Is there anyone who doesn't like BCV?

I just bought a resale OKW contract and already my mind is pondering adding some more points...haven't told dh this yet!

Anyhow, I read so much good about BCV, but I wondered if anyone doesn't like it there and why? I think I am tied between points at BCV and BWV...for different reasons. We were just at WDW 2 weeks ago and had dinner at Cape May Cafe. I loved the resort, we walked around for a while. DH thought it looked "Mary Poppins -y " (whatever that means!). I am from New England originally and grew up at our beach house in Cape Cod, so I kind of like the beach atmosphere.

I would like some candid opinions of why you do or don't like BCV.

Thanks!

Well, I wouldn't say that I don't like BCV, but I do prefer BWV. Now, I have not stayed at BCV so I can't comment on the rooms, but I think they probably compare very closely to BWV, just decorated differently. Our kids are young and I just feel that the pool at BC would be a little more challenging for me to keep a close eye on both of them. At BWV, I am able to watch one go up the slide and come down and watch the other in the pool. When the kids are a little older, we will definetly stay at both BCV and BWV.

So, I don't think this has probably swayed you in either direction. But I think they are both great resorts. The locations are perfect, close to two major parks, wonderful restaurants and great atmospheres.

I am sooooo in the minority. I do not like BWV or BCV :guilty: . I just do not "get it" if that makes sense.

I am an OKW and SSR type of girl. I  the parking in front of the building, the no lobby. I think I really enjoy the non-crowded feeling.

Sorry...I meant non-crowded

This said non-crowed a minute ago...I think I must be going crazy!!

I like BCV very much. I think DVC made some changes for the better at BCV after learning from BWV. The big changes (imo) are more elevators in the building, and a much more user friendly dining table set up. The BCV/YC/BC resort complex has, without a doubt, the most elaborate, fantastic pool on WDW property.
BCV is also the WDW resort located the closest to a WDW park turnstyle. The distance from Epcot's International Gateway turnstyle to BCV's back entrance, is a vacationer's dream!
What I do not like about BCV, is it is quite a distance from the villas to SAB and the restaurants and boat dock. For location to Epcot, you can not beat BCV, but for everything else in the resort complex, you do have a hike. I also do not like that a large number of villas at BCV do not have the greatest of views. Especially the villas that face a very busy and noisey road.
Other than that, I love BCV and it is my 2nd favorite DVC resort. My favorite is BWV because it was built as a main part of the resort (not as an add on), so everything is right there. The majority of BWV's villas have better views than BCV's. And the lower standard pts and the guaranteed boardwalk view villas are a big plus, that no other WDW DVC resort has.
Both are great resorts, you really can not go wrong with either. Just pick whichever one appeals to you the most.

Well, I am probably one of the most "BCV-biased" people on these boards (if not the MOST BCV-biased person...so, you HAVE to take what I say about BCV with a grain of salt), but I LOVE that resort!!! Looking at it on paper, I didn't think I would...but, I do!!!

I think architecturally, it is STUNNING!!! There is something SO relaxing about walking up to that resort. And yet, it is STILL "right in the middle" of the action.

I think it "fancier" than the Grand Floridian, and yet...it still seems somehow relaxed. I love sitting in the solarium and reading...it is just SOO nice.

I love having Beaches 'n Cream (my FAVORITE WDW restaurant) right there. I love having a character b'fast "in house" (and, a really good one at that).

I LOVE SAB (and, I am not even that much of a swimming fan)...it is just SOOO cool!!!

I really like the new gift shop and marketplace (even though I didn't think I would). I think BC has the BEST gift shop of any DVC resort.

I LOVE being so close to Epcot. Seriously, if you go out the "back" way of the villas, you are 2-3 minutes from the IG. And, although some of the rooms don't have the best views....SOME of the rooms overlook the World Showcase (even though you cannot request it anymore).

I love the fact that the villas parking is really close to your room.

It's just hard to explain....everyone has at least one DVC resort that just "does it" for them...for dh and I, it is BC. I wouldn't trade my BCV points for ANY other resort!!!

We DEFINITELY should hang out at BC sometime!!! We can sit around and talk about how "great" it is!!!

