If I get in a line, and your DH is not in the line when I get into it, then he is obligated to get behind me when he arrives. Going past me, if he had never been ahead of me in the line before, is line jumping or line cutting.
Honestly, how much more difficult is it for your family to take a bathroom break, get a snack, or simply sit down and rest for a few minutes while one member of the party goes to get FPs? Just have a little patience and wait till your party is together before you enter the line. You'll avoid causing bad feelings among others in the line and it won't delay you more than a few minutes, and you can actually use the time productively if you use it for a bathroom or snack break.
If it were only the father catching up to the rest of the family, I wouldn't have a problem with it. However, if the father were in line & the rest of the family came to catch up with him, then I'd be cranky. I guess it's a numbers game to me.
You obviously don't have toddlers.I do agree it could be annoying if a bunch of people showed up and cut in front, but there are circumstances (ie. a toddler who can't hold it after waiting in line for an hour to see Peter Pan). I really don't find this the end of the world and wouldn't ruin my vacation.
Disney's answer to your question is this; "please have all of your party together before you get in line."
the official answer always seems to be best for me!!!Disney's answer to your question is this; "please have all of your party together before you get in line."

If me and the kids jump in line for The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and send DH to get Fastpasses for Peter Pan - on his way back, would he be able to get back in line with us? Or is this frowned upon or considered 'cutting'?
