Is there something going on in Orlando the weekend of 9/30/16?

I was so excited for JetBlue to post their new flights this weekend, but I am not excited about the prices. Our departure day is 9/30 which is a Friday and for some reason, the one-way on Friday is twice what it is on Saturday 10/1. I know this is normal for a long weekend, but this is not a holiday weekend and the two previous Fridays don't have this rate. Does anyone know of anything happening that particular weekend?

Orlando is a major city so there could be many things happening (in addition to tourism) that may not be advertised to the public, many people travel to Orlando for conferences, business, events, etc.. Just keep in mind that the fares could change at any moment so keep monitoring on a regular basis, you are still very far out so the prices may very well drop in the coming months..

Food N Wine. Columbus Day is Oct 10 so people could leave on Oct 1 for a week long vacation return home on Suand and get that added bonus that they will be off on Monday for the holiday. Its a popular time to go do Disney because crowds are low.

Thanks all--I had figured on these "normal" things but we've gone this time of year before and and opening price of $215 one way from DC to MCO on Friday seemed excessive given that Saturday is $112. It's still early so I'll just wait to see if they do a fare sale or bring the price down.

Thanks for all your thoughts!
