Is there even a chance?

i was aware, I should've put 2 and 2 together to realize that around 10,000 more tons wouldn't allow for that much length. My bad.
The article stated they would be slightly bigger then the Fantasy and Dream. That should be large enough to add the things you mentioned. Aren't the Fantasy and Dream about the same size as the Getaway and Vista.

I didn't say activities weren't there, I said there are too many screens. Every single space has screens. Many screens. I'd like to see more balance between areas with and without all the tech. For instance, why does Andy's Room need the huge TV? Couldn't it just be the play structures? Or the Frozen section on the Wonder. I think Oaken peeking his head out of the steam room is cute, but why not leave the rest of the space as the market instead of having all the video games too? Just my opinion.

Despite being a science and tech person myself in my job, we choose to send our daughter to a school that limits tech on campus and in the classroom because we think it's important for the under 12 set to experience and explore through hands on and active learning rather than so much screen time. It's just my opinion based on my own research about brain development for that particular age group.

Mate, you're preaching to the converted!
I never said I agree or disagree with there being screens.
Try working it. Try putting time and effort into an activity, to have maybe 5 kids want to play because the rest act like they've never seen an iPad before. Try getting kids to go and do something with their lives but getting looks like you've got three heads when you suggest they go and spend 30 minutes playing flubber or capture the flag or a treasure hunt. Haha!

The kids in the Edge do that stuff. My son loves making Flubber, but never did it in the lab. I think young kids get overstimulated there's so much going on and so many kids running around. I can see where it would be really difficult.

The majority of activities in edge and vibe also happen in the lab.
But in edge it's just a completely different atmosphere to begin with, (on the classics) there's 4 Edge Counselors compared to almost 20 in the lab. You get to know the edge (and vibe) kids completely differently and quickly. You build up a rapport and have great banter with them. In return they have a different respect for you then club/labbies, which means when you tell/ask them to do an activity they usually do it, even if they think they don't want to do it, they do it for you.
They also have freedom, so if they don't want to be there or really don't want to do something, they just walk out. Most Club/lab kids can't and this is often expressed through 'sulking' on screens or running around sometimes annoying others, trying to get a reaction.

I loved working in Edge because of the relationship you got with the kids.

You guys do a great job. It's the one thing that keeps me loyal to DCL. My son loves the Edge and I'm sure he'll love the Vibe. He loves the organized activities. We haven't found anything comparable on another cruiseline. I think Carnival came the closest. I still would like to see a ropes course and few more outdoor venues. I think that would just add to the fun.

But aren't those mega ships? These new ones are going to be in between the size of the Classics and the bigger ships not way larger. I don't see them having room for all that.
Nope. Fantasy is 129,000+ tons, Vista is 133,500+ tons, Norwegian Breakaway is 146,000+ tons, Freedom of the Seas is 155,000+ tons but is only 50 feet longer than Vista and 38 feet longer than Fantasy. The 3 new Disney ships are 135,000+ tons, so slightly larger than Dream class, not in between the 2 current class Disney ships.

We hope they do not add those type of activities. We enjoy the ships pretty much the way they are.
I get why people feel that way, but from a business perspective it would be foolish of DCL to not add things to the new ships that separate them from previous classes. For people who want new/different experiences the new ships will fill that void, if you want the same experience as before you can still cruise on previous classes or choose not to participate on the new things on the new ships.

Yes I realized about the size and corrected in another post. Still don't think it's going to happen.

True, technology can only go so far. Im not saying they should "copy" other cruise lines. To me adding better waterslides, rope courses, etc is not copying. Adding a boardwalk and central park is. I don't think they will loose there ten market just due to them not being able to be the decided on travel plans. But when they get older, especially me I want to take vacation by cruise. To me it just seems easier. They will defiantly loose teens interest though.

I respectfully disagree. There are so many differences with gaga ball, making cupcakes, making pizza, and dodgeball. Edge tends to have a big drop-off from the lab. And truthfully any activities the lab has thats not related to anything science, they don't do. Its hard to round up that many kids to do organized things at that age.

sorry for not putting all replies into one response, ill work on that. I didn't know that was possible.

