Is this a good price for flights???

Thank you for your replies. :goodvibes I have checked the airlines' websites but no better. :( We are flying Melbourne, Seattle or Vancouver, New York, Boston, Tampa, Lax, Melbourne. Maybe a great deal will pop up at the Travel Expo in Feb! :thumbsup2

I think the expense will be due to the fact that this is essentially a chain of flights with no one return destination. Like 'Round the World' flights, it would be rare to find a good deal on flights like this.

Have you tried pricing up return Melbourne/LAX flights and paying for all the domestic flights separately?

We always book our flights through Expedia. I am a mega 'bargain shopper' for everything including flights....... Basically, as soon as our dates are available, I am online everyday checking and usually save us at least $1000 compared to a TA.:cool1:

Our next trip is to Orlando in Dec/Jan and I'm hoping to get 2A/2C for about $7000 return.....fingers crossed lol

I found a cheap price on byojet, through kayak.
Part of the American Express travel scene group, I then took that to STA and they beat it again.
I went online when I got home and was able to pre book seats on the qantas flights using my booking number,
It was a relative complicated itinerary, Syd -lax, Vegas-Mexico City, cancun-Miami,Orlando-NYC, NYC-LAX-SYD

Oh wow so many great tips - hmm don't think i'll ever trust a travel agent again haha. I'm now off to see if I can better the price she gave me for the 5 day Park Hoppers... $1500 for 2A/2C... And the airport transfers, hotels - yep everything I guess!!!

Hmmm. I'd be doing more than questioning her. You can get the 5 day park hoppers for 2 adults and 2 kids for $1158 USD (approx AUD $1295) on the Disney website.

You should really also look at the hotels directly on the hotel website. I got a friend who is a travel agent to cost up everything for my last US holiday. She could not beat one thing we wanted to book. Some things were ridiculously higher cost through her (and she would have tried to give us a good deal).

Whatever you do, get travel insurance online. The cost difference is amazing!

If you haven't heard of them or come across them, I would try looking at Undercover Tourist. They sell WDW tickets at a discount rate and will ship to Australia. A number of us on the Anzac section of the Disboards have used them before.

The only caveat is that I last bought from them in April last year; before the yearly price rise and before Magic Bands were released. I could link the paper tickets to the MB on My Disney Experience without any issue. Just check the UT website to see what is happening with MB and tix.

Aarghh yes I have made a BIG mistake paying for travel insurance today through Flight Centre before I checked online - have just had a look & have paid about $200 more than if I had gone online :( Had a bit of a panic at the Travel Agents & thought I'd better take it out at the same time I paid for my flights. Feeling pretty bummed now, nothing I can do about it I guess - sure have learnt my lesson :( Will def mention to the Travel Agent when I speak to her next how ripped off I feel. I think now I have all my dates & flight details now i'll book everything else myself.

PIO, I could be wrong, but with 5 day hoppers I'm guessing she's talking about Disneyland.

There are some brokers who deal wit DL tickets and Vacationeer Travels is one I've heard good things about. At present they have 5 day hoppers for the price of 4. I would buy the tickets myself, but I need to save up some more money.

I heard about them from the following blog I follow. (In the past the DIS has blocked this blog, so apologies if that happens again)

Wow guys thanks again for the info :)

Had a quick look at Undercover Tourist but yep that's Disneyworld only as far as I could see. Thankyou anyway - much appreciated :) Vacationeer Travels can do the 2A/2C 5 Day park hopper for AUS $1221... good price (I think!!!) Hmmm wondering if I should jump on it now or is it to early for a Sept trip... Feeling a bit burnt after the Travel Insurance "jump in & buy it in a panic" situation ;)

I plan on trying to buy my tickets within the next two months or so. I'm just trying to finalise my itinerary so I can decide whether I want the 5 day hopper or the 10 day pass. Disney could increase their ticket prices at any time (although historically it's been around the middle of the year). I'm definitely no expert, but I feel like if I buy before April I'll have a pretty good chance of beating the price hike.

OOH! See what happens when I stay up late?

Thanks.

Sorry.

I've used Cleaver Brothers for Disneyland. You could google them and see what their DisneyLAND ticket prices are doing. They don't ship to Australia; but they have premises on Harbour Blvd.

But Wanderlust's recommendation is probably just as good.

No need to apologise; you were trying to help. :goodvibes
I should preface by saying that I've never used Vacationeer Travels personally. I have just read good things about them and are considering buying tickets from them for my upcoming trip.

Looks like you are in luck:goodvibes
There is a mandatory 15 day cooling off period.
I have to say this is why I don't like flight centre, everything is overpriced unless you go in having done your research when they will then match your price, I don't think this is great customer service, best advice find a good travel agent, they work for you finding the best price, not selling you what they get the most commission on

From the flight centre website
If for some reason you change your mind about your insurance purchase, Cover-More policies give you peace of mind by offering a 15-business day 'cooling off period'. During this time you can obtain a full refund (provided that you haven't made a claim and your departure date has not passed). If you need to cancel your policy, please phone 133 133.

I would even suggest not getting a travel agent at all and just using all of us for your travel needs:cool1:

I was a travel agent many years ago, so I know how they work.

I have always booked everything online myself, and have felt a lot more in control of my bookings. No need to worry if the agent has booked the wrong dates, wrong room type etc. there's also so many more hotels out there that travel agents don't/can't offer.

And those Disneyland tickets look like a great price. It's certainly not too early to buy them now.

Oh you are a GEM - thankyou so much, you have totally made my day!! I was far to busy being angry at myself to think of doing something intelligent like looking for a cooling off period :) Right - back to being excited:yay:

Yes you guys are my new Travel Agents for sure haha. Just from the fare & travel insurance tips I have saved $800 - wow, can't wait to see how much after the Park Hoppers, Hotels etc. Once again thankyou everyone.

TAs can make 50% commission on travel insurance.

Maybe you have a cooling off period and can cancel or negotiate with them for a lower price. Worth a try. :thumbsup2
