"Is This A Ride"? Our Disney Honeymoon Adventure 5/16-5/24

I'm from WA

And now I'm super hungry after looking at your pics!

Okay..caught up now. Your wedding pictures are spectacular. As I said, you were a lovely bride (and so hubby don't feel bad...he looks good too). I love the popcorn idea -- superb!

Great update on the arrival day at the resort. We've never stayed at POR, but we've visited and it is a very pretty resort.

I think it very funny that DH kept asking "is this a ride?" But he obviously fell in love with Disney so that's good.

Thank you!

POR is my favorite resort that we have stayed at. But I don't have much to go on. I have only stayed at POP, POR, and YC :lmao:

I loved your wedding pictures.. What a neat idea to have your wedding in a theater :thumbsup2

Thank you! Josh and I love that theater :goodvibes

I love so many of the pictures, but my favorites are:
-The two of you under your veil (romantic :lovestruc)
-You looking up at your flower girl (so cute! :cutie:)
- You with your bridesmaid (that red looks awesome, it just pops!)
- The cupcakes (because they look yummy! popcorn::)

I've always wondered what made you decide to get married in a movie theatre? I've worked at one for many years when I was younger and never thought about somebody getting married there. Looking at your pictures, it seems like a very cool idea. :)

Thanks :goodvibes. I have a funny story about how we decided to have the wedding in the movie theater. I actually had a dream about it! We were struggling to find a local wedding venue that was in our budget. I had a weird dream one night that involved getting married at the Chalet Theatre. I knew that they did parties, so it wasn't like the dream came out-of-the blue. At first I thought it was ridiculous, but after checking the theater out we decided that it was a good idea :goodvibes

Jumping over from your mom's PTR. I laughed so hard at the video.

Love the wedding pics - esp the one of you and Zoe.

 and welcome! Thanks :goodvibes. I love the one with Zoe and I. I can't wait to see the formal pictures with Josh, Zoe, and I.

Congratulations on your marriage! Beautiful wedding photos:love:

How cute was that when your hubby ran out for the ME bus - sounds like he was excited to get his trip started!

Thank you! It was adorable when he ran out to the busses :goodvibes. He was very excited!

:thumbsup2 Beautiful pictures - beautiful bride, beautiful wedding party!

Thanks! I love my bridesmaid's dresses to pieces :lovestruc. Totally worth the four hours it took to pick them out :lmao:

I'm from WA

And now I'm super hungry after looking at your pics!

 Hello fellow Washingtonian! Are you talking about the cupcakes, the boatwrights pics, or all of the above? They were all very yummy :goodvibes

I just came across your TR and wanted to say hi :) We were at POR around the same time as you guys (May 17th-22nd). Hope you had a wonderful time and congrats on the wedding! The photos are gorgeous.

Sorry it has been so long since my last update! I did get my photopass CD in the mail yesterday. Unfortunately, it won't work on my computer or Josh's! I am going to try my parents later this afternoon. I spent money on this dang thing, it better work!

We last left off with Josh and I heading back to our room for some sleep. Well, when we returned to our room we expected to find our luggage waiting for us. It wasn't there. So I went to call the luggage service to find out why our luggage had not arrived (over five hours after our plane had landed). I noticed that we had messages waiting for us on the hotel room phone. I thought that they might have something to do with our luggage, so I checked the messages. The first one was our first little bit of pixie dust . Mickey and Minnie had left us a cute little message saying congratulations. I put the message on speaker and replayed so Josh could hear it. It was so cute! Minnie told us how "romantic" it was that we were celebrating our honeymoon with Disney :goodvibes. The next message was from the manager of the hotel. He also congratulated us on our marriage and told us to call the front desk if there was anything we needed. That was my next stop. Well, I called luggage services. They told me that they were running a little behind and our luggage would be to our room at about midnight :scared1:. Fortunately, Josh and I packed everything we needed for the first night in our carry-ons. I got ready for bed and went to sleep, while Josh stayed up a little bit to get our luggage. It did arrive a little after midnight. I woke up just long enough to see that our things had arrived safely. After bringing our luggage inside, Josh joined me.

So we woke up the next morning at 7am. I was determined to make it to RD by 9am! After a very short walk and bus ride, we arrived at MK around 8:30.

