I've decided to forfeit a solo vacation to Vegas by myself and stick close to home and do something with the kids instead. We usually go on a disney trip every May but were doing a Disney Cruise in September instead. That's so far away :(

I want to surprise the kids and take them to an indoor waterpark hotel. The price is so expensive but I know they will just love it and have a blast.

It's cocokey resort in nj.

Here is my dilemia....

On Friday's the waterpark opens from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. so if I book the waterpark package on Friday the price is only $170. If I book the package on a Saturday the price shoots up to nearly $225.00 . The website says that for each night you get up to 2 days waterpark access...so im correctly assuming that they figure you're checking out on that second day that you have access.

Im thinking ...I can book for the Friday ..use the waterpark that afternoon...and than get a room only reservation for that Saturday . The room only reservation is only $109. If you get up to 2 days access...We should be able to have access to the waterpark all day Saturday as well.

However I feel as though that may be cheating the system...They have two night waterpark packages that are close to $500 for access for both friday and Saturday..and the day you check out.

Im worried because I think if i book two seperate reservations they are gonna catch on to what I did and may not allow us access to the waterpark on that Saturday ...eventhough it says you get up to 2 days access...

Is that cheating the system??Or im a just crafty mom that isnt cheating the system but just trying to save a couple bucks ?

I wrote an email to the resort asking if what im planning to do is cheating but they dont respond until 72 hours or so ...

I would call to verify what "up to two days of waterpark access" means. It sounds too good to be true, so you will need to be sure staying for Friday also includes Saturday's passes.

At Great Wolf Lodge (another indoor water park resort hotel) your room key/water park pass is good from when you check in until closing the day you check out. This place might have a similar rule.

I don't think it is "Cheating the system" at all. They set up their policies and they stipulate that what you are trying to do is forbidden, so I say go for it! One question, it will cost you a bit more, but have you considered Great Wolf Lodge in the Poconos?

Edit:

I just wanted to add that I don't think they would have a problem with it since you are actually giving them more money. $279 ($170 + $109) vs. $225. You are simply adding an additional "room only" night. If you just did Saturday, you would have access to the park on Sunday, same thing.

So for your Friday reservation you would have Friday waterpark access and then some portion of Saturday likely. Saturday night you could use your room but would not have access to whatever portion is not included from the
Friday night stay and you would have no access Sunday if I am reading into this correctly. Doesn't seem like cheating....

I stayed at one of these hotel water parks in Indianapolis. The water park pass was good until close of business on day of check out, just like at GW Lodge.

I don't think you'd be cheating the system according to the bolded below. It sounds like you'd have waterpark access all day Saturday while they are open.
I don't think you can spend Saturday night at the hotel (if you book room only) and then use the waterpark Sunday morning before you leave, if that is what you are planning.

ETA, I just asked my dd what we did when we went to cocokey (not the one in NJ though) and she said we checked out and then went to the waterpark and hung out there for a while, until some kid threw up in the pool anyway  So it looks like we were able to use the waterpark after our room checkout time.

I would call and ask. The last time we stayed at a hotel, the bands were good from 10AM one day to 11AM the following day. We could use the park both days, but it was not 2 full days. Maybe they run a special on Friday to get people into the hotel. I would just verify before you book. If it is within the rules, then it's not cheating the system. They are providing a discount to you to get you to book Friday night. Good Luck!:thumbsup2

um I don't think it is cheating because you basically don't want the waterpark passes on Sunday right? With the package deal you would have that and you are forgoing it... FYI Great wolf may say your passes are good at check in but if you arrive earlier they tell you to go ahead and go to the park to wait for your room, and then you are allowed the whole next day...

We have a waterpark that we used to go to and it was the same thing. We got all day Friday and Saturday. Your bands were good for the whole day. Most people do not spend the extra money to stay a night and you get really tired, so you see many of the Friday people leaving by lunch on Saturday. But you will have your room. We always did the same thing and the hotel/waterpark is well aware of it.

Have a great trip.

I don't think its cheating. I've stayed at Coco Key in Massachusetts and the wristband you got was good until the WATERPARK closed, not until check out.

Ok great!! Thanx you guys..Now I can book ....I think i found a great loophole. We dont need access on Sunday we'll be leaving to go back home and we dont want to leave wet with pool hair lol ...friday evening and all day Saturday is plenty.

Not cheating we do water park hotels all the time. It is all day the day you check in till the end of the day you check out. Now they may have you change rooms with the way your doing it so you may have to pack up and put stuff in the car till another room is ready but your not cheating the system. If you book the water park package for Saturday night you would have all day Sunday access for the extra cost.

That isn't cheating at all, at least at the waterpark resorts we've gone to. Your waterpark passes are good from the time you check in (even if it is before the "room is ready" check-in time) until closing on the day you check out. So a Friday stay would give Fri & Sat waterpark access.

We love CoCo Key but live 45 minutes away from the Boston area one. We purchase the $15.00 day passes when they have them. I'm guessing since you are willing to stay two nights that a day trip is not possible but I thought I'd throw it out there anyway.

Nothing unethical at all and I am sure they are aware that a lot of folks do just that. Only thing to be aware of is that you MAY have to change rooms for that second night. Most likely not, but as it is a different reservation they could require it.

I bet the "up to 2 days access" is just meant to cover them if someone checks in one day, and their checkout day is a day the waterpark is entirely closed. In that case, they are only getting checkin day. So it's "up to 2" for them. But if the waterpark is open for the Friday and the Saturday, and you're staying Friday night, then you get the 2 days.

I know it's not Great Wolf, but I've had the opportunity to talk to the employees there because they have a booth at my local homeschool convention, and they absolutely talk up the TWO days of waterpark when you just book one night. It's probably the same.

As long as you aren't expecting (and you aren't) access on the Sunday, I bet they see you as a win-win situation. You get what you would get with one night AND you are giving them even more money!

Ask them what "up to two" means. Don't say (add) any words about Saturday or half day or park closing, let the hotel staff say (volunteer) those words and any restricitons.
