Okay, we were looking at this excursion. In the information that Disney provides, it says to come and help "raise the sails of the Doubloon."

Now, my husband would absolutely LOVE to be able to literally help raise the sails on this boat.

Or is this only a fun way of saying, "Come sail with us," and the crew does the work while we relax?

Has anyone done the Doubloon excursion that might know?

Thanks.

I think this is true! I'm sorry, but I can't remember which trip report I read it in.

We did this excursion and I don't remember if we raised the sails. It's a cute excursion with a heavy pirate emphasis. The crew treats you really good. I recommend it.

We were looking at this, too. It isn't one of those Jolly Rogers all the rum punch drunk boats, is it? I've heard stories about those, and they're not exactly appropriate for kids.

Thanks for any info.

We will be doing this with our 5 year old on our 11/1 cruise. I picked it especially because it didn't sound like a "booze cruise". Sounds like a lot of fun!

We did the Doubloon trip in September, and they did ask if anybody wanted to help raise the sail. I would have liked to, but a bunch of guys jumped to the task before I had a chance to stand up. They didn't really sail that day, no wind, so they motored out but raised the sail for effect and shade. Coming back, they asked if the kids wanted to help, so had some kids and adults raise the sail.

So I wouldn't say it was a major sailing experience, but I will say it was a fun excursion, the crew was really great, and it seemed they were especially attentive to the kids on board. We had great snorking by Buck Island too, saw sea turtles, squid, and lots and lots of beautiful fish.

Coming back they served rum punch, soda pop and ice water, but I wouldn't say it was a "booze cruise", it was all quite family oriented.

for all the reassurances. We'll definitely be considering it.
