Is there any place on property to upload pictures off digital camera when full?

I only have 256mb cartidge. I was wondering if the cartrige gets full, is there anywhere I can download (or whatever it is called) the pictures to make more room?

On our trip last Dec we found that most of the photo developing shops on property could burn your images to a CD. Problem was, though, that you had to leave the card with them for a few hours, if not overnight. And if my memory serves me correct, they wanted about $10 - $15 for the CD. You might be able to find another 256M card for that much (with rebates) during all of the current holiday sales. And you wouldn't be left without a card.

But call your hotel to confirm the above.

Hope this helps.

I know at least 1 shop in Epcot offers this service, and I believe the Dark Room at MGM does this too!

You know, in Disney Time is Money. Do you really want to waste any time waiting to upload pictures or to get your memory card back. I know that we all pinch and save everylast penny to endulge in our Disney addictions but...

Now you can get memory cards for resonable prices. Shop around online or in your local electronic stores. I bet you might find that the price of more memory might be lower than you think. Or as another thought, everyone has digital cameras now. See if any of your friends or family have memory cards that they will let you borrow!

We saw some 512 cards for $23 this weekend. I would go along with the recommendation to get an extra card. This also gives you a spare so if one goes bad, you can still get pictures. If you have to buy a card at Disney, you will have to pay way too much.

I agree - having to mess with drop off & pick up @ the parks is using time that could be better used on attractions. Get more memory cards.

Another thought - if you did get caught needing to burn your pix to disc - wouldn't it be nice if On site Disney resorts provided a drop box @ your hotel near the food court/lobby when you could leave the card to be downloaded & then pick the card & Disc up later that day or the next day. Combine it with a system that you could charge it on your room key. That way you wouldn't waste time & could only have 2 memory cards but still do fine.

Just to echo the others....they wanted me to leave the card for 4+ hours!!!!! It only cost me a few dollars more for another card. I would look around now with the holiday sales and grab one. Save yourself the aggrevation

To answer your question though, yes the parks have that option for a hefty fee and a lot of time

We were having the same conversation just the other day. We have 512MB and thought that we may just pack up the computer and take it with us, but when I was at Wal-Mart I saw a 256MB SD card for $13.88, so I picked up 2 of those. With our 5MP camera it says we should have around 1,000 pictures (for all cards combined). Not sure if we'll take that many seeing as how we just delete the ones that don't turn out.

We tried to do this, but they can't do it on Memory Stick Duo's. The guy told us only SD & XD cards. This was at Animal Kingdom. We just sucked it up and purchased another memorey stick rather than waste time going from Kodak Station to Kodak Station.

I would definitely just get an extra card before you leave. Much easier!

I dumped my @ AK first thing in the morning in OCt when we were there - it took only 10 mins or so & it was $15. Check out your camera - I thought I needed to dump & when I finally figured out where my camera told me how many photos I had left to take _I didn't have to dump them - I had PLEANTY of room left! So needless to say it was a waste of the $15!
if you have your own trasportation I would go to a Walgreens & dump them there-much much cheaper & it's done pretty quick. They aren't hard to find & then there's Walmart behind the Gaylord Hotel/convention center (BIG BIG building) off I - 4 (I THINK that's the road anyway).

Here's another hiccup to putting it on a CD . . . some posters have had the experience of having their memory stick pictures put on a CD. However, when they got home, they found the CD was blank! :earseek:

yes - I would be sure and check the CD before leaving and reformatting your card!

Great thread....my DH and I were just talking about this over the weekend. Thanks for all the helpful information! :flower:

You can save space by lowering the size of the pictures. If you shoot in 5 megapixels you are wasting alot of memory needlessly unless you want to develop all of your pictures as 8 x 10's. If you want to develop standard 4x6 prints you only need a resolution of 1600 x 1200. If you want to blow up your images to 8 x 10 you can use the setting 2048 x 1536. By using the lower settings you save alot of memory. If you want a bigger picture you can alter the settings right before you take the picture you think you would want blown up.

At the camera store on Main Street, you can buy a CD (around $12 I think) and burn your images from media to CD yourself (using the self service machines there).

It's not the fastest, but within a few minutes you should be able to copy all to a CD.

Check out the Internet for more Memory - Just bought a 512Mb Compact flash for $16.00 after rebate and a 1GB { for daughter Xmas gift} for $37.00 after rebate. I had pictures transferred to CD 2 years ago on a 11 day cruise, when we got home the CD had broke in the carryon going home, thankfully I still had most of them left on my cards

The camera shops in all 4 theme parks can now download yoru pics to CD.

MK also has self-service kiosks that you can use, so you won't have to leave your card with them. On my last trip, in late May, MGM was within a few days of having the self-serve machines installed as well.