029.jpg

It wasn't too terribly crowded. We found a spot where we could see the ceremony.

030.jpg

Josh is excited to watch the RD ceremony.

032.jpg

I snapped a few photos while we were waiting.

After RD we headed to one of the most popular rides in Disney World...

Dumbo!
038.jpg

033.jpg

Josh is excited to go on the flying elephant.

035.jpg

I love the wet paint signs. I took this while waiting in a 10 min line for Dumbo.

040.jpg

Josh wanted a green elephant. It is his favorite color :goodvibes

047.jpg

Castle picture!

After Dumbo we were supposed to go on Snow White. However, the lines were getting much longer than I anticipated. They were all still under 20 minutes but I could see that they were getting long very fast. I know why. Here is a little tip: Usually Fantasyland is empty in the morning because there is usually a showing of Dream Along with Mickey about 15-30 minutes after the park opens. This closes the main path that leads into fantasyland. Now there are ways to get into fantasyland after the castle closes, but crowds typically either stop in front of the castle to watch the show, or go around the castle and visit attractions in the other lands. This morning, the first showing was at 10am, allowing the first mass of people to enter fantasyland through the main entrance.

So we skipped SW and the carousel and proceeded to Peter Pan. Josh loved it. He had never been on a dark ride before, so he was very impressed by the glowing paint and little character figures. He loved the part where the track under the boat disappeared. He wasn't expecting that :goodvibes

After that we went on IASW.

051.jpg

Josh waiting to go on IASW.

052.jpg

Josh seemed to like IASW. But I knew he would like the next ride a lot more. We headed to the tea cups!

054.jpg

053.jpg

He is so good at spinning the tea cups. I was so dizzy after we got off that I couldn't walk straight :lmao:. So of course, my next urge is to eat something :rotfl:. Actually, drink something. It was starting to get a little warm so I used my snack credit on a raspberry slushie from Enchanted Garden. It was sooo good!

062.jpg

After that we got FPs for space mountain. Then we headed back to fantasyland. The plan was to finish most of the attractions in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. We were supposed to go on Winnie the Pooh but the line was a little longer than Ridemax predicted (it was 20 minutes instead of 10). We decided to go on it on the EMH night. Instead, we wandered over to Mickey's Philharmagic. It is my favorite 3D show in Disney World. I love that it has lion king in it :goodvibes. Josh was also really impressed by it.

We went back to use up our Space Mt. fastpasses. Josh is a little afraid of roller coasters so instead of asking me "Is this A Ride"?, he asked me "Am I Going to Die"? :lmao: After convincing him that he would be fine, we got in line. He loved it, of course. On our way off of the ride a man asked us, "Hey, do you guys want to go on it again"? and my dh said yes. The man handed us two FPs and we hopped on it again!

After that our Ridemax plan told us to get FPs for Buzz Lightyear. While we were heading over there, we ran into a little blue monster...

Continued in next post...

We had a voice mail from Mickey and Minnie for our anniversary when we were there! It's such a small thing but it really made our day :) Philharmagic is one of my favorites at the Magic Kingdom. We ended up going twice because I loved it so much. Yay for extra fast passes!

So we got in line to see my favorite little blue monster...Stitch! The CM told us we were the last ones to get to see stitch because he needed a "coconut cake break" :rotfl:. While we were waiting, Buzz Lightyear walked by. Stitch ran over an turned him off! He then turned him back on and Buzz pointed to him like "Oh, it's this guy". When we got closer to meeting stitch, I noticed he did not have a photopass photographer. I was paranoid about getting a photopass because I had paid so much for a photopass CD. I asked the CM if he had one and he said, "No. Stitch ate the last camera so they won't give us photopass guys anymore" :lmao:. I love what the CMs come up with when they are talking about stitch. Anyway, I was hot and said, "Oh, we should probably just go then" and Josh and I started to walk away. The CM said, "Oh no. Do you have a camera? I'll take your picture!" So we got back in line and got a picture with stitch. This was one of the only character interactions we got on the entire trip. Stitch tried to steal my ring and poor Josh was confused by the fact that stitch couldn't talk.

063-1.jpg

064.jpg

After we got our FPs for Buzz Lightyear, we went to...

