Our last trip to HS we were in line to park and the CM started a new row to park.
My husband kept going and went around the entrance again to get us a closer spot to the trams.

Is this rude behavior? I was mortified and my husband didnt think he as doing anything wrong.

I'm not sure that I am completely understanding, but if he didn't follow the cast members instructions, yes, I would consider it to be rude behavior.

It sounds like he circled back to the entrance so that the other cars would fill in the aisle by the time he got back.

It's better than just parking where ever he felt like.

The CM smiled and directed us to the exit and yes we went around the entire parking lot and got in line to park again. I agree it is silly.

Rude - possibly. More-so excessive.

Bad - not so much. Bad would be making your own parking spot in the traffic lane.

I don't think it's rude, but I also don't understand the point of doing it. If he's circling around, he's delaying getting parked, getting on a tram and into the park by several minutes (and possibly having to wait for the next tram). And this assumes that as soon as he circles back around that the next row will be newly started and he can park closer to the tram lane. There's no way to predict this accurately. So I don't think it's rude, nor will it affect other guests, but he's just delaying his own (and his family's) entrance into the park.

I always get frustrated when I go to the mall with someone and they circle the parking lot 5 times looking for a close spot because they "don't feel like walking".

"What are you planning on doing once you get inside the mall? Fly?" :rotfl2:

Frankly, if I am about to embark on a long day of walking (such as at a mall, an amusement park, a golf course) the idea that I need to find a "closer" parking space to save a few steps is silly.

I should add that my husband was having an issue with his one ankle swelling and we were trying to limit his walking till it eased. It happened a few trips ago to when his ankle swelled due to fluid retention from flying. The ankle corrected itself in a day or so. He wasn't having pain it just looked bad. We go to disney once a year for the last 25+ years so saving time wasn't the issue.

Ideally staying at the resort till the swelling stopped but we thought HS not alot of walking compared to other parks and we could stop and sit on the many benches and ppl watch.

Same here. Even worse is when someone sits there with their turn signal on blocking traffic while waiting for a spot...when there are plenty of spots like 10 or less spots further down the aisle. Really? Is 80 feet too far to walk? More often than not, the person I then see get out of the car could really use a little extra walking.

Rude, no. Silly, yes. What would've been really funny is if after you circled you ended up at the start of another row. He could've been circling endlessly. :rotfl2:

I do understand the "oh man, why me?" response to being the poor car that has to go to the very end of a newly started row, but it's not something that I go out of my way to avoid since it's really just a few extra steps to the bazillion steps I'll be taking that day.

Oh see that makes sense as to why he did it then. I wouldn't want the chance for my ankle swelling anymore. I'm assuming it wasn't an on-site resort otherwise I would've just taken the buses the avoided parking all together.

I can't tell you how many times we end up being one of the first cars in a new row (just about every single time we park). It gets old. However, we just park and walk it.

To the OP - I feel your pain, lol. My DH probably would not have ignored the CM and done his own thing because he would not have wanted to contend with me for his behavior... however, he is one of those people that will circle 50 times at the mall/grocery/restaurant, etc to get a closer spot. my response to him is this: by the time you have circled you could have already parked and been inside. To me it's a complete waste of time and very silly. I think it has to do with his competitive side, you know like he thinks he got a better spot than someone else, lol.
At WDW it seems that the general consensus (at least for my family and circle of friends) is follow the rules, pay attention to the CMs and be courteous always.:goodvibes

My peeve is when I am leaving a shopping center and get to my car (I see spots 20 feet further on up) yet a car will pull behind me and turn their blinkers on. So I feel compelled to throw whatever I have into the seat and rush to get out. I'm sorry, if me leaving would open the last spot in the lot, perfectly understood, but walk 20 more feet people!

Those poor parking CMs often have the most guests not following what they say or getting yelled at for saying it, despite the fact that they absolutely KNOW the way which things are supposed to go and direct people as such. Driving around after a CM directs you seems pointless and probably made the CM laugh because once you're in a lane of spaces, you're not going to get any closer unless you come back in the evening.

To counteract this, walk to your car in the row next to the one your car is in, and then cross over to your car once you reach it. The person "stalking" you can sit there and crawl in their car all they want. In the end, they will realize that they are in the wrong row since your car is one row over! :thumbsup2

Not really true. They start the rows at the far end. So for example, the last car to park in row M is right next to the tram. The first car to park in row N is probably 50 cars away on the other end.

I remember one time we went to Animal Kingdom and when we got to the parking lot they were just starting a new row. I had my mom with me who wasn't in the best of shape, obviously elderly, so I asked if we could park at the beginning of the row. CM said no, go to handicapped parking. She didn't need handicapped parking, I just wanted to give her a little break on walking. We went to the end of the row as instructed. I thought the cm was rude.
