Is there anyone that doesn't like BOG?

We just got back from a 10 night stay. We ate some fantastic meals, but our least favorite by far was BOG. Maybe because we had been there at lunch on a previous trip, it really didn't seem any different other than the lighting and price. I was really disappointed. Our server was also the least friendly of all our servers. Other places we ate included:

Boma 2X for breakfast
Via Napoli
Shula's
Narcossee's
Crystal Palace breakfast
Liberty Tree Tavern
Mama Melrose's
Ohana's
Rose and Crown

Most experiences were quite good, a couple we will probably not repeat, but wanted to try. Nothing was horrible, but BOG was by far the least favorite for all 4 of us.

If you were to do a survey of every restaurant on site, every single one would have fans who rate it their absolute most favorites best dining experience ever, and those who thought it absolutely the most horrible den of trash they'd ever set foot in. The majority would fall somewhere in between. So no, you aren't alone, but not everyone will share your view.

BOG is not a signature, so I would never try to compare it with one. We've eaten there a couple of times. We think the themeing is amongst the best in all of WDW and had no complaints with the service. Food quality was adequate, which is all I ask of any regular TS restaurant at WDW. Anything more I consider a bonus. So put me down as being right in the middle.

I think its just mainly the menu options that holds it back. Nothing there we want to eat.

We have never had lunch there but done dinner 4-5 times. I think it's fine. We like it because we can get wine or beer with dinner at the mk. The food is okay.

My mother actually really enjoyed the food. Some friends we went with didn't like it. It's certainly NOT a signature but some people will like it and some won't. Just personal preference.

We have been to BOG twice and we won't go back unless we hear the place has changed a lot. It was okay but for the money there are places we like better. We plan on going across to Kona Cafe for lunch during our next visit to the Magic Kingdom.

I didn't like the entrees. I've had two. I have had dinner there three times. There is truth to the assertion that this is not a signature restaurant. It does a pretty good imitation of one, but it's not.

I did like the appetizers. And they have BEER. Good beer, even. I'll go again but not if I have to get up really early to get a reservation.

I've been to BOG twice, once for dinner and once for lunch, and while it wasn't horrible for me by any means, I think it's a "been there, done that" sort of place for me and my boyfriend. It was exciting to see when it first opened and I do think the theming is done very well. As far as the food goes, though, it's nothing special. Our dinner there was overpriced for what it was, but we still had a good time. Lunch is more reasonably priced, but my food was just okay. The only way I would return anytime soon is if I was traveling with someone who hadn't been there and wanted to try it. Otherwise, we have better ways to spend our time in MK. I do think the restaurant and castle are a great addition to the park, though.

Ate there for lunch and it was fine, but wouldn't make a point of going back again. Might try dinner someday if they change to a vegetarian choice other than ratatouille which my husband hates.

We ate there for lunch in October. It was great. Everyone at our table loved everything they got and we all agreed we'd love to eat there again. It was a great use of a QS credit in our opinion.

I think you've said it very well. It has great theming but is not a signature. So like all non-signatures it doesn't pretend to do quality like California Grill or Narcoossee's. TS should be good but I wouldn't expect great. BOG is one of those in the middle restaurants.

we ate there for lunch and dinner on our last trip....lunch was pretty good and a good value.

the dinner menu SOUNDED delicious and impressive but the actual food itself? not so much. it was VERY expensive (and for a new yorker to give pause to a restaurants prices is a hard thing to make happen) for the quality. it all seemed very assembly line and mediocre in quality. seemingly not a lot of individual care given to the preparation of each dish. dessert is also underwhelming.

i don't remember anything notably bad about service. i do recall the whole meal taking an excessive amount of time.

we are skipping BOG altogether on our trip next month.

We enjoyed our dinner there a lot...our server (Tim) was fantastic, and I thought the food was very good.

I can see how the food isn't to everyone's tastes, but thought it was a reasonably good variety and different enough from other restaurants around that it will be one we will hit again...we can get burgers chicken or pasta pretty much anywhere else, so enjoyed the options like lamb and pork.

And while some consider the beer and wine to be a huge plus...I agree it is nice to have a drink with dinner, and liked the options there better than most other restaurants which are mostly focused on the Bud and Sam Adams options, and not enough european or microbrew options (and Sam Adams IS NOT microbrew anymore).

It was the least favorite lunch of our trip. I thought it would be a fantastic way to start our vacation, and it was our first meal in the parks, but it was disappointing, and made my kids worry that the following meals would this way.

For what it's worth- we only ordered vegetarian and fish dishes- the quiche and tuna nicoise salad, so can't comment on how the meat-based meals were.

