I will be bringing our own meals example Turkey or PBJ and pop tarts for Breakfast. Is there a place where we can sit down to eat with our own food. Seperate from our seats?

Just in your seats, or private sleeping car accomodation of you go first-class. You might or might not be run out of the lounge car for bringing in your own food, but it is intended for consumption of food purchased on the train. Now, if you just brought the Pop-Tarts, for instance, to go with the 'entree' & beverages you pruchase from the lounge attendant, that might be different.

You do realize that meals in the dining car are generally excellent, if a bit expensive? If you are making do with Pop-Tarts for breakfast, I would strongly suggest you try at least breakfast in the dining car (not the lounge car). That meal is not quite so expensive usually, but gets your day off to a much better start - and the food is quite good. You may be surprised, actually.

The lounge car has seating you can use but you'll have ample room at your coach seat too. Just pull down the tray in front of you if you need to.

We're on the train from Ohio to Kissimmee Florida and bring our lunch with us. We freeze some minute maid lemonade and use it to keep the stuff cool. We have sandwiches, chips, pickles, regular picnic and enjoy it right at our seats, tray down and munch away. When we use the roomette sleeper, meals are included in the price, we utilize the dining car, meals are quite expensive but very good.
