Hello, Rececently I posted that about getting votes for my sister in an internet contest. It was not spam or porn and required no money, or log in. Granted I did post it in a few too many places, but I was acting on suggestions of other dis posters. These posts were removed as solicitous. Until I realized that some posts that are also solicitous get by and no one removes them. There is a 10 page thread asking people to send birthday cards. That is technically solicitous. I think it is a wonderful thread and the people sending them are doing a nice thing for nativetxn. There are also many people asking for prayers, advice, discounts and to shop for items in various places (with payment of course) I am not trying to start a war or get any of these removed. I just don't understand why a simple plea for contest votes from my internet friends is deemed wrong. I have emailed about it and gotten no response. I wouldn't post this, but I am running out of time and I just wanted help to win.

Thanks
I hope I didn't offend or annoy.

I was trying to figure out how to say what AFR said without sounding horrible. She did it perfectly, so I will just say:

Ditto AFR--ITA.

I voted when you posted yesterday. But, if they are being removed then there is a reason.I dont htink if they have been removed that you should keep putting them back up again.

I didn't feel the need to give the backstory. Like she finally graduated from college, after a ten year hiatus, she lost 60 lbs, and moved home to help me take care of our dad. So she entered to win a vacation that she can't afford as a celebration. So I can go too, maybe I won't and she'll take her mom instead. I thought people would help it's just a silly contest. I only had an issue with the differences in the rules and use of the reason "solicitous"

I think the key might be personal gain v. just doing something nice for someone.

JMO.

Well if you think about it, both are doing something nice for someone. One is asking for a favor for her mother and the other is asking a favor for her sister. I don't see how it is the OP that is gaining anything by it anymore then Nativetxzn is. Both are asking their DIS friends to help them out. Personally I do think it wrong if one can do it and not the other. That seems to go on quite a bit around here lately. .................

While I certainly see your point, I don't think that most people would equate some birthday cards with a vacation. JMO.

Posts that are soliciting for the purpose of some sort of financial or monetary gain are not permitted on these boards. A free cruise definitely has a rather large monetary value - sending cards, pixie dust, prayers, exchanges, etc do not.

I hope that answers your question, but should you need it clarified further feel free to contact admin@wdwinfo.com
