"Is This A Ride"? Our Disney Honeymoon Adventure 5/16-5/24

That is awesome they exchanged your ears for free... the food looks soo good. i am definitely gonna have to try earl of sandwich next time we go.. i am so jealous everytime i go to AK i never get to see the lions they are always hiding :)

I usually spot the female lions but I almost never get to see the male, let alone get a decent photo of him!

Mmmmmmm, your Earl of Sandwich meal looks amazing!

Sounds like it was a very good day- except for Josh's bite, of course!

EOS is amazing! Best use of a QS credit on this trip. The bite really wasn't that big of a deal after a few hours. His entire leg swelled up at first, though!

YUMMMM! I forgot how much I like Earl of Sandwich... :thumbsup2

Glad the bug bite turned out okay for Josh!

Thanks :goodvibes. I am glad it turned out okay, too. That could have been a trip to the hospital (if the bite looked any worse we would have gone), but the swelling went down so fast that we decided not to. By the time we were done searching for calamine lotion, he was already feeling better. Next time, I will bring an anti-itch cream. Just because your in Disney doesn't mean all the local critters are friendly. And Florida mosquitoes are huge!

Kira - just wanted you to know we are praying for Zoe and her speedy recovery! I'm sure you are tired trying to help look after her and your mom! Hugs to you all!

Wonderful update, Kira. We've never been to Tusker House (one of these days I have to fit it in).

I love the wedding picture of you and Josh sitting in the theater and looking at each other.

Glad Josh liked Tower of Terror (my personal favorite). Your dinner at EOS looks so yummy (we're going for the first time in September).

And just wanted you to know I'm holding your family close in my heart and prayers during this difficult time with Zoe's surgery, etc.

Wow! I've missed a lot of your updates. It looks like Josh was having a great time! Your wedding pictures look amazing. I'm terrified of RR and TOT. It was a feat to get me on Splash Mountain and EE last trip.

Thanks! EE is the best roller coaster, anyway IMO. I could go on that thing all day :goodvibes. RR isn't much more extreme, though.

Tusker is pretty good. I like lunch better than breakfast. They have the best desserts. I love the little mango tarts :goodvibes. EOS was the best use of a QS credit ever!

Thanks for kind words about Zoe. She is doing really great. She was so happy this morning. She is finally able to eat real food!

Thanks! We are all a little tired (especially Zoe). I have been going to the hospital every day after going to work (at 4 am). Yesterday I got up at 4am and didn't get to sleep until 2am! It's all good, though. Zoe should be able to go home in a few days. She got her epidural taken out this morning and they stopped her IV fluids because she is able to eat real food now. She was very happy that she got to eat real food today. Poor thing hasn't been able to eat or drink any solid food since June 29th!

Thanks to everyone for all of the well wishes :goodvibes. I hope you all have a very fun day tomorrow!

Congratulations on your wedding! I'm enjoying your report with the splash of wedding photos thrown in. I really love the bridesmaids dresses. It is a great red!!!

Thank you! I loved those bridesmaid dresses, too. They were one of my favorite aspects of the wedding . I also adore that red. I am so glad we went with that color instead of a pastel pink and lime green color scheme!

I'm glad to hear Zoe is doing better.

She is doing really well. I went up there again today and she was giggling and playing the whole time :goodvibes. Kids can bounce back from stuff like this so fast! I am amazed at how much better she is doing.

So I don't have a lot of pictures from this day. I also don't really remember this day clearly. It was really hot and the crowds were pretty high, so everything is a bit fuzzy. I do remember that we slept in until about 10am. We needed some cash to tip the housekeeping, so I went down to Fulton's. I bought two plastic water bottles and a cookbook for my family. Here is a picture of the gifts I bought for my side.

079.jpg

The cookbook was for my mom, the candy was for my dad, and the water bottles were for my sister and brother. I put chocolate coins inside the water bottles.

At about 11, we headed to the bus stop to go to Epcot. HS was supposed to be really crazy in the morning, so we decided to wait until our Mama Melrose ADR to hop over there.

029.jpg

Taking a video of Josh at the bus stop.