None of my fish-loving kids (Disney adults) would finish the tuna. The dressing for the salad (ordered on the side) was way too vinegary, almost to the point of being inedible. The quiche was tasty, but dry.

My girls (Disney kids) did enjoy the mahi-mahi, but were disappointed that the only dessert for them was a measly dry cookie. Two adults in our party gave our desserts to them. I had pre-ordered additional desserts (intending to either use a snack credit or pay OOP) for my girls knowing that the other kids and adults would have them included in the DDP, but they did not show up at our table, and I would have had to go back out in line to re-order their desserts (no at-table ordering allowed).

The desserts were good, and it was fun to try the gray stuff, but they were much smaller than other desserts offered at other restaurants.

The visuals and overall design of the dining area is great; wish the food and overall experience matched.

This

I think it is beautiful inside, but I don't care for the food. The dinner menu doesn't really appeal to me, not at those prices at least, and I hated what I had for lunch when we went.

It is also very loud and crowded with people walking around everywhere which made the meal a little uncomfortable and awkward at times. I'm not a big fan of people walking around me and getting in my space when I'm trying to eat. Overall, I didn’t find it a very relaxing meal.

Also, it is a little weird to me that you are in this gorgeous formal dining hall, but the food, service, and table atmosphere all scream food court. I'm sure dinner is better, and I am glad you don’t need to make an expensive ADR for a formal meal to eat here, but I think I will always find something just a little bit strange about the whole formal dining food court feel.

However, I still think it is worth doing at least once if only to take in the beautiful decor.

We ate there once for dinner and three times for lunch. Dinner was pretty bad and we will not do that again. Lunch was a pretty good value for a quick service dinning credit and we were able to get a BOG fastpass and order ahead. The roast pork at lunch was better than other items on the lunch menu. We were going to skip it on our next trip and go to the Liberty Tree Tavern , now I just found out LLT will be closed while we are there, so I guess we will try for another BOG fastpass.

I wont say we dislike it but we wont go out of our way or stress about getting in again. If it happens ok but Im not waking up at 180 days out and booking it.

To me, when you look at any place that isn't a restaurant but a experience the food is eh. We don't find the BOG menu appealing at all so we did dessert our last time and hope to do it again. It was my favorite experience of our trip. We sat in front of the window and watched it snow, our waitress was amazing(she brought us the grey stuff and you couldn't order it yet), we enjoyed some adult beverages after a long hot day and our interaction with the Beast was one of our favorite interactions.

It looks like I am not alone. It wasn't horrible, it was just one of those places I do not need to repeat. I am glad we tried it once for dinner. We had lunch there on a previous trip and I felt it was a great value if on the dining plan, but feel differently at dinner. In comparison to some of the other places we ate, it just wasn't the same quality for the same price. Better for those of you that do want to get in because I won't be taking one of the hard to get reservations.

I have to say one thing that really bothered me was with the waitress when my kids asked what they grey stuff was -- she answered the same as I heard others answer, "It's delicious, don't believe me ask the dishes." That was fine, but what bothered me is then she walked away and would never tell them what it was like. At other tables she would say the same line and then say, it is similar to an Oreo cream. I guess she didn't care for us after we asked for a children's menu for my DD (10). Even though our table of 4 spent over $150 including entrees, drinks (a specialty beer for DH -- which he really did like), appetizers, and desserts. Sometimes I wonder if they know it will be packed regardless of their service so it doesn't matter.:confused3

Every restaurant will have people who love it and others who would never go back. We have only eaten there twice, once for lunch and once for dinner.

Lunch was a huge disappointment. I thought everything was horribly salty and the whole experience was a chaotic mess. We will probably try it again next trip anyway.

Dinner was a great experience. Most of the food was good and we had outstanding service.

Finally got to try this for dinner last trip. Like most of my dining experiences at Disney the ambience is great and the food is meh. I had the ratatouille and my sister had the steak. The ratatouille was ok, a bit sour but I was expecting the type of ratatouille out of the movie "Ratatouille" (which is not the traditional preparation) instead I got... the traditional preparation on a rice pilaf. My sister thought the steak, although cooked properly, was tasteless. (She much preferred the steak at Coral Reef or the beef tips at 'Ohana). Service was great.

The ballroom is a great setting but I pity the people who have to eat in the rose room with everyone, including me :thumbsup2, walking by their table to get a picture of the rose or the other room with the Beast and Belle statue which is completely banal. (C'mon imagineers... couldn't do the KITCHEN there with animatronic appliances and an occasional musical number?!)

Like CRT, it's something you should do at least once but I'm not jumping through hoops and stalking ADRs to go back there again. I'd prefer eating in the village at Gaston's and a cinnamon roll. Mmmm... cinnamon roll...
