Is there a ride you MUST ride first (or another ritual)?

Girlfriend being a real shopping girl, our trip always start with a peak inside the Emporium!

Previously, the first ride we would go to is Space Mountain to either ride or grab a fast pass. But we'll have to come up with a new ritual since we have a toddler now. I haven't decided what we'll go to first. Maybe Dumbo since Peter Pan will be closed.

If starting off at DCA, we always seem to get FP for RSR and then head over to Tower of Terror. If starting at Disneyland, we almost always grab a FP for Star Tours and then ride Space Mountain. Then, we grab a FP for Space Mountain and then ride Star Tours with the FP we grabbed earlier. I had a really efficient trip where we had ridden everything in DCA but the Jellyfish and Bug's Land rides by noon. This was during Spring Break 2013.

We are heading to Disneyland for the first time March 1-5, 2015. We love WDW and know it very well. We love making the most of our time in the parks. There are so many more rides in DLR and we only have 2 days for DL and 1 day for DCA. Do you have any advice on what to ride first and getting fast passes etc. I was reading where there are lines for the fast passes and you might be better off going to ride first?? Which doesn't make sense to me especially since the fast pass kiosk is usually right by the ride entrance. We love Test Track our Favorite ride and then Tower of Terror and Space Mt. And Everest But we also love the little rides too! Wish DLR had the people mover so fun and a part of Disney Magic. We are so excited to come DLR since most of the rides seem to be better there and everything is so CLOSE! Love the closeness of everything! We just need a game plan but I don't know where to start? Can you help??

We always head for Adventure Land first and go through all the rides in a row.
After that it's about lunch time and we eat at GH.

the lines you speak of for FP is a RSR problem. Problem will not exist for other attractions with maybe Space Mountain, but since that machine is a ways from rope drop it is not long, if so , a very short wait.

This thread is info shared by frequent veteran visitors. We have rituals because we have been in the park, seen Disneyland and have now created a rhythm of our own private Disneyland

My observation about your planning is that......are you going to run down the streets just to re-ride a mechanical movement that you felt in WDW??? Are you going to run down Main Street and never return because the rides are more important?

Chances are that you will enter the park onto a rope drop and you will see the historical elements of Main Street. But you will miss the street rides, the music, the characters, the flavor of Marcelline. You will miss Disneyland as a first time visitor.

But if you want to visit the carnival ride elements of the resort, then on one day you turn right at the castle hub and on the next day day turn left, this will maximize your riding/FP use with the exception of Fantasyland. But you will not see Disneyland

Splash Mountain is hands down the first ride of the day. Every time its a walk on, and pretty much every time we ride twice in a row without getting off. Nothing like a little zip a dee doo dah to get me in the mood for a spectacular Disney day!

In DL, my wife and I always ride Space Mountain first. Depending on the crowd, we might pick up a Star Tours FP on the way.

For DCA, we always pick up a Radiator Springs Racers FP, then head to California Screamin'.

Magnificent post.
Please don't just rush down Main Street. If not on your first day at least take some time during your trip to enjoy in everything on MS.
This is one of the last area's of Walts park to give you a feeling of what it was really like in the day.

For DL Jungle Cruise is always first. It is my mom's favorite ride so that was the first we would go on as a kid, and I continue the tradition now as an adult.
DCA, no first ride tradition yet but one of these trips we will come up with something!

I love that everyone has a different starting place and we scatter throughout the park at rope drop. :)

We've started going into the park on arrival day and so our first ride is usually Pirates (with a quick Indy FP grab first). Pirates is one of the few rides our entire group likes and will ride together before people start getting antsy and want to break off and find their faves.

On Magic Mornings, always Peter Pan first, followed by Dumbo, Toad and Alice. Try to knock out all of the FL rides that get long lines quickly.

Non Magic Mornings is typically Tomorrowland. Get a FP for Space, then do Space standby, Star Tours and Buzz, and then use Space FP.

No real traditions for DCA, I haven't even been since Carsland opened, so I'm sure RSR will become our new tradition!

You are doing yourself an injustice! Mater's junkyard jamboree & Radiator springs racers are amazing!! :hyper:

First ride for me is always the train, all the way around the park starting at main street station.

The train for me too, but the Casey Jr Train, I just love that ride! That is for the first day at DL, first ride.

Other days we head for the mountains, sometimes the Matterhorn, because the lines get SO long for that one.

There is no solid thing to go on first, but the longest lines are,
RSR
Peter Pan
Sometimes the Matterhorn has a long wait, sometimes you walk right on
Character meeting
Mickey's Fun Wheel
Space Mountain
Splash Mountain (sometimes)
Toy Story Midway Mania
Jungle Cruise