Monster's Inc Laugh Floor!
065.jpg

068.jpg

Josh also seemed to like this. I thought this was the best showing of it that I had ever seen. One of the monsters picked out a woman from the audience and asked her who the guy was sitting next to her. She said, "My boyfriend". He asked them how long they had been together and the guy told him three years. The monster then asked, "Where's the ring"? The guy said it was in the works, and the monster replied, "Well get it out of the works or you'll muck up the works"! Later, when the monster picked the girl out again to show us his "mind reading power", she asked her to make antenna. She seemed confused, but then her boyfriend did it for her. Then the monster exclaimed, "Look! He is good for something!" :lmao:

We were getting pretty hungry by this point so we wandered over to Frontierland to get a turkey leg. Along the way, we saw some animals.

All of these pictures were taken on the 17th. Most of them were taken right by Frontierland or on our way to lunch.

We found out that a turkey leg could count as a QS credit and that it came with a bottled drink, a bag of chips, and a cookie. We decided to split the meal. Here are pictures of the turkey leg.

076.jpg

We destroyed it!

After lunch we were scheduled to go back for a nap. Josh and I weren't sleepy, so we decided to run around and go on rides instead. I can't remember exactly what order we went on things. I do remember we went on Haunted Mansion, the Hall of Presidents, POTC, and the Carousel of Progress. We also watched a parade somewhere in there.

084.jpg

085.jpg

Josh got a funnel cake for his SC while we watched the parade. We both ended up covered in sugar! But it brushed off easily so it wasn't a big deal.

The last ride we went on and the longest line we waited in (20 min) was Jungle Cruise. After that we headed to dinner at Kona.

We checked in for dinner really early (about 45 minutes ahead of our ADR) so we wandered around the shops for a bit. I bought a little mickey dishwasher suction cup thing. It spins and says "dirty" on one side and "clean" on the other. It is on our dishwasher in the apartment and I use it all the time.

After we were done shopping, our little buzzer thing still hadn't got off. We sat down in the chairs by Ohana and rested. We probably should have taken that nap earlier, because both Josh and I fell asleep! When we woke up (I think I was only half-asleep and I only had my eyes shut for 5 minutes or so), a couple was sitting across from us staring at us like we had some sort of disease :lmao:. It wasn't too much longer before our buzzer went off and it was time for dinner.

Kona is one of my favorite restaurants...so here comes the food porn!

Josh got the steak.

I got the white chocolate cheesecake

After dinner we took a monorail back to the MK and then we took a bus back to our hotel. We didn't really pay attention to what stop we were supposed to get off at (the north depot) and we got off at the first stop (the east depot). It was a very long walk back to the hotel room. Apparently, most people make this mistake once when they go to POR. We talked to a lot of guests on this trip and a lot of the POR guests asked us, "Did you get off at the wrong stop on your first night"? :lmao: Yes, yes we did.

When we finally got back to our hotel room we found this little guy on the bed.

106.jpg

And then we crashed. Next day: Epcot!

Great updates, Kira. Glad to hear Josh liked so many of the rides and seems to have found that Disney magic all of us DISer's have.

You guys sure make a really cute couple.

And tell Josh that my DH would be very pleased that your first ride was Dumbo. It is Mark's (my DH) favorite character and always our first ride at Disney.

Stitch is my favorite! Love it that you guys got to interact with him, and all the funny things he did or the CM said he did. :lmao:

Looks like a great first day! So funny that you both fell asleep in the chairs waiting for your ADR. :rotfl: It's so hard to leave a park mid-day when you are still having fun, but the lack of energy catches up with you later.

Thanks :goodvibes. I will definitely tell him. I thought Dumbo was a good first ride. Plus, the line gets long really fast! By the time we got off of the ride, the wait was already around 30 minutes (and we only had a ten minute wait).

Stitch is my favorite! Love it that you guys got to interact with him, and all the funny things he did or the CM said he did. :lmao:

I remember that Stitch is your favorite :goodvibes. The CMs in Tomorrow land are so funny. When a ride breaks down or something bad happens, they blame it on stitch :lmao:

Sorry it has been so long since my last update. I have been a little lazy. Here is what is currently going on in my life. My husband bought me a new car last week :goodvibes. It is a "Candy Apple Red" 2007 Ford Taurus. My little 1998 Malibu was dieing a horrible death. Poor thing. I do miss my first car, but my new car is sooo pretty! The professional photographer at our wedding sent us the CDs with all of our wedding photos. We have over 500 pictures! Here are a few of my favorites.