We wandered around Epcot for a bit. We checked out Innoventions and then headed to Club Cool for some drinks. We then decided to get some snacks. Josh grabbed a mickey ice cream bar and I got rice cream (OOP I think) and we sat down outside the cafe in Norway.

032.jpg

Josh really loved these ice cream bars. He got a few on the trip.

After we were done with our snack, we went on Universe of Energy. By the time we were off of the ride, it was time to go to HS. Our plan was to get on the boat to HS. It was about 93 degrees by this point, and walking across the pavement to the other side of Epcot was hell. I do not handle heat well. I could tell I was getting dehydrated, even though I had a huge cup of water with my rice cream earlier. By the time we got to the boat dock, I felt like I was going to pass out. To top it off, we were late for our ADR! I was so worried that they were going to charge us a no-show fee (this was our only meal that had a penalty for not showing up). I think the boat driver could tell I was upset (while we were waiting for the boat to show up, I kept asking him how long it would take to get there), so he started telling us jokes to "keep our mind off of the heat". I love the one about "which hotel at Disney has the least number of rooms". The tower of terror! I also loved it when he told us how to remember all of the names of the seven dwarfs. Two S's (Sleepy and Sneezy), two D's (Dopey and Doc), and three emotions (Grumpy, Happy, and Bashful).

When we got to the dock, we were about 30 minutes late for our ADR. We booked it across the park to Mama Melrose and ended up about 45 minutes late. By the time we got to the restaurant, both Josh and I felt like we were going to die because of the heat and the stress. The lobby of Mama Melrose was packed. They seemed to be running behind on their ADRs (we later found out that they were about an hour behind). I waited in an amoeba shaped line that was very confusing. Most of the people in the "line" were just complaining about how they weren't seated yet. I have a feeling they were accepting walk-ups, too (to further add to the confusion). So when I got up to what I thought was the front of the line, I checked in. Well, apparently the lady standing just to the right of the booth (who was chatting to someone next to her and wasn't paying a lick of attention to the line) was actually in "line" ahead of me. She lost her mind and starting screaming at me. "I was next! I have been waiting in line forever!". I apologized to her several times (she just made a little "hurumph" noise and checked in). I noticed that she was there before I checked in (she kind of glanced at me as I walked up to the booth), but I was too hot to get her attention and ask if she was next. Whatever. We were all hot. I didn't blame her for being cranky, and she shouldn't have blamed me for jumping ahead of her. Later, after she had checked in, I approached her again and apologized as sweetly as I could. She seemed less annoyed this time, but she was still obviously upset. She got seated way after us, so I think she was either a walk-up or had a much later ADR than us.

I don't know for sure if they were doing walk-ups or not that day. I forgot to ask. You would think that if they were running late on the ADRs that they wouldn't accept walk-ups (especially considering that it was the first day of star wars weekends). But it was so chaotic that I wouldn't be surprised to find out that they were accepting them.

After we were seated we ordered our drinks. A pom lemonade for me and a coke for Josh. We also both asked for water. I sucked my lemonade down in less than a minute. The waiter handed it to me, turned to the next table to give them their drinks, and then turned around to find me with an empty glass. He refilled it and brought it out very quickly. I drank 4 lemonades and 2 full glasses of water by the time we were done. Yeah...I was really thirsty.

Last time we went to Mama Melrose and did the Fantasmic Dining package, they allowed us to order any app (including the ones marked "for two"). This time, any apps marked "for two" had to be shared by two people. I really wanted the antipasto for two, but Josh wanted a Cesar Salad. I got the mozzarella and tomatoes instead. It was yummy, but I would have rather had the antipasto plate with the salami and olives. Mmmm. Here is a picture of our meal.

Josh's ahi tuna with some of his leftover salad on the side (to help clear an extra plate). We got the same thing. It was really good!

Our dessert. I got spumoni gelato and Josh got chocolate.

At the end of our meal, the waiter gave us our fantasmic dining package voucher. He told us to get there 45 minutes early (instead of the usual 30 minutes for the package) because they were going to open up the dining package seating to regular guests about 30 minutes before the show.

