Is there a single rider line at Space Mountain?

No. They're only at Expedition Everest, Test Track, and Rock'n'Rollercoaster.

I wish. But for the other attractions, I've found that the single rider line is very fast. For TT, I've found that it's no more than 10 or 15 minute waits even when the ride has 2 hour posted waits.

Does anyone know why WHY Disney doesn't offer more single rider lines? It just doesn't seem smart to me. Why send out empty seats when you could fill them with other people who will now not be waiting in an extra line? Sure, it will lead to some people riding over and over again, but EE and RnR seem like the most likely re-rides of all the attractions anyway. Maybe Toy Story and Buzz since they are games.

I say Disney, but really I'm complaining about any theme park that doesn't do this. I would think it could be done without even needing an extra employee. Now on a ride like space where you are only putting 3 in a car anyway, maybe you don't really want a stranger straddling you. But Splash, BTMR, Buzz, TSMM, should all have a single rider line IMO. Maybe even Peter Pan due to the length of the line.

With some rides, it's an issue of space. There just isn't room to add a third line for single riders. And with some rides, it just seems weird riding with a stranger. The rides that have bench seats and a single lap bar don't seem appropriate to have strangers riding together. TT, RnRC, and EE all have more individual seats and individual restraints.

ETA: There are some rides where, even though there isn't a single rider line, the CMs routinely call out for singles or pairs to fill seats. It's happened to me when I was traveling solo at Soarin' and TSMM.

I agree. TSMM actually had a single rider line at one point in time. We used it because we wanted to ride and the line was 2 hours or so. It took just as long to get on it as the standby line. I think that's why they eliminated it.

SM would be awkward to have a single rider line IMO. I don't like the idea of sitting with a stranger on that particular attraction. Something like RnRC or Everest, it's fine because it's so fast.

I could maybe see BTMRR but people slide on the seat on that attraction and it would be really awkward to slide into a stranger.

That's weird that TSMM would take just as long. I'm not sure why it would be any slower than other 2 seat attractions.

As for Splash, DL has single rider for it, and you straddle the person your sitting with like space mountain. I can see how sitting next to a stranger for nearly 15 minutes in a slow quiet environment could be awkward for someone I guess.

Soarin had a single rider when it first opened. I guess too many people chose to use single rider rather than use standby.

I think they experimented with single rider at Space Mountain once but it didn't work out.

Keep a heads up once you get near the loading area in Space. They are often looking for parties of 1 or 2.

For space mountain, between the way they load and that the seats are behind one another rather than anyone sitting next to someone, a single rider line isn't really needed for them to easily fill up cars. Other than a party of 5, it's pretty easy for a good loader to send out all cars filled.

THIS:thumbsup2

there isn't really a need for SR line on Space Mtn. The CM's are usually skilled enough to avoid leaving empty seats. When they get parties other than six, they simply adjust the order in which they back fill other rows.

so if you are a party of one or two on Space Mtn (or even three) keep your ears open! You may get called to hop a tiny bit ahead.

CM's at Saorin' also have the ability to call guests from further back in line if they have spaces to fill. A single rider line would be terrible. it would not move at all.

SR only works when the vehicle is set up with per rider lap restraints. Most WDW rides are not set up that way. Many WDW attractions have bench seating that can fit a variable number of folks. Or else they are shows with very long rows of seats.

I agree with keeping your ears open. They will call out for people on space and also TOT. Anywhere they have spots you line up first before filling

I think they should be instructed to fill every spot on every ride unless there is no line.

I'm pretty sure that's the basic job description.

Though they can only do so much to compensate for guests that don't listen to directions. (Like guests who don't load when told to load). Nearly every trip, we see guests who can't follow directions when told to load Winnie the Pooh. plenty of times we've seen guests who don't follow directions loading Space Mtn and BTMRR. I don't mean disabled guests, I mean guests who (mostly) just aren't paying attention.
