...on Grand Cayman if you don't take one of the excursions? We're not really interested in swimming, snorkeling, or beaches.

Any shopping areas within walking distance of the ship?

Isn't there shopping at all of the stops Disney makes. It seems to be a major thing people do - but I just don't get it. We are in some of the most beautiful and warm water in the world, lovely beaches - and most people want to go shopping - I can do that at home!!

Sure there's shopping. I'll bet that there are plenty of things to do in the spa that day too.

I believe why people shop on the islands is that they are duty free and you can find great bargains on different items. Things we can't find at home. The tender lets you off into the downtown area where there are shops and restaurants. If you want to see the Turtle Farm, Botanical Gardens, Hell, 7-mile beach they have taxi's right there. We did an overall tour of the island with a visit to view the stingrays from a semi-submersed submarine. The DCL excursion was the Land and Sea Island Tour. It was 3 1/2 hrs and there was plenty of time for shopping in Georgetown, afterwards since we started like 7:30AM.

What people do on vacation is a personal thing. Some people like to do absolutely nothing, others cram everything into their days, while others do something inbetween. We, like to see the sights and get a Christmas ornament for our tree in the different ports. And small gifts for our parents and housesitter.

I didn't want to make it seem like we don't LIKE swimming, snorkeling or beaches, but we're already doing that in Cozumel and Castaway Cay. Plus, we live in Florida, not far from beaches and warm water. I can do THAT at home, too!

So, in Grand Cayman, we'd like to do something different than the other days.

Thanks, Tina, for the info on where the ship docks. We'll probably walk into downtown and check it out!

Hi again FOJMO. Perhaps horseback riding along a secluded beach sounds appealing. We used Nikki's and had a terrific time. Others have posted rave reviews about Honeysuckle Tours...

jrabbit: some people like the beaches, some people like shopping. As for me, I live in Michigan and with the Great Lakes surrounding us we can go to the beach anytime. But I cannot buy things here that I can buy on the islands, so for me, shopping is a priority when we cruise. :)