And I'll have to respectfully disagree too (as a CM that worked in club, lab, edge and vibe in the space of 2 contracts)...while they may be adapted in the different spaces, there are a number of programmes that happen between the spaces that follow the same guidelines, including: gaga ball, 4 square, cupcakes, cookies, 4th pigs pasta, scavenger hunts, bingo, just dance, game challenges, magic shows, flubber, volcanoes, piston cup, marshmallow olympics, picture this, animation cells, animation antics (just to name a few that all happen in the lab and Edge and Vibe - like I said slightly adapted to age groups but all done by the same people following the same FG).....

Vista in 47 feet longer and 8,000 tons bigger

Getaway is pretty much the same but 20,000 town bigger

I think its doable.
Fantasy, Dream, Getaway and Breeze all seemed pretty huge. I couldn't really tell the difference when I was on them. You definitely notice how much smaller the Magic and Wonder are. On DCL I actually prefer the classics over the Dream class. I don't think the Dream class ships offer anything exceptional except more crowds.

Crowd control is not good on DCL ships. If there is one thing I hope they fix it's that. They need more outside seating, more adult venues with ocean views. I hate sitting in bar enjoying a martini and not being able to see the ocean. The classics have the promenade lounge which is one of my favorite areas on a DCL ship. At least there are windows. On the Dream class sitting in the adult bars is like being in a cave. They're beautiful especially the bathrooms, but I like to see the ocean.

If you look at the difference between the first two DCL ships and the last two, in my mind, I see more mind-challenging activities added for guests than physical. If you want lots of physical activities aboard ship then perhaps other cruise lines are for you. Personally, I am more impressed with DCL imagineering with virtual portholes, detective agency challenges with activated pictures, MDR shows, etc. than adding a climbing wall. The kids' activity clubs/labs include physical and mental, as well as personal enrichment challenges, so that they have fun and learn from a variety of experiences. I can't wait to see how the three new ships will be equipped. Perhaps they will have an added surf simulator or new physical activity on deck. I bet they put the bulk of their creativity into electronics and mind-blowing new technology. After all, you can get plenty of physical activities during certain port excursions...hikes, zip-lining, rock climbing, etc. We recently finished a week on a DCL Alaska cruise...lots of physical options at every port.
I agree completely, plus there are a lot of other cruise lines that have the more active stuff, although there will probably be one or two active elements added since the ships will be a little bit larger, but the bulk will definitely be in adding things that everyone is capable of doing, no matter their abilities because that is what Disney does best.

Let's face it, not everyone is physically capable of using a wave pool, rock climbing wall, ropes, etc. But every can enjoy the midship detective agency (although I wish they would have brought that to the Magic and Wonder).

So I would look for more things like that to be added to the new ships.

With the newer projection mapping technologies that have been developed for the parks and maybe even further improvements, they might even find a way to bring the interactive portions of virtual portholes to real portholes and verandah doors, especially in the evening, but I think it might even be possible during the day as well.

They may also bring in virtual balconies like some other cruise lines are starting to do.

I expect that there will be three absolutely incredible ships that will be clear they are sister ships, but also each will have their own features that will make them unique, but I don't see Disney adding a ton of super active stuff that not everyone can enjoy. Yes, there will likely be some, but not a lot.

The average age on Disney ship is pretty young compared to other cruiselines. I think the majority of the people on the ship( young families) could participate in those activities. They can have activities that everyone can do like midship detective and activities for the more active crowd. I saw plenty of 60+ people doing the ropes course on NCL and Carnival. I know the 1000+ kids on a DCL ship would make good use a wave pool. I agree with you though I don't think DCL will add either of these. I think they will come up with something new that we haven't seen before.

Dream and Fantasy have Remy... (ok that's all I got)

On the Dream, I think I remember the Meridian bar (between Remy and Palo) having windows and outdoor seats.
