Is there a more recent BBB thread?

I do. What does the current Ariel dress look like. Is there an Ariel ball gown? thank you

Is there a picture of the t shirt and tutu from the courtyard package....do you wear some kind if bike shirt under the tutu, or it really more like a little ballet skirt?

It's just a two layered skirt. My daughter wore biking shorts under it.

I was hoping someone could answer whether or not we could just buy a tee shirt that say BBB instead of doing anything there? Do they sell them in the store? My dd does not want to do BBB, but likes the tee shirt from the courtyard package.

I don't have the answers, but I am going to be at BBB at the castle location in a little over a week (2/19) and I will take pictures of all of the available dresses and post. As well as the tutu's and shirts.

I was thinking that we needed a new, updated BBB thread.

From past experience (been going to BBB since 2009), the park dresses don't change much. The disney store dresses are another story, they change about every 8-10 months, at least slightly. New ones were just released in January, so they will probably be the same until end of summer, when they sometimes release new ones for halloween (or some new styles, and some old styles).

It would be very nice if Disney would post something more comprehensive on their website. You can also call BBB ahead of your scheduled date(don't know how far makes sense, I think I did it a few days ahead when I wanted a rapunzel dress and they were in short supply), let them know what you want, and what size, and they will often keep one back for you.

I have never seen an Ariel ball gown at BBB (the pink one, I am assuming you mean). For ariel the costume I have always seen is her mermaid one - and I think the disney store one is nicer (and cheaper), but that is just my opinion.

The accessories and shoe availability can also be spotty. The first time we did it, DD3 wanted Tiana.... no trouble with the dress, they had one in her size, but no tiana crown, wand or shoes... we ended up substituting a tinkerbell tiara, Belle gold flip-flops, and a tinkerbell wand.

If your daughter really wants something specific, I would consider getting the costume/accessories ahead of time and even not showing her. The FGIT's will let you set everything up in a dressing room for her, and then they will take her back there and "SURPRISE!" reveal the outfit to her and let her get changed. The only difference here is that she doesn't get to "shop" in the boutique for her items, which, for some girls, is part of the fun.

I have done it both ways, and had great results with either scenario.

Also - My personal experience has been the DTD has more of a "shop for your outfit" kind of atmosphere than the MK boutique. I love the ambiance at the MK location, but their "store" is one small wall (space is very limited), and is somewhat underwhelming.

My DD7 and DD4 will be doing their next makeover at the castle, so I will get pictures of that, along with pics of the most recent dresses. Any other info you need, I am happy to gather as well.

I have seen THIS Ariel "ball-gown" dress at the boutique - it is closer to her wedding dress than her pink ball gown, but it is very pretty, and a ball gown style:

This is the dress my DD got at the shop outside the castle. Very nice dress. A bit stiff though but she loves it. She calls it Ariel's human dress.

Please take pictures we are going back in May. We are going to try BBB this time (cancelled last year bc the girls were afraid the hair would hurt) but now they want to try it. I regretted not getting a disney store one for my younger DD bc she couldn't wear a single dress in the store they were all too itchy. She ended up with a soft fabulous Minnie dress but there were some locally that didn't bother her. Usually the park ones tend to be slightly better quality I have found.

Will do! :)

We have a lot of disney dresses... some from the parks, and some from the disney store. I think some of them are very itchy - but my DD's are totally willing to put up them.

The best dress we ever got was a disney store sleeping beauty "deluxe" (this was before they started doing the limited edition dresses), when my oldest DD was 4. The bodice was made out of a stretch velvet all the way around, including the sleeves... so soft and comfortable. It has been worn so many times, on so many park days, and it still looks fabulous. All of the disney parks and disney store dresses we have gotten have held up through two kids, a lot of their friends, and being work as actual clothing when at disney world.

One trick I figured out last year for my DD who was 3 at the time and complained about itchyness. I found a plain short sleeve shirt, in the same color as the dress, and had her wear that under it (target t-shirts worked great). You didn't even really notice the shirt, and it made her much more comfortable. I also always have the girls wear leggings (if cool), or bike shorts (if hot) under the dress. That way, I can just whip it off them if they start to complain and they are still wearing appropriate clothing.

We have previously purchased the shirt separate.

My DD has this dress that we bought in Sept. 2012 but if my memory serves me right when we were there last July they had a different style then. It was the same color thoughl

I bet the styles for some princesses are different from what anyone saw a year ago. As the gowns the princesses wear in the parks have changed, they have released updated versions of the children's dresses. I know at DLR in December we saw the new parks version of Ariel's green gown, made to match her new gown in the parks. It was really quite pretty. There were also new Cinderella, Belle and Aurora gowns released as their gowns in the parks changed. If Snow White hasn't changed over yet, she will soon.

What time of the day do u get the girls done? Will the hair last through the night for the next day? I'm thinking I would rather the DTD location but we always do DTD in the evenings....

We usually do mornings, and my DD7's hair always lasts at least 2 days in the classic "bun" style. The first time we did it, she got the pink hair extension thing, and that lasted 2-3 days.

Swimming will kill it though.

My DD4 usually lasts a day, but her hair is still baby-fine, shorter, and there just isn't that much of it. It amazes me they can even manage to get a bun that looks like anything with her hair. Still, it usually stays in through at least 1 nap, and looks good that evening. I always bring hairspray along and re-spray their hair before laying down on it.

What is your preferred order of events for doing BBB in MK? I was thinking BBB in the morning, then some princess meet and greets, then lunch at CRT. Do your girls like doing rides all dressed up?

Yes! An updated pic of the hairstyles or brochure would be great! My oldest went in 2011 and my youngest will be going in July. I'm curious to see if anything has changed. Thanks!

Does anyone know if BBB is part of the 180 plus 10 for reservations? Or is it 180 exactly?

You can book it as part of the 180+10. I've always made my DD's BBB reservation the same morning I make my dining ADRs, especially since we are usually trying to coordinate a BBB appointment with a specific ADR.
