 3 weeks. When we go it will be one week after, and one week before both of DD's birthdays. Would it be just plain wrong to pretend it is their birthdays on a designated day? :confused3 I feel wrong lying about it, but I would just love for my daughters to get all the special attention. And it is after all only within a week of each of their birthdays. Please someone set me straight about what is considered proper disney etiquite. Thank you. :goodvibes

I wouldn't pretend that it was actually their birthday. But I would say that you are there celebrating both of your DD's birthdays. Sometimes, depending on the day of the week our DD's birthday falls on, we might wait until the weekend or have their party on another day. So I see nothing wrong with acknowledging their birthday while you are there and celebrating it Disney style! :flower:

That's a good question.

My DD turned 5 2/22, a Tuesday. We told her Happy Birthday but we celebrated on the following Saturday so she could have a party. It wasn't really her birthday, but there's nothing wrong with celebrating on a more convenient day.

I wouldn't lie at WDW about it. I would probably say Child 1's B-day was last week and Child 2's B-day is next week so we split the difference and came this week to celebrate both B-days. That's perfectly plausible.

Just an opinion.

I say just let everyone know that the trip is a birthday celebration since your DDs b-days are so close together! That should do the trick! :) If you want to pretend it's their b-days I say go for it then. It's close enough and I'm sure your DD's would get a kick out of it. ;)

We just tell the CM's that we are celebrating a birthday, they don't care if it is your actual birthday. Be sure to get a birthday stiker/badge at City Hall on Main Street in the MK.
In fact....in 2003 we celebrated our anniversary over labor day weekend.... the actual day is July 21st. The nice people at the Swan sent chocolate covered fruit and champagne with a beautiful card congratulating us on our 1st full day there~ it was wonderful!!!! :lovestruc

My dh's bday is May 22, we will be at the parks the 20th, 21st and 22nd I plan on getting him a button for each park we go into so he has one from each park because that rip really is a celebration of his birthday all the way around....

There is nothing wrong with choosing to celebrate a birthday on a different day. However, i wouldnt want to set the example of lieing and actually saying that it is their birthday.

What I would do is tell the kid we are celebrating (having your party) on such and such day. Instead of requesting a birthday button come prepared with a button or accesory of your own that says "birthday girl."

You can also announce ahead of time at a restaurant that you are celebrating your child's birthday.

Have one wear the happy birthday button one day and the other wear the button on another day. If anyone asks just say it's not their actual birthday but you're celebrating on a more convenient day. Definitely get the buttons though, it's great walking around with all the CM's (and some guests too, like me) saying Happy Birthday all day.

We just celebrated DD7's birthday on Saturday, even though it's actually the 23rd. No questions asked, she had a blast. At dinner at 1900 Park Faire Prince Charmin gpresented her with her cupcake and she and her sister both were given tiaras. We'll be back in June for her sister's actual birthday, will do the same thing then.

There's nothing wrong with it at WDW or with your DD if you say you're celebrating their birthday! :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

Ya don't always have their birthday parties on their birthday at home,do you? I know I don't,unless Erich or Jon's birthdays fall on a Fri. or Sat..Both my boys are in school and we have their parties with friends on the weekend before or after the actual day.

A couple years ago we were at WDW the week after my birthday and we were celebrating one special day as "my" birthday although I didn't know what day it was until my guys surprised me with cards and a small gift the morning they chose to celebrate. :flower: It was so much fun! When we got back to our room that night I had a card from Mickey and balloons waiting for me. ::MickeyMo It's a very special memory for all of us!
