we will be staying at the hard rock in May. we usually stay at the RPR. we have seen many comments on this board that the HRH has gotten kind of shabby. we are thinking of switching back to the RPR because of this. please comment on this so we can finalize our decision. :confused3

I have never seen it shabby. I have always had wonderful rooms there. If you get there and are not satisfied with your room, dont be shy about asking to change or make changes. Remember also, ppl are much more likely to post when somethings wrong than when its fine.

i have had many stays at the hrh and have not found it to be in bad conditions as some have posted here lately.

some do not like the non stop music in the lobby and elevators.
some found fault with the carpeting in the hall ways.
that can happen at any hotel that stays at full occupancy.

i have a ressie at rph this fall and have half a mind to switch it back to hrh.
i wanted to try rph at least once.

Thats what me & my family are doing this year in may , mainly cause we got a better rate for the week we will be visting(rpr 202.00--hrh 149.00).
I've visted hrh while staying at the rpr just for swimming and a cool drink
and the biggest thing I noticed was the atmosphere is a lot more "upbeat"
yes it seemed louder around the pool than at the rpr, but not in a bad way
just alot of people having a good time, which is why I go to universal anyway.

17 weeks till I'm there!........man thats not even close enough to start counting. :confused3

I've been wondering the same thing - our family of 3 stayed at RPR over Easter 3 years ago. My 12 year old wants to go again this year, but we'll be there the 1st weekend in June. So I booked the HRH for $223.00 after reading that it's much more fun for "teenagers". Now I'm wondering if we'll be happy there? we loved the RPR's tropical feel but it's only for 1 night.

no, stay the night at hrh. you will love it as it is different and lively.

i have been staying at hrh for the last 10 trips and feel so guilty staying at rph this fall.

i did want to try it for the experience as many have written about how kewl it is there. also, its a lot cheaper than hrh at the time i am going.

with the discount i am paying 183/night comparted to over 2xx.xx something.
for 4 nights i will be there, it will be a big savings and buy a lot of hot dogs for me !!

If you haven't been to the HRH, then go just to check it out.

Just be aware of the things people talk about on this board. I believe the problems the HRH are due to people checking out late, which gives the staff a short amount of time to make the rooms ready. The HRH is the "hip" place to be, so rock/movie stars stay there, tip the staff well, and then the staff has a "snooty" attitude with regular folks.

I've notice that people who have problems are those trying to upgrade, or those staying on club level. Their room is not ready, or it's a mess. Well, it's because a rock star was just in there, and stayed until 4pm. Then a guest shows up wanting the room, and house keeping only spends an hour cleaning it because the guest is downstairs screaming where is my room.

Now, If you have a regular room, and don't expect anything from the staff, then your stay will probably turn out great.

People turn to the RPR because they don't have these problems. If you show up at 8am, your room might be ready. And the staff is friendly, but doesn't have the "snooty" attitude.
