We are tent camping at FW in a couple of weeks...just for a long weekend. Is it possible to request a certain site and get it? I remember trying this a few years ago with no luck...anyone???

You can request specific loops but not specific sites, maybe you will get lucky when you get there and your desired site will be available. :goodvibes

They say, if you phone the front desk 7 days before check in and ask for a specific site, they will note it on your file, but no guarantees. I have phoned 3 times and got what I wanted once.

It's actually better to fax the request in directly to the Fort about 5 days in advance. Phone messages can get lost or forgotten. Faxes get put in a file, then the room/site assigner can go through the faxes each day as he/she actually works on the site assignments.

There is, of course, a way to get exactly the site you've requested... as is evidenced by some folks who have the same site year after year. Some even have brass plaques with their site number on it! But, they are the Fort Elite, the anchors of Fort-life and the beacons of inflatable Christmas joy! I asked one of these Fort fixtures how she does it, and though I doubt she laid bare every secret, she did say that she makes her reservation on the first possible day (499 days in advance) and notes her request on the ressie. She faxes her request 5 days before check-in. And she follows up the fax with a call, just to confirm the fax was received. I suspect the Fort assigner weights these requests based on the oldest requests, the longest length of stay, and probably history of the guest. I don't think that I could get site 734 at Christmas, no matter how early I call on the morning 499 days out... the Neil's have that one locked! They have a history of putting on a "good show", which Disney loves! I have requested either 301 or 303 for next Christmas only because the Fort royalty that used to stay there have moved on, but given my short length of stay I doubt I will get it. But hey, it doesn't hurt to ask... they can't hit ya! LOL

This past December we noted our request on our ressie (which we made in January) and faxed 4-5 days prior. We noted what loop we'd prefer and WHY (in our case it's dog-related) and gave our top 3 site # requests too.

We got our #1 pick! Now keep in mind this was for 11/30-12/19, so we were coming in on "clear out" day after Thanksgiving, and these are typically slower weeks for FW. We also mentioned we were celebrating our anniversary, but no idea if that played into things or not. We also made sure to arrive nice and early on check-in day.

Good luck!

This past year we checked in Dec 1st for 2 weeks, I requested a specific loop on my ressie that was made 1 year prior and phoned the 7 days before and requested a specific site. When we checked in not only did I not get the site I asked for, we didn't even get in the loop! We ended up in loop 700 on the Monday we checked in and they told us we could move to our requested loop 300 on the Friday. Well needless to say, we fell in love with the 700 loop and never did move. So it all worked out for the better for us.
