:)

if you keep falling off of the planet there might not be life after 40...LOL

I'll be 41 in July. I'm having a great time! I guess it's all in your outlook. One of the first things I thought when I hit 30 was that suddenly 40 didn't seem that old :teeth:

40 was hard for me because that was the year I lost my Mom. However in the 7 years since life has been very good. DH and I are closer than ever, we have a comfortable life in a house that is paid for. We own DVC and travel to Disney at least once a year and have take 5 cruises with a 6th planned for the end of the year.

Life is good!

Celebrate each day!

Well your metabolism sucks, getting grey hair sucks, always being tired sucks -- hey it sucks! No it's not that bad, all a state of mind. I work with 13 year olds all day so they really keep me young and hip and on my toes.

Happy Birthday. I made DH take me to Disney World for my 40th. It was the best birthday I ever had. He has to do it for my 50th too, in 8 years.

Another person turning 40 this year here. I'm turning the big 4-0 in April. Not real happy about it, but happier to be turning 40 than turning nothing at all.

I'll be 45 this June, and guess what? 40's are fabulous:D I'm a respected member of my community, an active volunteer ( woohoo- I have time to volunteer, plus my kids are old enough that I don't need to worry about getting a babysitter:Pinkbounc ). Speaking of kids, now that mine are headed towards adulthood, I can have adult conversation with them- how cool is that! I learned how to salsa dance when I turned 40, and now it's one of my favorite past times. I can't wait for 50- i have a girls only trip planned with my friends from high school:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

ROFLMAO!!! I'm finding things are MUCH better in my 40s!!! Woooooooooooo hoooooooooooooo! Why wasn't I like this in my 20s and 30s? ;)

I sure hope there is life after 40. My bd is coming in less than two weeks. So, I'll find out the day after if there is life after 40. ;)

So far so good. I turned 40 last week and no disasters as of yet. But I am not holding my breath.

I know there is after 40, even 50. I am just wondering about after 60. I should find out in a few months.

I felt the same way when I was staring at 40. But then I thought about how it didn't matter if I liked it or not, it was going to happen. With that in mind, I decided to make the best of it and it's really not bad being in my 40's.

Hey, Serena!! Our birthdays are on the same day!! :teeth: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

There sure is life after 40 and beyond.

40 is just another number.

A good deal of your happiness depends on your outlook to life. If you are optimistic and and don't let the silly number bother you, you should be fine.

Thanks for all your wonderful replies.........

GOOFY4TINK - as a divorced single mom, maybe I, too, will get lucky and marry a man 8 years younger!

CYRANOJONES - I LOVE that episode about the Tribbles and remember begging my parents for one to keep as a pet

TENNVOLTONY - and thanks to your input, I'm now more frightened about turning 45!

ROCK'NROBIN - I too get depressed New Year's Eve so you're definitely not alone

WDWLVR and FANTASIA - I'm so sorry to read about the deaths of your loved ones, you will be in my thoughts and prayers

Thanks again to everyone who responded and definitely helped me feel better about turning the big 4-0!

I woke up this morning, and much to my surprise and delight, found out I got tagged for the very first time!

I am so thrilled and it couldn't have come at a better time!!!!

I'm going to have to eat some chocolate to celebrate!:teeth:

Thank you, thank you Tag Fairy......you really are special!!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

caburysmom, - Congrats on your tag - Great timing TF!::yes::
I'm 41, and I have to say that this is a great age! I feel more comfortable in my skin than I did at 20 or 30. Seems like the people who are afraid life is over when they turn 40 haven't been there yet. Enjoy!

I love this -- "I can get older but who says I have to grow up.."

I'm adopting that as my motto!

I turn 45 in May, and I've having a blast. The numbers don't mean anything -- it's your attitude and what you do with your life that is important.

So, I propose you have a huge blowout party on your birthday! Better yet -- go to Disney World! :bounce:

I also married a man 8 years younger than me & I think he keeps me young!! Not to mention having a baby at age 42, (sometimes) makes me feel 10 years younger! Okay, baby was BIG surprise, but I'm hanging out with people that have kids my age & they're 10 years younger than me, so I just feel younger in that aspect of it!

So....if you're not married, go get yourself a young guy & start having babies & you'll be so busy, you won't even remember your age anymore!! :teeth:

What was the question?

Would not change one darn thing ... love being 42 as feel that it takes that long to really understand and appreciate a lot of aspect of life. :)

Feel healthier, happier, and more excited about life than at any other point in my lifetime.

Enjoy those 40's, my friend!!! :)

I'm having a great time in my 40s. And close friends are having great times in their 50s and 60s. So much of it is having a positive attitude and enjoying the time we have.

Plus, whenever I do get at all depressed about my age I go visit my parents at their assisted-living facility where the average age is 78 and they all call me "kid." They think 40 is practically still a toddler, so it's all relative.
