Is there a show you like from "across the pond"?

Top Gear on BBC. My father got me into it, and the guys on the show are just wacky. Am a bit of a car nut here as well, so I just love it.

I'm not even a car nut, but I still love Top Gear.

British TV shows makes me think of my dm. :goodvibes When I was a teen we used to watch Are You Being Served?, Keeping up Appearances , and Vicar of Dibbley on PBS.

My current BBC addiction? Cash in the Attic :lovestruc

It's amazing to me on that show that no matter how ordinary the house , everyone ALWAYS has something from the 18th century just lying about the house. :lmao: Wow, I wish I had a silverware set from 1715 lol

My Netflix is overflowing with some wonderful stuff!! Thanks so much for all the wonderful choices!!

Keep it up!! I want to hear more!! :cool1:

Are you being served? As Time Goes By, Waiting for God, Keeping Up Appearances, Dr. Who, Merlin, Vicar of Dibley, Robin Hood, and a couple of shows nobody has mentioned yet. Midsomer Murders, Poirot, and Jeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes.

I love Cash in the Attic..I love to see English homes and some of the stuff they find is amazing! I also love Gordon Ramsey shows from England. While he is critical over there, he is not mean and seems to be trying to improve businesses. I think here in the US, they just try to get him to be as mean as possible, which is not enjoying to watch. Love the English version of What Not to Wear...and Last Restaurant Standing

Just realized, I am a BBCA reality show junkie!

My daughter really likes "Dancing on Ice," which I believe is the British version of "Dancing with the Stars" (except it is figure-skating!).

I never thought about Netflix - do you think they'd have it?

I am such a fan of the Vicar of Dibley. It's one of my top 3 favorite shows, (Golden Girls, Vicar of Dibley and Masterpiece Theatre.) :)

There was also a show on a loooong time ago called "Man About the House." It was the British show that Three's Company was based on. I liked that one quite a bit.

ETA: I just thought of a great kids show that I watched when I was young called "The Tomorrow People." That was done by the BBC. Loved it!

I was just trying to remember the name of "The Tomorrow People"! Thank you. I used to watch that too. Didn't they used to "jaunt" around because of little devices that they had. I think that one girl was named Liz. My favorite episode was when there was a painting that was making all the kids in school act up. Very strange show, but interesting!

  • Prime Suspect
  • Being Human
  • Survivors
  • Touching Evil
  • Keeping Up Appearances
  • Ab Fab
  • Dr Who
  • How Clean Is Your House?
  • Space: 1999
  • Masterpiece Theatre
Gutted, My Family, Murder City, Torchwood but not the finale

I love so many of the shows mentioned, especially anything sci fi. I used to watch a real estate show called "Location, Location, Location". I love old houses and sometimes that houses that the subjects were looking at dated from the 1400s! I loved seeing all those houses. I also enjoyed My Hero.
There was another show that I can't remember the name of now. It was just a few years ago. There was a team of people, construction, plumbing, electrical, and interior design. They would go into a home for sale and try and improve it so that the house would get valued for more when going on the market? They really worked well together, but they would really bicker sometimes! The designer could do amazing things. The crew would always finish just about 5 minutes before the agents came back. Does anyone know the show?

actually they had a dancing with the stars before ours, but theirs is called Strictly Come Dancing.

I used to watch "how clean is your house?" on You Turbe....those ladies are really good! It makes me want to keep a better house.

They also did a few episodes in the US...

I just cannot believe some of the messes! :scared1:

My all time favourite US show is not much of a surprise - Friends. We watch it through time after time and I STILL cry when Rachel says "I got off the plane"

OMG Bev, me too :thumbsup2 When I was on maternity leave with DS, I watched the whole 9 seasons from beginning to end :rotfl:

I've kind of gotten hooked on a Korean series (with English subtitles) called "Dong Yi" that's airing right now. It's sort of a Cinderella type story that's set in the late 1600s (I think). It's a bit slow but interesting and the costumes are gorgeous!

Oh, after typing I realized you probably mean on of the British shows...always loved Dr. Who!

OMG, I thought I was the only one that watched the Korean shows with subtitles. I have never heard of the one you watch but i watch 2 different Korean "soap operas"(I guess that is what you would call them) anyway, the first one is called : "Happiness in the Wind" and it's on week nights and the other is called: "Three Brothers" and it's on weekends. They both come on a little after 9pm on cable. I love Korean Soap operas because they are much different from ours, they have a definate story line and they end after a few months. They don't drag on for years and years or have dead characters come back as aliens or the evil twin etc., you know the weird story lines like american soap operas. Korean Soap operas are about family difficulties/ situations etc. and have very little violence and I have yet to see any sex or nudity in any of them.

90% of the shows we watch are British Shows:
Doctor Who
Torchwood
The IT Crowd
The Mighty Boosh
FM
Skins
Jonathan Ross
Graham Norton
Gavin and Stacey
Nevermind the Buzzcocks
Friday/Sunday Night Project
Little Britain
Catherine Tate Show
etc....

in general the shows are just better over there than over here...

I loved Skins! I remember a while back I saw that picture in your sig and thought, YAY someone else knows about this great show! :)
I actually have the theme song as my ringtone :rotfl:

I watched Robin Hood on BBC America, but got disappointed by season 2 and never watched season 3.

IT Crowd, Coupling, Merlin and Robin Hood...would love to know how pp got season 4 of IT crowd...all I could find is that it is only available for the UK and will not stream in the US.

Some of my favorites:
Monty Python
Fawlty Towers
Are You Being Served
DangerMouse
Black Adder
