Is this dress too fancy for dinner?

I bought this dress for a special occassion while at Disney, but found another dress that I like better. I can not return this dress because I bought it on sale. Instead of wasting the dress, I was thinking about wearing it to our special dinner at Citricos. Do you think it is too fancy to wear it there?

I really, really like it, and if I don't wear it to dinner, I don't have any other place to wear it to. I just wouldn't want people staring at me saying "who does she think she is wearing a dress like that"? But then again, it is Disney, I can "pretend" I am a princess, right? princess:

At the fancy restaurants you can wear what you want, it's Disney, no one will give you a hard time. In some of the promotional pictures you do see people wearing long dresses so I am sure it's fine

So grab a tiera and go :goodvibes

Don't worry about what other people are going to say - if you like it, who cares!

Personally, unless I had just gotten married, I wouldn't wear a dress that fancy to Citrico's. V&A's, maybe--and that's a pretty big maybe.

The atmosphere at Citrico's is more of a causally elegant, and most diners will be in resortwear--slacks and collared shirts on the gentlement, and casual dresses or slacks/skirts and blouse/sweater for the ladies. I would feel very overdressed, and as so very self-conscious.

I would feel overdressed in that, and uncomfortable, honestly. Unless it was V&As, I think you'd be very overdressed at any Disney restaurant. Is your DH willing to wear a suit so you both look dressed together? Or will he want to wear resort casual?

I usually care less what others think about what I'm wearing, but I'd be uncomfortable in something that fancy at anyplace at Disney - and my DH would refuse to wear a suit so we'd look right together ;)

If you want to wear it, wear it! =)

It's perfect for V&A's (I saw a girl dress much like this going into V&A's) but you will be overdressed for Citrico's. Everyone was basically in shorts there last week.

I think that it is time for you to plan a cruise :flower:
it is a great dress for formal night. I would probably wear it to V&A but probably not anyone else, of course my idea of dressed up at WDW is to wear shoes other than flip flops.....

I would have to agree with christine...but you can only do what you feel you want to do and what you feel comfortable in.

Is having it shortened an option? (don't flame please just trying to help) If you shortened it it would make it more casual...I know you said you love it and it is beautiful but if you are never going to wear it that is a nshame since it is so pretty. :flower:

I think it is a beautiful dress. I personally would not wear it to Citricos but that is me. If you are comfortable in it though go for it. I agree that at V&A it would be fine- because people really dress up there. Too bad you are not going on the cruise that would be perfect for formal night. :flower:
And I would NOT be thinking who does she think she is. I would probably think you had gotten married at Disney.

Nice dress, but way too formal for Citricos.

I agree, it would be perfect for formal night on a cruise! I think with the beaded neckline that cutting it might not be the best idea, it's such a pretty gown, not sure how it would work as more of a cocktail dress, and I'd hate to see it ruined :(

Would you consider shortening it? I think if it was shortened to just above the knee ~ it would not look so formal.

Have a great time no matter what you wear!

Thanks for all the replies.
It is sort of a wedding-y occassion. I will make DH wear a suit and tie to match. We will be having a first anniversary celebration with a recreation of our wedding cake. We wanted to do something special for just the two of us because after the wedding we really didn't have any time to ourselves (with all of our family being there) And also, we did not have any of our wedding cake after the cake cutting because it got smooshed in transport.

We may "possibly" do one of the photo shots before or afterwards.

Deep down, I really wanted to wear it there, but after reading some of the posts about it being too overdone, I am still on the fence. But then again, it's not like I know anyone there, so I can wear whatever I want.

(Now, whenever one of you goes to Citrico and sees a girl in an evening dress, you'll know it was me from the DIS...lol (if I decide to wear it) )

I would also feel overdressed. I agree with the other poster..save the dress and plan a cruise. The dress is perfect for formal night.

The dress is beautiful! I do agree, however, that I would feel overdressed but that's just me. That's the cool thing about Disney though, you kind of feel free to do what pleases you........so if you want to wear it, I say go for it.

I thought you would be overdressed too. Now that you have said you are celebrating your 1 yr anniversary and are going to have a replica of your wedding cake, I feel the dress is appropriate. Go for it and enjoy! What a great way to celebrate!

eBay it and spend it on wine and bubbly.

Happy Anniversary!

You know I agree with this now that you've posted all the circumstances.

I bet most people will think you are just married. We saw a young couple in wedding attire at Yachtsman's about a year ago.....while others in the restaurant were in the usual mix of resort wear. And of course, who cares anyway.

Whatever you do, don't cut it. I agree with Anne, it is too pretty for that!
