Title says it all. We will be at DLR 6/3-6/8 and I'm hoping they might just do a soft opening even though the news I've read so far all says nope. Any chance they might just surprise us or is it that if Disney says 'No' they mean 'NO!'?

If you are super lucky.

They are starting invite only previews on the 9th right after you have left.

Well, there is always a possibility, but if I were a Magic 8 Ball I would probably say "My sources say no".

But it just means you will have to plan a return trip! :rotfl2:

Yeah you never know! My gut says no, but the one advantage is the area is looking pretty complete so there is a chance. But I also think they want to keep it unveiled until the announced previews as well, so I wouldnt bet on it!

:( I have a gut feeling they won't BUT I'll keep hoping just the same. I'm taking my laptop with us so if they do happen to bless us, I'll let everyone know. Fingers crossed!

We will be there June 5-10. Hoping for a soft opening but if not will just have to plan to use our new GCH DVC points next year.

Yea I get the feeling that they wont. I think they are just going to have their invite only parties and stop there till the 15th. I was hoping they would do a soft opening last week of May for our trip but Im not counting on it now.

I highly doubt it, from what Ive read and heard is that the media will only get a sneak peak the day before it opens.

Unless you win a contest then your out of luck I'm afraid. I think you have a better chance of riding the Matterhorn when it comes out of refurb. I've seen Disneyland open a ride a few days earlier that the said date of it coming back online.

You never know, twice now we have been lucky. Way back in what 94 or 95, can't remember we were walking down the path to jungle cruise and was asked if we would like to test Indian jones, they wanted to see if a blind individual would have trouble in the room with the movie, someone had said they would. Sure enough that is the hardest room of any in DL for me to get through. So we went on probably two weeks before it opened to the public, with several staff members.

Then when we went in 2006 I think when the Nemo sub opened, we where there for several days before the ride opened, we entered many ap and other contest but never won, so we just hoped. Then one night while walking to the monorail, a cast member handed us a pass to go on, we had no wait and just walked right on. When it did open a few days later and for over a year we could not get near it so we were so happy to have won twice, especially the two rides that had the longest wait lines, if anyone can remember the Indy ride had wait lines or four and more hours at one point after they opened.

there are a few previews: the AP charity thing for Choc Walk, the media preview on the 14th, the CM preview, and the AP lottery draw preview on the 9th.

If you get to see Carsland, you got lucky!!

Just before Splash Mountain opened DLR did trial runs with cast members as passengers. We could hear them screaming and having a lot of fun. We were so jealous! We tried to beg our way onto the ride, saying we were stock holders, which is true, but it didn't do any good.

Pretty funny but Splash Mountain was the FIRST time I ever did a ride for soft opening! I was just barely a teenager and going to DL with my brother and cousin for the day with our parents. We knew the ride was going to open in a few weeks but we were HOPING it would be open sooner because we didnt want to wait another year to do it (back then DL was a once a year ONLY thing even though we lived 30 mins away--kids today have it soooo lucky today lol). Anyway we even called the park to ask was it opened and the operator couldnt tell us if it was or wasnt. We assumed it wouldnt be then and just went to the park to enjoy our usual day and just catch it next year.

It was around early afternoon we were on the Mark Twain when we were hearing these screams but had no idea what it was? It was when we passed the mountain when saw actual PEOPLE riding down the flumes our excitement level just jumped. It was like Christmas came to DL lol. We were so excited, we were praying for the boat go faster so we could get off and get to Splash as soon as we could. We got off, rushed over and asked could anyone ride that day and the CM said 'yep' with a wide smile and it was the best day in our life. The line was over 2 hours...as far as we were concerned, it was 15 mins lol. If he said 4 hours I think we still wouldve stood in it. Rode it, hands down it was the best ride in the park and 2 hours was worth it!

I still think about it because these were the days without internet and twitter so you would ONLY know if something was open if you were physically in the park. So just catching something early that you had no idea was open when you only go once a year was a total high you just couldnt believe! Good times! ::yes::
