Is This Common With Thrifty Shuttles?

We concluded our latest Thrifty rental on Sunday, and the wait for a shuttle bus to return to the airport was a little longer than usual because the driver of the first bus that pulled up said, "Sorry, I'm going on break." Okay, not a problem...we waited about ten more minutes and another shuttle pulled up. That's the longest we've had to wait with Thrifty so far.
We piled in, along with two other parties. Then, as the shuttle chugged along, I noticed that we turned off by the hotels instead of going to the airport. The driver went to the Holiday Inn Select, and a woman from the back of the shuttle said, "No, I said the Quality Inn, not the Holiday Inn."
Now I was confused, as I didn't even know the buses went to the hotels and if they did, I would think they would go to the airport first because people who need to catch planes are generally on a tighter schedule than those who are going to a hotel.
I don't even know where the Quality Inn is, but thankfully the driver went to the airport first. Traffic was really bad due to the vehicle searches, so it took us a long time to get there, UIt reminded me why I always leave plenty of time.
Just wondering if it's common for Thrifty's airport buses to go to hotels, too, and for them to go to the hotel first. If this is more common than I thought, I'll build in some more extra time just in case.

I've rented from a number of agencies, including Thrifty, and I've never experienced this pattern. Good that he took airport people first!
