Is there a hold on reservations without a deposit??

I need to call and check prices and availability for a possible upcoming trip. There are 4 families involved , I am not ready to make deposits when I call. I have to first discuss the $ with everyone and also use seperate credit cards so I don't have to put them all on mine. My question is, will they hold the reservation without a deposit for any length of time?, or will I have to call back when I am ready to leave the deposit? Thanks for any help!

If its a package you can hold it for 14 days (2008) or 7 days (2009) unless youre within 45 days. A room only you can hold the same length of time but outside of 30 days from arrival
