Is This a New Trick for Airtran?

We have used Airtran for our annual WDW trip the last four years. The flights for this year's trip (Dec 1 - Dec 9) have recently become available online. But instead of listing them at standard coach price ($99 each way), they are listed at maximum coach price ($289 each way)! I don't recall them doing this in the past.

They are doing this for a number of dates in November and December. I am not concerned in the least as I know there are very few seats sold on these flights at this time, but I'm just wondering what game they are playing. Will people actually pay these prices for flights that are still empty? Maybe they're trying to find out! :rotfl:

This has happened in the past, when they release a block of dates...the last month or so is very high.

When I called last time, I was told they just want to get the schedule up (yeah, right - like AT doesn't change their schedules :rotfl2: ) and that the prices would be adjusted shortly.

Hope this round follows suit - and they're not "challenging the market". I need early Dec. The fares jump substantially in early November.

My problem is that I have a few rewards credits to use; but still have to pay for some of my party; hate to book them and pay that inflated price jik the price doesn't drop.:sad2: Even worse to wait & not be able to use them @ all.

Guess we just have to keep checking for a price drop....post it here folks.:thumbsup2

I know it happened when they opened the flights for this coming May. I can't remember what the price was initially, but I remember thinking...What the heck! I thought they always had prices around $89 one way. Well, I waited a month and they went down right where I thought they would be.

I sure hope they come down. Right now I'm looking at $315 one way!! At that price, I can leave early, save $ and stay an extra day or two.

I noticed this too. We are going the same time as last year (tday). It came out as 89 last year but this year it's 319. I checked the prices on travelocity and expedia and the lower price of 203 was listed, went and checked Airtrans web page and its 660 round trip. Not sure who would pay that. :confused3 If that was the case we would drive.:scared:
