Is there even a chance?

I really think they need to mix it up. I have older teens who still cruise DCL primarily for the nostalgia, and they enjoy the main show, the movies, the dining. But the ports are getting old and the activities on other lines look so much more fun. My niece and nephew are the same age (all the kids are 15-20) and they are insisting the next trip be NCL because the activities look so fun. I don't blame them.

Disney's current ships are great, but they have a huge opportunity to improve the older teen experience and at least one of the new ships could do that!

I don't think adding a rock climbing wall and a couple of slides would qualify as a floating theme park. They already have aquadunk and aquaduct. A Disney cruise could never compete with the parks. I personally would not want it to but there are things lacking on the Disney ships - some as small as additional pools or a dinner buffet!

Sorry, some people in this thread were calling for a theme park on board. That's what I meant. Not a rock climbing wall.

Is there a chance the new ships could have a good deal of stuff the other ships don't have? Could they have Ropes course, thrilling waterslides, and just other stuff like that. I love cruising but id say when I turn 21 id leave Disney just because Im an active person and just prefer things like this.Im 14 so I obviously can't make the travel plans. I hope I don't sound like Im complaining and saying Disney cruises are boring but I wish they would add a few things in the ball park. Thanks!

I hope so. DCL has a lot of catching up to do.

I didn't see any post suggesting they turn the ship into a theme park. Isn"t DCL the only cruiseline with a water COASTER on the ship .. or did I just imagine that.

The NCL Escape has something similar that uses tubes.

Post #74 - darnheather thought I was suggesting that. Further back there were some suggestions about other things to add or what is already on other ships (not DCL).

I cant think of any ship out there that is anything close to a theme park. Dcll has the coaster, carnival has a sky ride and rccl has bumper cars. Those are the only rides I can think of. I don't consider slides and rope courses things you would find at a theme park.

Oh ok, I might be but my parents aren't. They aren't even considering it.
Maybe if prices keep going up they'll consider it. Have you been to Europe? Ask them for a cruise in Europe that might change their minds when they compare prices. My older son is a year older then you. He doesn't really care which ship or cruiseline. It's more about the destination with him. My youngest is 2 years younger then you and he really loves DCL and the Edge. As much he as loves DCL he loves cruising more. He won't turn down a cruise on Carnival. NCL he's didn't like the kids club. Carnival has the good food and that's a big plus for a teenage boy

I would suggest to present them comparison tables, pictures and prices... Some people just need a little more convincing when it comes to trying something new.

We plan to start planning a Mediterranean cruise soon. I'll compare prices then.
