We can book our room through Expedia for $348.46 a night (including taxes)
Then just order our 4 day hopper passes from Disney.com. It's a savings of $353 over booking from Getawaytoday.com and it's even more at Disney.com

Just wondered if it really does matter to book everything together as a "package" or book them separate?

We decided to "splurge" this year since our kids are old enough to appreciate that this will be a big part of their Christmas presents this year. :santa:

Three quick questions:
1) how often do you go to DLR? This is your only trip or do you come more often?
2) do you live in SoCalifornia? (This is an AP-related question.)
3) what are you dates to go? (This is asked to check which rate/season.)

1. We go once a year.
2. We live in Southern Utah
3. We are going Dec 18-22nd (4 nights)

I am not sure about the GCH price but if you are comfortable with it, then go for it. You can also buy your parkhoppers on Expedia at the same time. I did that and they were the same price as the Disney website.
Also usually with Expedia you can cancel and get a full refund on the hotel portion so if prices go down before your trip, refund the first purchase and book at the lower rate. I had originally booked the DLH at $290 per night and then kept watching because I really did not want to pay that but wanted to stay at DLH. One day I saw the price had dropped to $163 per night and I booked it and phoned and cancelled the original booking and got a full refund.
As far as booking a package, I would not recommend the Disney website (just my opinion though!). When I was first researching prices, I tried the Disney website for Hotel only, Tickets only and then a package of both. The package was about $150 more than booking them separately on that site. I emailed them to ask what the additional $150 was for and I did not get a response. Although I think if you book through the Disney website you get disney lanyards but those are pretty expensive lanyards!

Then that's a great rate for high season! Even the AP rate would be $355 including taxes for those nights.

If you went the week prior then your AP rate would be about $275 including taxes (of course one of you would have to purchase a Deluxe AP too).

If I put in your dates to Expedia.ca, DLH shows up at $221. That's Canadian dollars so it would be a bit cheaper for you.

Thank you...I tried it and got $283.48 (taxes included) a night.
It would be $1003.36 for 4 nights.

So, can the expedia rates change daily? I'm guessing they can. :confused3
But as we get closer to the Christmas season I can't imagine they will go lower.

Agreed..I have always found booking seperately cheaper. Do you have AAA? You could try calling the hotel directly, that's what I've done and it helps..that way you can use the AAA discount, but don't know if it will beat your price. That's a fair rate if all your extras are included (example.. May 09 my weeknight night was 324. PLUS 11.50 resort fee ((I think that is like 13 now?)) PLUS 48.60 tax, weekend rate higher...so glad I bought VGC :) )