The close proximity to Epcot, MGM and miniature golf. As well as SAB and B&C make this one of the best places at WDW! I also love the atmosphere. Annmarie

I wasn't as overwhelmed as some. Like ALL resorts, it has its good points and bad points.

On the good side, we do like the resort design and the location is pretty good. One of our favorite character meals is Cape May. The proximity to the self-parking lot is good for most rooms, and many have a decent view (high level on one side can see Epcot, the other side is the quiet pool.) Oh, and SAB isn't bad either. ;)

On the downside, the location of the villas is poor (right along a main road). One of our favorite parks is MGM, and you'd be hard-pressed to walk there in less than 30 minutes, door-to-door. The resort does have boat service to MGM, but you're talking +/- 10 minutes to walk from your room to the dock plus waiting and travel time. You could get there quicker on a bus from most other resorts. No Grand Villas. Few 2Bs (25?) with two queen beds in the second bedroom. No "Standard View" point schedule like BWV. No rooms with a view of the Boardwalk area. No Community Hall.

There seems to be an inordinately high number of reports of poor service from CMs and/or poor housekeeping. Those types of things will (hopefully) ebb and flow over time, so they should largely be taken with a grain of salt. Although I do think the smaller resorts (BCV, BWV, VWL) will probably have more housekeeping problems in the long run simply because occupancy levels are consistently near 100%. If you gotta put a body in a room every night of the week, some rooms are bound to be sub-standard.

I am definitely in the minority, because I don't like BCV at all! I love BC, but I don't like the villas, and, as a matter of fact, I disliked it enough to sell my 110 pt add-on(and bought OKW instead). I didn't like the location by the road, and the rooms with latticework blocking their view, and I really hated the table arrangement in the kitchen. I just don't "get it". And, when I see that resales of BCV are going for $85 per point, I am amazed. I just don't understand all the hoopla. If I am going to stay at BC, I would stay in the regular hotel rooms. I would much rather stay at BWV or OKW, though.

My family wasn't all that thrilled with it. We kept thinking about our beloved VWL and it just didn't compare.

There wasn't anything wrong with it. We are just so blinded by and in love with the WL that no other place feels like "home"... with the exception of Vero.

Thanks everyone! If there is one thing I see so much of on these boards it is how so many people like so many different DVC resorts for different reasons. I guess Disney knows their stuff when the design them! I think maybe we will stay on rented points at BWV and then BCV and decide...For me OKW was a no brainer, it somehow "fit" as I hear so many people say, but now the posts about SSR making it (possibly) nearly impossible to get rooms at the smaller resorts has made me a little nervous. Part of the reason we bought at DVC was to have flexibility and stay at different resorts. Thanks!

Dislike would be far too strong a word. I prefer OKW and BWV with VWL after that. VB would be next then a large jump to BCV followed by SSR with HH bringing up the rear. But in some aspects it's like someone giving you a luxury car, paying the gift taxes for you and you griping about the color. So I'll take a free stay at ANY including HH off season (actually which I can get very cheaply for some of the year).

I think BCVs wins the "ugly couch" award. (BWVs has the ugly shower curtain, but at least its in the bathroom). I'm not fond of the room decor.

I'm not an SAB fan, find it too difficult to track kids through. Mine are still too young for "meet us back here at 2:00" I think its probably a great pool for tots and older kids, but there are a few years where I start losing years from my life thinking about it.

But since my problem is the decor (which you like) and SAB (and you may have different aged kids, no kids, or just different kids and different feelings), my opinions probably don't count for much.

Sorry, we noticed the kids like it more the older they get.

BWV is our preference. But, we are going to try BCV in July for SAB. we have visited many times for Cape May, Beaches&Cream, etc. I think the resort is very beautiful and relaxing. But, it doesn't remind me of Cape Cod at all. Now maybe if they allowed non-DVCers to use the secret tunnel to SAB.... Are non-DVCers allowed to buy the tunnel permits? :earboy2:

BCV is one of our favorites too. But more for the common areas than the actual Villas themselves.

I love the entire Resort Complex, but felt anxious when we were in the rooms because of the bad views. I didnt enjoy our patio as much as other resorts.
I love the beach theme of the resort, but the Villa we had was swampy/road view. We will request pool view from now on.

I do like the close parking and that is a definite plus over BWV. BWV has better view options hands down.
