Is there any kennel opened most of the time for travelers to take dogs?

I know most kennels are open only from about 9-6 and only Mon-Sat, but I also know that Orlando is a huge vacation area.

Is there any kennel nearby with off-hours that would allow for later drop off and Sunday pick up around?

I would love to have our dog nearby even though we can't have her in the condo.

Thanks,

Dawn

We have had ZERO luck finding kennel services in Orlando over the years. We have basically settled on using Celebration World Resort (which allows pets <40 lbs) as our base when the dogs travel with us. Then we utilize our Annual Universal passes to get kennel daycare at Universal when we need to board them. They cannot stay there overnight however but the kennel is open until 1 hr after City Walk closes most days.

Hmmm.....sounds like a business opportunity waiting to happen!

I know many would be willing to pay a little more to have a place nearby!

We do have a good kennel here, but it would have been nice there.

Our dog is over 40 lbs anyway.

Thanks,

Dawn

Dawn, the Disney Kennels have varied hours and are open 7 days a week, but you have to go by and walk you dog during the day. The hours usually are tied to the parks hours that the kennel is located near. Granted, they are not full service kennels so you do have to work your park touring around making sure you walk your dog.

But then where would I leave her at night?

The Disney kennels do overnight boarding also. You just have to be the one there in the morning to walk them. And you should walk them in the evening also.

I usually used the Epcot Kennel when I was going to keep my dog there for the entire stay. Also, if you don't get to the kennel before they close for the evening, you can call security and they will open the kennel so you can walk your dog..you just need your copy of the paperwork they give you.

the security phone number is on the door - if they have locked up before you arrive.

disney kennels are great for late night arrival or departures. (okay I am strange like to leave at 4 am)

would also recommend Celebration world resort for week stays.

It is generally listed on skyauction (also listed on getaways)

I have only seen 1 bedrooms available through Celebration. I should call them and see if they will allow 2 adults and 3 kids if they are all under age 10.

Do you know?

Also, how much are the Disney Kennels per 24 hour period?

Thanks,

Dawn

you do not want a 1-bedroom with CWR unless it has a full kitchen. the partial kitchen are much too small for a family of four much less a family of five.

the kennel charges were $11 per day (offsite), $9 per day (onsite) - onsite includes any WDW hotel.

at FW - which is easy to get back and forth too from offsite - no paying for parking.
