Is this acceptable or considered cutting in line?

I wouldn't have a problem with it. If they were so far ahead of me in line, I really wouldn't have any idea as to why he was late getting there. Maybe he was going to the restroom? I'm not going to quiz the guy before I let him pass. It's just one guy. That one person isn't going to make my wait any longer and the odds that everyone in front of me would be doing that are pretty slim.
Okay, now consider this scenario - not so much with Winnie the Pooh, because it's a continuous loading ride, but let's say... Aladdin's Magic Carpets.
Mom and two kids get in line. Dad is getting Splash Mountain FastPasses.
Your family of four is immediately behind them.
Dad enters the Aladdin line (for the first time) and bypasses everyone else.
Their family is the last group allowed into the carpets on a given cycle.
The attraction needs to be shut down right after that cycle, for an undetermined amount of time (weather, protien spill, mechanical issue...).
If that family had waited for Dad to catch up, and then all entered the line together, YOUR family would have been on that last cycle instead.

Selfish people wanting to make sure they get to do everything because "Hey it cost me a lot of money to come to Disney World" yeah ~ I know!
Ah, right. The old, "this trip cost me x-thousand dollars and I'll I can do anything I want!}".

Do those people maybe think considerate Guests' vacations cost less, or were free, or something?

Stupid just stupid!!! Some ppl make me ill in the stomach! For the ppl who get pissy about holding a spot for a family member what if it was YOU who had to go to the bathroom or had to take a child of yours to the bathroom and had to leave the line and come back... that would be ok wouldn't it.
Oh, sure, it'd be fine... oh, except, oops. I travel alone. I don't have anyone to hold my place in line. If I have need to leave a line to go to the bathroom, I have NO choice BUT to wait in line all over again.

I am only laughing at that statement b/c I could just see myself standing in line with my kids in the hot sun and them saying that the sunning is hurting their head/eyes/whatever (since we have been standing there for 30 minutes) and I say ~This is the price we pay for having fun~ to them.
Respectfully, there are sunglasses (ALWAYS advisable, even for the smallest children, outdoors), hats, and personal fans - all to protect or provide comfort from heat and sun.

Either way it is a stupid thing to get your panties in an uproar over... and yes that may be the dictionary definition.... but to me and I am sure others a father joining the line withhis family after the fact is not budding,
Respectfully, but with some tongue-in-cheek - perhaps it would be advisable for DISers who feel it the OP's and similar scenarios are acceptable to, when in line at Disney, wear t-shirts that state, "It's okay to cut in front of me in line" :rotfl2:

Would this be considered line cutting? During the Year of a Million Dreams my DH and I went to WDW with another couple. While we were in the process of getting fastpasses for Soarin my friend jokingly said to one of the CMs "What are our chances of going to the front of the line?" The CM responded "Actually, the chance is very good." He stopped us from getting the fastpasses and then took us to the front of the line. We were given a certificate which stated we had a wish granted. I guess some people would be upset that we cut the line. ;)
No, it would not be considered cutting. It would be considered a little bit of Magic. Congratulations!

Thread moved to "Transportation" forum, because, well, it needs the traffic.
Respectfully, we do just fine there with the existing traffic :teeth:. And no, we don't bite.

Stop on by!

WOW......
If we all got this concerned about Line cutting, mug reusing, pool hoping, bubbles in line, parking at resorts, stroller issues ...... the list goes on and on............. The happiest place on earth would turn into the grouchiest place on earth.

So to the OP... just like ANYTHING in life... some people won't like it and some people won't care.
Sorry that your simple question turned into THIS.

We are talking about respect and consideration about line cutting. Let's also have some for this poor OP who asked a simple question. ;)

Nope by definition in your aladdin scenario that's cutting! Whether you have devine intervention or not, by your definition, it's cutting. But hey it's the priciple of the thing right?

This is the problem with the way this thread has gone...there are too many scenarios and "what ifs" here. I answered for the scenario brought up by the OP, and I don't consider it line cutting.

But in your particular scenario, it sounds like the line must be moving quickly - I have not been provided with where the family was coming from so I'm assuming it's taking him about 10-15 minutes. So, I would not be upset that I only wasted 10-15 minutes standing in line - big deal.

And if you want to get even MORE technical...DH and I don't have any children, so we would not be riding Aladdin's magic carpet ride.

What if, what if.

I'd rather miss a ride than to be a complete b***h to someone & ruin their day and mine just because someone went to get a FP & rejoined their family.

I am shocked this is still going.... and also that is hasn't been locked.

I think we can all agree to disagree and look at it this way:

do what you think is right ~ and if you think it is the right thing to do then don't worry about what others think about it.

I would say that if you didn't think that cutting in front of me was a good idea, I wouldn't have to confront you about it, would I? How about just doing what is right and having your whole family together before getting in line? Why is that so hard to do?

This thread made me think of a post I saw recently, where a girl went to the trash can to throw her empty cup away, a mother asked her if she could have her cup, the girl gave it to her, and the mom proceeded to have her DS pull his junk out in front of everyone and pee in the cup!!! :rotfl::laughing: Now THAT's something you don't see every day!

I also find it funny that questions like this always boil down to "RIGHT" or "WRONG" with some people. I think maybe we could talk courtesy, being inconsiderate, etc, but I really don't think MORALITY plays a part, regardless of where you stand on the issue.

I would not have a FP runner join me in a line. I would let others do it without being angry and/or snarky about it. But I think it's plain WEIRD that people get in a tizzy about using FP after the return window. You have to give the CM your FP, they are well aware of the window, and they let you do it. Without a second thought. My understanding is this is their policy. I have never been turned down, and I always ask, "Is it still okay to use this?" They always say, "absolutely!" How is that "wrong"? I prefer to think of the window as a suggested return time (except coming back too early, of course!) I will do this as long as they allow it, and I LOVE it!!! If that's "wrong", then I don't wanna be right!!! ;)

I would say tacky at the least and would have something to say if it was done by me. How would you feel if you waited in say Toy story Mania then you see someone cutting through this large line just to get to his family who could or would not play by the rules like the rest of us??:headache::headache::headache:

So you are willing to let a empty seat go by just on the fact that it's a rule that in reality doesn't exist? Elementary School mantality...

It wouldn't bother me in the least. 1 or 2 people is no biggie. But if it's 3 or more I might be a little miffed.

I agree for a couple of family/party members, but I have seen the kids from Brazil have a couple in line and here comes a dozen more. They show no respect for the CM's or the other folks in line. I contacted security and they pretty much did nothing except tell them cutting lines was against park rules. Said they could not be sure of who cut in line because they all had the same shirt on. I told him to throw the whole bunch out. Did not happen.

I agree, large groups joining other groups is AWFUL. But if one person is joining to sit with the rest of his group I really dont have a problem.
