Is this happening to anyone else?/ Getting tickets

Every time over the past few months I've gotten on to buy tickets for my upcoming WDW vacation the website is down. Today I actually made it into the site and was getting ready to buy the tickets and boom, it went down. I'm starting to feel like this is a sign I'm not supposed to go or something.

Anyway, this has led me to start to think about getting tickets somewhere else. I've never not purchased tickets from Disney directly. How does it work if you buy tickets from another source? I see people talk on here about getting them from other sources, and I've always been curious but afraid of getting cheated. Maybe that is the true "sign"? I've already talked myself out of getting AP as a result of not being able to get on to buy them when I wanted.

Don't take Disney IT as a sign of anything. Disney IT is horrid (and we know people who work in it up in Seattle).

Buy the tickets you need and don't get mystically swayed from doing something you want to do because Disney chooses to use underpaid 18 year old interns to do nonsensical things to their website (not insulting 18 year olds, but their managers...the 19 year we know who was trying to get an internship had traveled to Disney before and understood the issues with the website and likely didn't get the job because he was too good and would have fought back against mgmnt).

Buy from a source discussed on these boards and you're golden. Undercovertourist is a longtime favorite. Parksavers is new in my eyes. but people here say they are less than UCT and are just as trusted.

others will give info on how the tickets work in the first day. I haven't bought any tickets since MBs.

Yeah, I'm trying to buy party tickets...site is unable to handle my request!!! Geez, it's not as though I'm asking for 1500 tickets..just need two!!!

OP, I totally get the "is this a sign?" thing. That's how my mind works, too (no matter how illogical I know it is).

I can give you a testimonial for Undercover Tourist. I've bought from them for four of my last five trips and have always been very happy. I still choose to have the "hard" tickets mailed to me. They are the actual Disney plastic card tickets, and linking them to your MDE account is simple. If you are serious about using UT for tickets, go to Mousesavers.com and sign up for their free newsletter - it has a link to UT that will save a little extra on the tickets.

I've been reading a lot on here about Park Savers and have been looking with interest at them, because the ticket I want for next year is less than on UT. I'm still tempted to stick with UT, however, just because I'm used to them.

I never buy park tickets from Disney. While the discounts aren't a lot, I like feeling like I've saved at least a little bit. I have used AAA or Undercover Tourist in the past. Never had any issues.

Undercover Tourist is the one I've heard talked about on the board before. I use their crowd calendar to help me decide my plans, and they seemed legit, but I just have always been on the fence about trying them. I'll give them a try, and see what happens.

How do they get the tickets to sell? I'm just curious exactly where the ticket is coming from? Do they just buy in bulk and get a discount price?

I do tend to let series of unfortunate events act as a deterrent from me doing things I want to do. But, it takes a lot for me to make that choice. It's typically a series of events and then bodily injury to myself (i.e. concussion, broken knee, etc). So, if I break something prior to the trip, then I'll 100% cancel, but fear not it's going to take more than the website being down constantly for me to cancel. I got the hotel I've wanted for years, dinner at BOG (which I was not able to get into last trip), and after my work wasn't going to let me go things worked out and I'm now able to go. So, there has been more positive signs than negative, but still it's quite frustrating.

There are a few reputable outlets that sell park tickets. If you are a AA member I believe you can still buy park tix at a discount. The WDW website is having problems this morning, I have tried to get ADRs and it won't let me get to the reservation page.

Yes, the site is definitely down today. Been on there multiple times and it's been down all afternoon. Sucks when you are trying to look up something or buy tickets! I always buy directly on the Disney site. I'm like you, don't want any mishaps and want to be SURE I have tickets!
