Is there something wrong with me?

I leave on May 15th for my first solo trip to WDW and I can't wait. Mind you I'll only be solo until the evening of the 18th when the first of my travel companions for the bachelorette party part of the trip joins me. But people I've told seem to think it's the strangest thing ever that I'm going solo and that I'll be lonely or bored. I can't help but look at them like they are crazy, I solo travel all the time for work and I don't get bored or lonely, so how could I at the most magical place on earth? Would it have been great to have DH with me for the first few days? Sure, but his job is still fairly new and he doesn't have the leave. So off I go to celebrate the completion of my Masters degree. So is there something wrong with me for looking so forward to a solo trip?

Nothing wrong at all. Sometimes circumstances dictate things we may prefer another way, but that's just life. My sister is single, has a very successful business and can take trips how and when she likes. It doesn't bother her a bit to take off to WDW alone for 4 or 5 days, if that's the way it has to be. Sure she likes to go with friends/family but most of us don't have the flexibility she has.

First let me say congrats on finishing your Masters!! I know how awesome it feels when you turn in that last paper/project.
Second, you are so normal for wanting to go to WDW solo. you can do everything and anything you want to or not. there are a bunch of us on the board that love to do the solo thing, so you're in good company.
Forget those that don't get it...they're just jealous because you thought of doing it before they did!

You think people don't understand you going solo, try being a 25-year-old guy and saying he's going solo! First "they" don't understand why I love WDW so much being a guy. But then I tell them I'm going solo and they think I'll be bored?!? I tell them to name one, just one, place that would be better than WDW to be stuck alone for several days and they can't.

I get a lot of the same strange looks when I say I'm going. And I sometimes get "oh yeah, you're that Disney guy" as if its a bad thing!

I just sluff it off, because I know I'm gonna have a good time.

I think most people just aren't comfortable and/or confident enough with themselves to entertain the thought of a solo trip.

I get the same negative reactions. I just tell people that I'm not willing to sit around waiting for a travel companion to appear when I want to and could go and have a good time by myself. I'll just take another trip when I have someone to go with.

I have done Disney solo than any other way. I love it. Who cares what people think. Imagine the looks I get when I tell people that I am leaving the country by myself.

Willing to travel solo shows that you are comfortable with yourself and your own company.

Congratulations on finishing your Masters! I LOVE Disney solo. There is way too much to do to ever be bored. I'll be there solo on the 17th-19th of May until my friend flies in on the 19th. I'm looking forward to my solo time the most, though. It's nice to be able to do whatever you want to do, whenever you want to do it & not worry if someone else is entertained. I must be spoiled- I like the idea od doing exactly what I want ,when I want without anyones input. I thinb kit sounds great!

At some point in the future I plan on doing a solo, perhaps in December since I love all the decor and festivities. No one complaining about how long I take to shop , sounds like heaven to me!

I am outwardly jealous! As much as I love taking my kids, I'd love to go for a few days on my own...nobody fighting, complaining, refusing to get out of bed, messing up the bathroom....Gosh, it sounds like HEAVEN!

Nothing wrong with you at all. I take a solo trip to WDW about 2-3 times a year and, of course, everyone I know thinks I'm totally nutso. Oh well, their loss!

I love the freedom of doing what I want, when I want it. Of course, it's also fun to go with friends or family. Going solo vs. going with others are very different experiences -- I can't say one is better than the other.

Don't worry about being solo. I doubt anyone will even notice since most people are so absorbed in their own activities.

Congrats!!! I'd go solo or with a party doesn't matter as I'll be at WDW. One of my happiest places, how could you possibly get bored there?!! Anyone saying that just doesn't really get Disney. I've never done a solo trip and I usually wouldn't but Disneyworld, oh yeah baby here I come! Have fun and happy travels!
