your state or your city and do you like it?

We have "Love that Dirty Water, Boston you're my home" but I'm not really crazy about the song. It's okay. But not something I'd probably listen to if it didn't have Boston in it. :teeth:

I always get jealous of people in Omaha when I hear the song "Omaha" by Counting Crows...

Thousands involving Texas and Dallas....

All country from what I know, so I pretty much hate 'em :cool1:

The reason that I love "I love that dirty water" is because they play it at fenway after the red sox win a home game. There is NOTHING like that feeling when the first few cords are played and you are in the stands. I always get butterflies in my stomach! If I were to explain the feeling that I get when I hear it I would have to say Bliss!

"Dirty Water" is better than "Massachusetts" by the Bee Gees!

No way. I loved Massachusetts, Robin Gibb's voice, particularly in their earlier work, gives me chills.

Its funny, because Dirty Water lyrics were always dubbed to change to the city in which it was played. "DC you're my home" became the lyrics to that song for those of us who lived here, which always annoyed me since it changed the whole intent of the song.

I can't think of any songs about DC, but the Counting Crows did Raining in Baltimore....Baltimore is my hometown.

Hey MA folk,

How about "Please Come to Boston" - Dave Loggins (Worse than Bee Gees, sorry Snoop-ster)

Almost Heaven. West Virginia.
Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenendoah River.
Life is old there, older than the trees.
Younger than the mountains, rollin' like a breeze.

Country Roads....take me home,
To the place....I belong !
West Virginia, mountain mama.
Take me home...Country Roads.

We sing it after every home football victory, led by the players, coaches, and the Pride of West Virginia, the Mountaineer Marching Band.

All my exes live in Texas? :confused3

Nah, I don't like that one. I don't think we have any good ones that aren't country :rotfl:

"Beautiful, beautiful Barbados ...... gem of the Caribbean sea"

It's OK. It's a folk song. I wouldn't listen to it the way I listen to rock music, but I've been known to hum along.

There are several more folk songs about my island as well.

I love that one too! :rotfl:

New York State of Mind by Billy Joel always used to choke me up when I was living in TX and was dying to move "back home." I still love that song, especially when he performs it live in NYC and changes some of the towns/newspapers around that he mentions and people cheer their heads off.

I also have a fondness for Frank Sinatra's New York, New York. When I was in elementary school we did a dance to that for our yearly "dance festival" and it brings back some good memories.

There are tons more but those are my two favorites.

My best friend is a WVU grad and I often visited her on campus so I know how seriously WVU people take this song (as well as their football team!)

I always wished I was from NYC just because I love those two songs so much. And "Miami 2017" (Seen the lights go out on Broadway.) Ah, Billy Joel. I love him. Of course, Frank Sinatra is amazing too. I wish one of them had written a song about Texas! :rotfl:
