I know if you stay at the resort you can park for free at the parks. Do they have a special area that you can park at? Or do you just get what you get? I am hoping we don't end up so far away that we need to wait for a tram, etc., and spend so much time getting out of the park that it won't be worth it to rent a car.:confused3

You get what you get. We consider the tram as part of the adventure getting to the park. We don't find driving bad at all to the parks.

If you want to park up close get to the parking lot before the park opens. We once arrived at the Epcot lot about 20 minutes before opening and got a spot in the third or fourth row. It was an easy walk.

all AAA have preferred parking at WDW theme parks.

It is next to the handicapped.

with some AAA you need to buy a package from them.

with others you only need to buy some WDW tickets.

with others it is free you only need to ask for it.

if you are a member of AAA call and ask them what they require you to buy to get the special parking permit.

Ohh, I didn't know about AAA parking. My MIL booked AAA room only rates. We'll have to ask about parking!

You get the best parking space they have. Just ride the buses from your resort to the front gate at all the parks. You can't park any closer than that. Unless I missed something about you not wanting to ride the buses.

With AAA in Florida you have to have booked a package to get the Diamond Parking. Even when we went in September & then in December we didn't have to park that far out at any of the parks. In fact people were walking at the MK instead of waiting for the tram, but like another poster said the Tram is part of the adventure at WDW.

We book through AAA and get the preferred parking pass, they are all withing very close walking distance to the park entrances and we've had no reason to use the tram.