Our cake topper

Disney Update: I am considering going to Disney World with my family in December. If Josh can get the time off, and if we can get some sort of discount, we might be going. I did get my photopass CD to work in a Walgreens Kodak kiosk but I still haven't gotten the files onto my computer. I will get those onto here as soon as I can figure out a way to do it.

So we left off we Josh and I crashing at the hotel. The next morning we got up around 7am and got on the bus around 8am. Just in time for rope drop! It was my first rope drop at Epcot. IMO, the rope drop ceremony at Epcot is probably my least favorite (still cool, though). The characters come out and greet everyone, and then they drop the rope. Heavy on the "rope drop", light on the "ceremony". Here are some pictures:

003.jpg

002.jpg

So after RD, we headed to Test Track. Josh loved it, and there was no line, so we went on it a second time. After that we went on Spaceship Earth, then headed over to Club Cool. I was really sneaky and managed to get a great Beverly picture of Josh. I filled a cup with Beverly and told him to hold it up so I could take a picture of him. Then I snapped a picture right after he took a sip. Here are the two pictures:

005.jpg

006.jpg

He did NOT like it

Then it was time for Nemo!
023.jpg

Josh loves aquariums, so we spent some time looking at fishies. He got so excited when he saw the sea turtles! Unfortunately our camera only took a decent picture of one fish: Bruce! Here are some pictures of Josh with him.

012.jpg

013.jpg

After that we went to Turtle Talk. I always love Turtle Talk. I get a kick out of watching the kids react to Crush. Josh had a good time, too. When Crush asked us "humans" what we do at the beach, Josh answered "Freeze"! We live in Washington state and the ocean is very cold off of our coast. Usually the weather is pretty miserable, too.

After we were done there, we headed to the Living with the Land pavilion. We got FPs for Soarin'. We were supposed to get on Living with the Land but the ride had a 20 minute wait, so we skipped it. Then we went to lunch. We were planning on having lunch at Sunshine Seasons but Josh didn't see anything he liked, so we headed over to World Showcase. We split a ham and cheese sandwich and a lemon tart in France. Then we walked over to Germany and split a bratwurst and a pretzel (it counts as dessert).

014.jpg

Here is a picture of our lunch in France. I can't find the food porn from Germany. Sorry!

(continued in next post)

Great updates! You guys had such a fun day at MK...
I had to laugh at the people looking at you funny for falling asleep waiting for dinner... :rotfl: I fall asleep a lot (and Ben always takes a picture), so I can relate!

Every picture you post of your wedding is amazing!!!

After that we went over to the Imagination ride. I had taken my ears off for some reason and went I went to put them back on, the headband snapped :sad2:. Josh said we could buy me some new brides ears, so I slipped the old ones into my bag and we kept going.

Just as we were about to get on the ride, I saw a huge mass of people (about 50 people) in orange T-shirts. I said "Oh no!" under my breath and started walking faster, trying to get ahead of the mob. Josh asked me what was wrong and I said, "Tour Group"! The tour group blob had kind of separated into two big masses. The second mass was about 3 minutes behind the first mass. So we got in line behind the first group of people. When the second half of the tour group caught up, they cut in front of us without even asking! About 20 people just barged in front of us like they were a single human being, catching up with their family. I have no problem when one person (or two) gets left behind and needs to cut to catch up with their group, but 20 people? I am sorry, but rude tour groups are a huuuuge pet peeve of mine in the parks. I am sorry, people, but you are not one homogenous mass of human being! You don't need to all go on the same dang train :lmao:. Because it was the Imagination ride, we only had about a 5 minute wait (it would have been a walk on if not for the tour group, which took forever to load because they held the train while the second half was catching up).

After that whole experience, we went to use our Soarin' FPs. Josh really loved this ride. I think it was one of his favorites. We asked to wait for "B1" so we got the very center hang glider and we were on top. No feet dangling in front of us :goodvibes. I love doing that.

