Is This a Sign Of Things To Come?

Universal does this too, but on a smaller scale. In lieu of the FP+ system, you have to pay for an upgraded Express Pass. If you want to eat breakfast at the Three Broomsticks, you have to purchase the Harry Potter Package.

Does it suck? Yes, absolutely.

This is not exactly true. You don't have to pay for an upgraded Express pass at all times. If you stay at one of the three deluxe resorts(which are usually cheaper than Disney mods and even the values at times) you get Express Pass included and there is no planning, restrictions or scheduling to use it. As a day guest or one at the value resort you can choose to purchase various levels of the Express Pass if you'd like. You can also eat breakfast at Three Broomsticks or Leaky without purchasing a package. You can't reserve a certain time like with the HP package but that's not really necessary anyway. If you want to eat breakfast at 3B or LC just show up and there is either no wait or a small one of a 5-10 minutes.

Disneyland currently has Extra Magic Hours for hotel guests only (free) and Magic Mornings (small fee and 3 day ticket required) for people staying off property. I'm guessing that's what this could be.

7 pages of speculation because a place holder showed up on the website. From what I understand that same place holder has been sitting out there for AK and HS for a while now and it wasn't even a blip on the radar.

There are two different placeholders, the one at all parks that you are referring to and the one now showing more detail for Magic Kingdom.

If it's on the HUB the info has been released to cast members, treat it as official.

Not getting a specific ADR would def not ruin our entire trip, but this is our only time going to WDW so of course I want to make the most of it - and to get that ADR, I apparently have to plan it 180 days out. I would much rather Disney do away with ADRs and let us just put our names on a list the day of, like any other restaurant - we can always walk around or do something else while we wait...is that an option?

Our friends just went to WDW in February, supposedly a "slower time". Not planners, thought making ADRs and FP reservations was ridiculous. Know what happened the first day? They went to MK and could not do ANYTHING. The lines for the FP kiosks were too long to stand in with their small kids, let alone rides. They actually left after a few hours because it was no fun. Spent the next day at their hotel, stalking MDE for one character meal during their trip and making FPs for other days....still only ended up doing a few "big rides" the entire trip. In FEBRUARY.

I'm just trying to avoid that! :o

Which day in February? Just curious. We've seen crazy crowds in February.

While I know this doesn't guarantee anything, there's a post on DPB about the DAH. There's a line that says "NOTE: Disney Resort Guests will continue to be able to enjoy Extra Magic Hours, while this new event takes place on different dates and is another option for enjoying Magic Kingdom."

The tiny small handicapped lot did not change - but it is way too small for MK so they use Jafar for HC as well. Jafar, the larger overflow handicapped lot where many of us already park, is the one that has been announced to be used for this. So unless you are the small group who arrive at very early/rope drop for the tiny lot, then you will likely be moved to another lot.

- Preferred Parking is being tested in Jafar. Jafar was the overflow handicapped lot that was always available no matter when you arrived.
- If they don't allow handicapped to share with Preferred then HC parking will have to move.
- Because we enter from the East drive, logic would say they would move us to Zurg. A much longer walk for a park that is already hard to get to for folks with physical issues.
- If they have success with Preferred maybe they will move it to Aladdin to sell more spots and is actually the real preferred lot location - but for now early birds get it for free...
- Now they could change Aladdin to the extra HC but getting there past other lots during morning hours means weaving through people heading to tram which isn't safe and they seem to have avoided doing at parks the last couple years.

[At Epcot they are also using the lot where the too small HC parking is and they let us park in the regular spots right behind them where Preferred will now be. If Preferred becomes a success I could see complaints that it has come at the expense of HC parkers.]

Ok. Thanks. When we went in 2012, we never had any trouble getting into the regular HC parking even at non rope drop times. This time we are planning to ride the bus to rope drop but drive all the other times (coming back from midday breaks), so I guess we will see if we can get into the regular lot or not.

I see there has not been any more information released on this which I have to honestly say I am content for the moment. Our May trip has become some what of a roller coaster ride in the last month or so. Just hoping this is something that will start after our vacation. Taking it day by day and nervous with each waking hour. I was anxiously awaiting ROL but that has no turned in to fear that if I want my family to see it that Disney my find away to charge some ungodly amount for us to do so. Our trip can not come fast enough and I can only hope that no more shocking news to mess with Our plans. What a nail biter!!!

ArwenMarie: I THINK they went right after Valentine's Day, so...the week starting Feb 14?

Oosh, I'm glad our trip is only 2 weeks away--hopefully that's before they implement any of these changes! I'd hate to lost my pre-park open BOG ADR...
