Is this acceptable?

The expected this thread to get heated, too, but this comment caught me by surprise:

So, if I read what you are saying right, no one should ride TSM more than once per day? So if I get there at rope drop and get FP, I shouldn't ride in standby? Or I shouldn't get another fastpass at 11:00 AM (provided that they still exist)?

If I'm willing to stand in a 50 minute standby, I should only do so if I haven't ridden already, because I am somehow depriving you of a chance to ride. Um, could you not also stand in standby, or get to the park early enough to get a FP?

Are there other attractions that I should also limit my use of? If so, what are the polite limits? One safari per day? Two? What's the number for Everest? Do these limits only come into play when the lines are long... is it okay for me to keep walking on to a ride if the lines are short? Are there posted limits that I can review?

Let's take it further. We've been to Chef Mickey's, should we not get ressies for our next trip so that others who have not been (and did not plan) can get our spot? What about the Pirates League... same thing?

Should we not get there early for parades and fireworks, until we are sure that those who haven't planned accordingly have seen the shows?

Honestly, I'm not trying to be disrespectful... I am really trying to wrap my head around what seems to me to be a very strange idea. This isn't me buying up all of the Tickle Me Elmos to sell on eBay for a huge profit, thus denying your little one of their treasured toy on Christmas. This is me making it a point to do a priority attraction early so that I can do it twice, if I so choose. I am having a tough time with the concept that I am somehow wrong by doing so... but I'm open to discussion on the matter.

Just saying give someone else a chance, that's all. Don't make it more complicated than it is. It was my opinion and/or request. Don't care and/or don't agree? That's fine.

I wasn't attacking you, just asking. Is this just for TSM, or for all popular rides? How do I know who I am giving a chance to? If I attend an EMH, is it okay to ride then, and still ride later in the day, or should I only ride once no matter what?

This concept seems to me to be like asking me to stick my finger into a piece of wood in order to receive sustenence - i.e. it is a completely alien idea, and I truly have no frame of reference as to what you are asking me to do... so I'm trying to understand.

My impression is that everyone at the park has an equal chance to ride TSM as often as everyone else. I don't see how riding it twice is somehow unfair; if you get into line while the park is open, you ride. It's that simple.

On our very last day (October 10th), we rode TSM once, via fastpass. At one point during the day, the line hit 130 minutes for standby.... ouch.

Since we were doing other things that day (characters, shows, etc), we ended up riding it only the one time; it just didn't seem to make sense to stand in that crazy line, and we missed the window for possibly getting a second FP. My two year old cried after we got off; he wanted to ride again, but there was no way he could take that line by that point in the day.

It never crossed my mind that somebody was somehow depriving us of our chance. Had we wanted to ride it again, we had no one to blame but ourselves; we knew the score.

It seems to me that you are suggesting that it is somehow wrong for someone to ride twice (or even more often than that) since the ride is so popular. My questions to you stand - who determines which attractions are too popular to be done more than once, what are the guidelines, what is fair, etc. I just can't seem to comprehend you, so I'm asking for guidance.

I guess to follow that logic some could say, you should not go to WDW more than once to "give someone else a chance". Why make it complicated for others?

There no other ride in WDW that I know of that has 3 hours waits on a daily basis and runs out of FP's by 10am. So yea, just strickly TSM. I said it mostly as a gag, I know no one will listen to what I said seriously.

Once a year? Sure, I'll go with that.

Since what I said was only meant for ONE DAY and not for a whole trip. Just once a day... how hard is that? Too hard for the selfish?

Ah, a joke that went over my head, I follow now. I had taken your two posts on the subject seriously, and was trying to figure out how somebody riding it twice was taking away someone else's chance.

Sorry I missed the joke.

Wait, nevermind. Not a joke, after all. More of an "my idea isn't passing the logic test, so I'm writing it off as a joke".

Unless I'm missing another level of the joke. Entirely possible!

I fail to see how riding TSM twice is selfish. If you want to ride twice, you get there early and get a FP, then wait in the standby line. Or wait in the standby line twice. ANYONE can do the above - it's not limited to the rich, the famous, the onsite guests, or the hyper planners.

It does require for you to make a choice, but you do this every day in WDW (and in life).

I guess I must be selfish. I literally cannot comprehend how riding twice is a bad thing to do, and you haven't given me any reasons to think otherwise.

Where did I say once a year? I said once. By going every year since you were three just makes it harder on other people right?

Popcorn offends me.

You, madam, are a snackist. I have reported you to the mods for your narrow-minded views. When will we, as a nation, learn to be tolerant of one another's snacking habits??? WHEN?!?!?!

Careful. Using logic can be dangerous...

Never again.

In fact, I would strongly urge that no one extend any digits or appendages into wood.

Splinters?

Is it acceptable for one person of your party to stand in line and get fast passes to TSMM while the rest of the party gets in the standby line and the FP person meet you in the line?

I don't want to get a bunch of dirty looks while I am trying to meet up with the rest of my party.

ETA: Thank you everyone again. I didn't realize this was a heated topic so I apologize for bringing it up. We will plan accordingly and all wait together or meet before going into the inside part of the builiding. Better to ask here before actually getting to the parks and learning that it is frowned upon ;)
You all have been most helpful.

Is it acceptable? Probably not, but its done all the time. I have yet to see any one get yelled at for it. Most people just let it slide.

Tomorrow, tomorrow, we will embrace others snack habits tomorrow, it only a day away....

Careful. Using logic can be dangerous...

Especially on the Dis ;)

Bad termites :scared1: (VAMPIRE termites) :rotfl2:

Well, if you must know, I am allergic to popcorn and seeing someone enjoy something that I can't have is very painful to me.
