Is there any food you can't fly with?

We are flying to WDW next week, and usuing ME, so we won't be able to go to a grocery store. We're bringing a large cooler bag. Are there any foods that you are NOT allowed to fly with? Obviously, we won't be flying with any perishables, but is there anything else that's against the rules?

The only thing I can think of is Bacardi 151 (does that really count as food?). Nothing over 140 proof is allowed. But you should be fine with just about anything.

I don't know the answer, but I would go to the airline's website and see if they say anything, or also call the airline and ask. 'Tis better to know before hand.

I'd check to see if you're allowed to bring fruits and vegetables in. Florida already has the citrus canker problems. Have a great trip!

I'm not sure either but I know one time when my mom was flying I was waiting in the security line with her and someone in front of her had a cooler and they had to take it outside and empty all the contents out. I think it was because they had a block of ice in it but I'm not sure. I only remember it because they held up the rest of the line. Probably will need to call the airline directly and ask if there are restrictions on coolers.

Also I recently read somewhere that wine and champagne should not be put in checked baggage, if the cargo hold is unpressurized, the cork could pop. Meanwhile it is also unwise to put glass or crushable food containers in soft side luggage, even in the overhead bins.

CHOCOLATE

Especially if flying out of Cleveland, Ohio!

I was stopped at security in December with a mile long line of people behind me waiting to get through security. They stopped me as my suitcase hit the xray machines. I was really freaked out and I could not figure out what I had that had them all upset.

They pulled me over and said, "You have chocolate in there?"
I answered, "Yes, a gift for my mother. It is unwrapped but boxed."
Then the exray officer said, "Well, you are going to have to open it and.....
..........share some with us!"

I about fell through the floor! Here I was all shook up and they were just messing with me! I told the guy that either he had a really good nose or a special machine that could find chocolate.

I told him that my mother would miss even one piece and that chances are I would not even get a bite of it so there was no way he was getting any either!

So beware of the chocolate hound in Cleveland!

If are crossing between Canada and the US a whole different list of rules apply

As for the PB, I would extend to all tree nuts and ground nuts in case of allergies

We're flying from Toronto and were told no beef (or beef products) or citrus, either on the plane for a snack or in the luggage. I'm surprised they didn't mention anything about peanut products?
It would be wise to call the airline and find out what you are allowed to bring and how best to pack it - otherwise you might find yourself dumping a lot in the garbage - after trying so hard so save money! Each airline has their own guidelines as well as those they are bound to by law.

Actually I think it's probably more due to the tariffs on beef - it's all a pretty complicated - free trade - you owe us the taxes - stop putting taxes on our beef etc etc. The trade ban was lifted months ago on our Alberta cattle (when they found there were no actual cases and only one case that was suspicious that turned out to be false), but the US gov put large tariffs on them so that US ranchers could not afford to purchase them and were pretty much forced into only purchasing US cattle. I swear our politicians are worse than kids who can't get along in the schoolyard. I'll leave them to nag each other over the issue.
To me - a great steak is a great steak! Go Alberta! Go Texas! There are no borders for me when it comes to great food.

I am wondering if the ban on beef coming across the border on commercial airlines doesn't still have something to do with the previously placed ban on beef from Canada. There really is no way to prove it came from whichever source.

We sell beef cows here in NY and even this past fall we got more per pound for our calves than we ever have, which tells us there are still some major issues with the US about importing beef.

We flew last year from BOS to PHX on American and we were asked not to open any bags of peanuts or any food that contained peanuts. I am assuming a passenger had an allergy, but nothing was said to why nor did anyone (within hearing distance) ask.

We were going to pack a 12 pack of Cokes wrapped in towels in one of the suitcases so we'd have some to tie us over until we make a grocery store visit and so we'd have an empty bag to pack souveniers on the way home. I never thought of the decompression issues. Would the cans explode in a flight?

I am thinking that the baggage hold is not heated and is subject to freezing
