I hate it, I hate it I tell ya! I've been waiting all day for this with my daughter. I was told somewhere around 12 would be the first swearing in. I've been waiting since then. She called me once to tell me that she passed the physical, still weighed too much, but body fat test passed her. And was waiting for the paperwork to be done.

So, I'm waiting and waiting and waiting.

Ack no! I hate it, hate it, hate it too! But I bet not as bad as you do right now.

For the both of us!

We need a better hug smilie! We need a great big, bear hug like smilie! :Pinkbounc

I'm ashamed to say that I've been so caught up in my own "la-la-land" I didn't even know there was something going onwith your DD.. I'm assuming she is joining the military?

If so - then a zillion hugs coming your way and hers..

And yes - I hate waiting for anything too!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Momma Bear give yourself a break. Sheesh, how are we supposed to beat up on you when you do it all yourself. You're no fun at all.

Yep, she's joining the national guard and I'm going just a touch crazy. But it is the national guard, I'm not giving her to osama, and I just have to remember that more often.
Anway, finally, today is the ceremony and I don't know what's going on and it's driving me a touch loony.

LOL.. "Beating up on myself" is my specialty - and I think I do a darn fine job of it, if I don't say so myself!!

But enough about me.. So your DD is joining the National Guard - huh? Well I'd be a wreck too!! Bursting with pride, but still a wreck!

No does she have to go off to Boot Camp or something right after this ceremony? Or has she already done that and I missed the whole thing?

Please tell your DD "thank you" - from me and my family.. If not for people like her (and a Mom like you - who obviously raised her to believe in and defend her country) we all would be forced to live in the same horrible conditions that others do throughout the world.. Both of you have every right to be EXTREMELY proud!!

You and your girls will be in my nightly prayers, you can be sure..

Hugs,
C.Ann

Right now, she's probably just waiting.

She's mainly joining the national guard for her education. They will pay for her college and vet school. Her AIT is in radiology, maybe. Right now, she is finding out if all that her recruiter told her is what she gets. We'll see.
She figures not only will it help for college, it's something that will be good with being a vet.

She's thought about the military for a long time. She figures it will help her grow up, she wants to do this on her own, she doesn't want me or her dad to have to get loans, she doesn't want loans hanging over her head either.

I'll find out later when her basic training starts and AIT. She hasn't started any of that yet.

I am glad she is able to be an adult, and make her own decisions...good for all involved.;)

Waiting stinks!!! Hang in there !!

My ds said that the first thing he learned to do was Hurry up and wait! When he had his swearing in, they picked him up at 6am and told me he would be done at 4, well we waited and waited and waited. I got to talk to the all the advisors and be there for the swearing in and we finally got out about 11 pm that night! I am so glad that you were able to be there with her. Where you the only parent there? I couldn't believe that I was the only parent there. It was something I was glad I didn't miss. Let us know how everything turns out. :grouphug: :grouphug:

Nope, I wasn't able to go. I wasn't offered the option of going during all that. It's probably a good thing.

I'm still waiting. They said they will have a second swearing in ceremony at a nearby base that I could be at and I've been dressed up all day to go to. They said it would be around noon. I guess it's noon somewhere. ;)

And I know the hurry up and wait well. My h was in the military for 6 years.

I really detest waiting Laurie! That's why I go to Disney so I can practice waiting in their lines!!!:teeth: :bounce:

oooo, I'm mad. I waited all day for nothing. I took the day off work, ticking off my boss for nothing. I was dressed up all day long for nothing.

She just called me, it's all done and over with. The ceremony that I was supposed to go to, won't be held for a few days after all.

Anyway, she is in radiology. She won't be able to start until NEXT June. She is to take her first year of college with whatever loans are neccessary and she'll be paid back in full.
Her college will be paid in full, they waived the 30,000 limit for her.
After this year of college, she will start basic and AIT. Combined will be a year with a week in between.
After training she will have an associates in radiology.

She's been hearing that vet school is really tough, with a pretty bad drop out rate, including suicide. I don't know if it's true or not.
At any rate, someone there heard about her SAT score and that she was in radiology and tried to get it arranged for her to go to a hospital for an interview for a job.
They had to tell them that she hadn't had the training yet.

She was asked by someone about her stay at the hotel and how it was etc. She told him about the mix up with the room and he was furious. Apparently, the one that was asking her about it, is the one in charge of the whole shabang and was going to speak to someone about it. He wasn't happy. The hotel was supposed to hold the rooms on her floor for the kids, and they didn't.

Anyway, that's all I can think of right now. She's in.
