I am interested in learning more about DVC, I have tried wading through all the posts and FAQ's - it's pretty overwhelming.....

is there a DVC for Dummies thread anywhere?

I guess I am trying to see the difference in buying into DVC and putting down $$ on a real piece of property.

I looked over what we have spent at WDW the past few years, and wow!

Thanks!

So are you equating Floridians with Dummies? We may not know how to vote all the time but that was kind of harsh. ;)

Funny! No, not at all...being a Floridian I am finding it hard to justify throwing down that kind of cash and not "owning" property. Just wondered if there were others who had had similar thoughts and could help explain it better for me.

We're Floridians who are getting ready to close on an 86 point BWV contract. Because we live in the state we will take (and have taken) a few shorter trips per year rather than one long stay. We also can travel during the week. We like to stay on-site at deluxe hotels and love spending our days at MK or MGM and our nights at Epcot. Walking back to our hotel was something we really wanted. Based on all of this we added up what we would spend on our accommodations for each trip and decided to take the plunge. We also only bought the small amount of points we need to accomplish this (we can always add on) and bought at the resort we want to stay. Most of what I've read on this board is in agreement that unless you prefer staying on-site and at deluxe resorts, DVC may not be the best buy for you. I read these boards for months before we decided to buy. There's a wealth of information here. But the bottom line is what kind of vacation you like to have. Good luck with your decision. :)