Then we went to check if the wait time for Living with the Land was shorter. It was now a walk on, so we hopped on a boat. Here is a picture of the alligators.

016.jpg

After that we went on Mission Space. Josh wasn't too sure about the Orange version (he is kind of a chicken when it comes to rides) so we went on the green version. He thought the green version was lame, so we grabbed FPs to ride on the orange version later.

It was getting hot, so we went back to the hotel for a nap. These guys were waiting for us on our bed.

017.jpg

After a much needed few hour long nap, we headed back to the parks for dinner. Coral Reef! When we got there, they told us they were running about 45 minutes to an hour behind the scheduled ADR time :scared1:. So we waited for a little while before we were able to eat. I went outside to snap some pictures of some baby ducks.

022.jpg

010.jpg

008.jpg

Duckling Ladder! I suspect that Disney puts these in so the baby ducks can get out of the pond.

We checked in for our ADR a little late, so we only had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated. And here comes the food porn!

026.jpg

My virgin Pina Colava (on the DDP). It is almost gone in this picture because it was so yummy! I started drinking before I grabbed the camera and I couldn't stop.

027.jpg

028.jpg

My lobster ravioli. It was pretty good. It was waaay to rich for my tastes, though. It also had rock shrimp on it, which I hated. The shrimp were really fishy. Add that to the parmesan cheese they put on top (cheese+fishy fish=yucky), and the dish was a little too overpowering for me. I wouldn't get it again. Plus, who wants to eat just 5 little pieces of pasta? It was too rich and not very filling.

029-1.jpg

Josh's steak with horseradish mashed potatoes. I wished I order his food. It was really yummy. Josh says he still dreams about those potatoes.

035-1.jpg

Josh's Chocolate Wave. He said he didn't like it very much. The icky-looking goo inside turned him off. I ate his sorbet.

036.jpg

My key lime mousse. It was okay. It wasn't very sweet. I was really looking forward to having the almond gelato on the menu but they took it off :sad2:. The little brown things are chocolate covered peanuts. The mango was tart and bitter, the chocolate was bitter, and the key lime was tart. There wasn't a whole lot of sugar on that plate. But it is pretty.

030-1.jpg

Josh looking very thoughtful

033-1.jpg

032-1.jpg

A bad picture of the aquarium. We were seated in the second row, right next to the wall facing the aquarium. So we got a pretty good view :goodvibes

After dinner we headed over to use our Mission Space FPs. We went on the orange version this time. Josh thought the orange version was awesome.

We missed the beginning of illuminations because we didn't get off the ride in time, but we got to see most of it. Unfortunately some lady was blowing cigarette smoke in our face (we were NOT in a smoking section) and we had to move, which meant that we missed even more of the show. But that's okay. We got to see the show again on another day :goodvibes

The park was closing, but we weren't done yet! HS was open for another hour, so we decided to hop on a boat to that park. We only had time to go on one ride, so we picked Rock n' Rollercoaster. Josh was really scared by this one, but he was a trooper and went on it anyway. He loved it! It was his favorite ride of the trip. Josh loves acceleration (he is a car salesman, after all) and he loves Aerosmith. So what's not for him to like on the ride? We had just enough time to hop on it one more time before the park closed. Then we headed back to the hotel for some sleep.

Great updates! You guys had such a fun day at MK...

Every picture you post of your wedding is amazing!!!

Thank you :goodvibes. We had a blast at MK. Josh says it is his favorite park. I thought the people looking at us funny was pretty amusing, too. I loved our photographer. Almost all of the pictures she took were amazing. The only thing I wish is that she had done some more editing, but I can do that myself. Oh, and because it was pouring rain, there are some water spots on some of the pictures. We had to take the formals outside because the lighting in the theater sucked. We were dry, but our photographer (and her camera) had to stand in the rain. But no big deal. I think the spots add character :goodvibes

Love the picture of your bridesmaid dancing. :dance3:

Great updates so far, can't wait to read more.

Thank you! I love those pictures, too. There is a whole series of them. I would recommend that future brides do the cha cha slide at their wedding because it results in great action shots :goodvibes

The wedding photos were gorgeous! We didn't try Mission Space when we were at Epcot. I was too much of a wimp this time but maybe I'll give it a try next time.