After lunch, we decided to check out the line for star tours. The little electronic sign said it was a 60 minute wait, but I didn't trust it. I asked a CM if the sign was a pretty good estimate and he said yes. I also asked him if the line was predicted to die down any time soon. We started chatting about how many star wars fans there were and how the crowds were pretty big. I love interacting with the CMs, so we spent some time just talking to him. At one point during our conversation, he realized that we were celebrating our honeymoon. He got excited and told us to look the other way. I did, and I felt his hand shove two rider switch passes into mine! We thanked him discreetly and walked off. Josh and I walked out of the Star Wars section for a moment (we were so excited we could barely contain ourselves). Once we had regained our composure, we went through the FP line using one of the rider switch passes.

We both loved the ride. I really enjoyed the "pre-flight" video when the flight attendant robot wags her finger and says "Smoking and photography are never allowed on any star tours flight". I thought this was particularly funny because it was just like the part in the Delta safety video when the flight attendant says that smoking is "never allowed on any Delta flight" (it was in the same tone and everything) :lmao:

After that we went to see the Muppet show, and then we went shopping. Josh and I bought a "Just married" Christmas Ornament.

Then we grabbed RR FPs and went to see the Beauty and the Beast show. It was waaaay to hot to sit through that whole thing, but we did it anyway. Here are a few pictures of the show.

Belle looks like she is going to be sick

After that we went into the Magic of Disney Animation. We didn't do the drawing class, though. I really wanted to this time but Josh and I decided that we would probably both get too frustrated.

We then decided to grab some dinner before we went to fantasmic. I wanted to try the hot dogs in pretzel rolls, so we headed to the Dockside Diner. Here is a picture of the hot dog.

053.jpg

I got a lemonade slushie for dessert and Josh got a chocolate shake.

They were not very good. They had waaaay too much mustard in them. It was like a jelly-filled doughnut with mustard instead of jelly and pretzel instead of doughnut. Ewww. After that we headed to fantasmic. Here are the pictures we took.

After Fantasmic we went on RR, then headed back to Star Tours to use our last rider switch pass. I enjoyed the ride a lot more the second time. It was completely different! I seriously recommend going on this ride more than once.

I think that we went back to the hotel soon after going on RR, but I can't really remember the details from that night. Next time we will take more pictures :lmao:

:rotfl: when I first saw the pic I thought " was he eating chocolate recently?". I guess he was

And Belle looks like the same one we saw in September :goodvibes

That was very nice of that CM to spread some pixie dust your way. :goodvibes:

What a nice gesture by the CM at the Studios. :goodvibes

Sorry you had to deal with an irate tourist checking into MM. What did she expect if she was not paying attention...you aren't a mind reader. Really some people just frost my you know what.

That hot dog in pretzel doesn't even look appetizing. And, you are right, Belle does look ill.

I know! He was so nice. I love when CMs take that extra time to do something special :goodvibes

He was such a nice CM. Not only did he give us rider switch passes, he also spent like 10 minutes just talking to us about stuff. He was just so friendly! I really appreciated this because I knew that he had been there since early that morning. He was super nice even though he had probably had to deal with some not-so-nice people.

I understand her frustration. I don't like it when people cut in front of me, either (even if I wasn't paying attention). I just wish she wasn't so angry. She could have said "Oh, I thought I was next" and then I would have apologized and everything would have ended well (without making either of us look like jerks). She didn't have to yell at me.

That hot dog itself wasn't very good, but the pretzel part was yummy. If it hadn't been filled with mustard, it would have been pretty good.

Great update! Sorry for the mess at MM's! All I can think about right now is that chocolate Mickey bar.... OH I LOVE THEM. :lovestruc

Yeah. Josh loves them, too. He always got the chocolate all over his face like a cute little kid :lmao:! I am not a big fan of them because I am not really a huge fan of chocolate, but they are pretty yummy.

Great news about Zoe coming home today. :thumbsup2

I know! I am so excited! They are on their way home as we speak (or type, whatever ). She has been discharged and they are in route to their home. Yay!

UPDATE: I said in my last update that Josh and I both got lemonade slushies for dessert. I looked at the picture again and realized that he had a chocolate milkshake, not a lemonade slushie. Oops :lmao:. That is fixed.

I also added a few pictures to the "wedding day" chapter (it is on the very first page of the TR) :goodvibes

Lots of great pictures! Too bad about the empty hall at the end, but everything else looked great!
