Is there rhyme or reason to refurbs?

More specifically, do rides tend to be closed for refurb at the same time every year? For example, does ToT close every Sept for a scheduled "tune up" or does it vary as needed? We are going in off season, as we have done the past 2 times, but for some reason I remember hearing/reading that there are alot of headliner ride closures in Sept....

Anyone know? And how soon can we get word either officially or unofficially from WDW?

I think more rides tend to go down for scheduled refurbs during the slow months. I expect when I go in Dec that quite a bit will be down.

However, unscheduled refurbs can always come up. A refurb for TT in Epcot was scheduled 2 days before I left , luckily we made it to Epcot before the day it closed.

We have been twice in Sept and twice the beginning of Oct and not seen many attractions closed to refurbishment.

I've gone the beginning of December the past 6 years and don't recall many attractions closed, none on a consistent basis.

Usually not that far in advance. The forthcoming Dinosaur rehab has one of the longest advance notices I've seen. It became official about 1-2 weeks ago, but the actual rehab doesn't begin until mid-April.

Usually you're lucky if you get more than a couple weeks' notice through official channels.

Too bad there isn't a good site for tracking historical rehabs. Here are some recent ones that I recall:
